  1. I appreciate the sarcasm, but I’ll be glad once the head coaching search is over. Either Brad ends up the coach or we can finally put the Brad Stevens hopes/conspiracies to bed once and for all.
  2. It’s because the “positive” things are stuff like Cody Zeller catching an IU game while his wife is on tour nearby or Brad Stevens visiting his son at college in the same state as IU. Stuff completely divorced from IU’s head coaching search.
  3. But when you combine this with Cody Zeller’s wife being on tour on the west coast at the same time IU is playing out there, it’s pretty compelling evidence..
  4. Not the place to discuss, and this is probably a troll post, but I could absolutely see the IU donors having this mentality. Wouldn’t be the first time.
  5. “Sorry son, I’d love to come visit you at college, but it’d raise eyebrows for a job 3+ hours away, so I gotta stay away.”
  6. I did see some reports that he tried buying season tickets but got outvoted 3 to 1.
  7. Father visits son at school during downtime at work.. More breaking news at 9:00 o’clock. There really isn’t much of anything for Brad to do this time of year, and it’s not like his job requires him to be physically in Boston.
  8. Why would Cronin and Brownell be in the same category? One guy goes to the tournament every year and the other one goes 33% of the time.
  9. Seven elite 8 appearances at Kentucky - IU has 11 in program history. Love him or hate him, his results can’t be downplayed. He lost his fastball maybe, but he had a tremendous run.
  10. Beard is the most obtainable great coach, imo. Of course, the reason why he’s obtainable isn’t good, but it will be very disappointing if we end up with a meh hire when Beard would definitely come.
  11. Drew won a national championship at a school with four tournament appearances in its history before he got there. I could not give less of a crap about his religious preferences. Just win, baby.
  12. The Archie hire at least made sense at the time. He was one of the top “up and comers,” he succeeded at Dayton, and he would’ve gotten another P5 job if we didn’t hire him (possibly Ohio State). It ended up being a disaster, but it at least didn’t feel doomed to fail immediately. The Woodson hire was an immediate “WTF is IU doing” hire and Brownell would be too.
  13. A Mike Woodson hire followed by a Brad Brownell hire would be a harder one-two punch to the gut than anything Muhammad Ali could ever dream of landing.
  14. Lose the press conference, and then lose a bunch of games - The IU Way
  15. There’s a guy named IU Scott over there who’s pretty plugged in… when it comes to reporting on other IU forums.
  16. If one believes the rumors that Dolson “had no choice” and was forced to hire Woodson then one could argue that it wasn’t that hire. But Dolson’s out of excuses at this point. Another dud of a hire will speak volumes on the seriousness of the program.
  17. Yes, I’m sure “sneak into the tournament and finish .500 in conference” was what the boosters paid $6 million for this past offseason. No one “ran Mike Woodson off.” He turns 67 years old in 3 weeks. At most he had a few years left. He did nothing to warrant a fifth season (or even a fourth), so he got fired.
  18. If Dolson’s “criteria” is mediocre P5 coach then he could make that argument. But there isn’t an IU fan out there who will buy that Brownell fits any criteria other than “IU isn’t a serious basketball school and can’t get a legitimate coach.” The Woodson hire was strong evidence and that would just confirm it. 4 tournaments in 14 years. 0 conference championships or even 2nd place finishes. He’s the hire you make when you give up.
  19. You’re not spending 12 hour days repairing roofs in 90 degree heat as a P5 head coach, but this isn’t a job you excel at if you’re not all in. Like, we literally just fired a coach last month who failed because he half-a**ed the job for the past four years.
  20. Did you not just tell people to change the subject? Lol *Jeff Goodman tweets that Brad isn’t a candidate* - it’s a smokescreen! Brad’s on the way! *Cody Zeller attends a high school basketball game* - omg he’s our new GM! He’s recruiting for Brad! *Cody Zeller attends an IU basketball game* - omg he really is our new GM! Brad is in the way! Compared to *Questions on whether a coach who quit coaching four years ago and repeatedly turned down the IU job would actually want the job and stay long term* - blasphemy! Stop that talk right now! Like I said, folks deify Brad Stevens and lash out when people dare question him.
  21. Yes, it’s much more productive to speculate about Cody Zeller being Brad’s new IU GM because he caught an IU game during his wife’s West coast tour.
  22. And did he not quit his coaching job to take the GM position, months after IU offered him the job? That’s not something you do if you love coaching. Folks deify Brad Stevens and then lash out when people point out that he comes with question marks too.
  23. Brad Stevens quit too for a non-coaching job. What in his background suggests he wants to come grind the way a top college coach needs to grind? He quit his NBA coaching job 4 years ago, and that gig is less of a daily grind, involves minimal “recruiting ,” and comes with a months long, defined offseason.
  24. Guys like Calipari and Pitino went to the NBA for a few years and then came back to college. Stevens coached at Butler for 6 years. He left college basketball 12 years ago and left coaching entirely 4 years ago. Sure, if you can get him then great. But absolutely nothing in his background suggests he’s the guy who’s going to come back to the college game and grind year in and year out for the next 20 years. If IU’a gonna beg and plead for a coach to come here, do that with an elite college coach who wants to coach college basketball.
  25. I bet the teenage daughter unilaterally made that decision for the family, just like when she dictates whether or not Brad takes the job or not... “Dad I refuse to move to Indiana if you dare accept the job over WebEx!”
