Figures---they probably shot better against us then anyone else all year!

Some of that was our D---some of that was just our luck!

Exactly what I was trying to say. If we had not gone after Hollowell and Patterson we would've been hearing how Crean "doesn't recruit Indiana kids" and since they did come its Creans fault that they didn't turn out as expected.

Rob is a great driver but I think his ball handling is only slightly better than JBJ at this point. I think scoring wise JBJ still has him beat. Rob, at this point, is still too much of a streaky shooter. I do think he takes over as our starting pg when Yogi leaves. I've been thoroughly impressed. I think in the long run JBJ still has more potential and a better career. You can teach JBJs shooting and JBJs D isn't as bad as people have made it out to be. I think they are close by Blackmons shooting gives him the edge in my book.

Now I think this years group are 365 players. At least JBJ and Rob Johnson are. I think last years class weren't right off the bat but I think Troy, Devin, and Collin are definitely in that group of busting their tails. This group is a lot better than last years

The funny thing is a big majority of the kids that have gone to the NBA through Kentucky are now rotation players and bench warmers in the NBA. Apart from Anthony Davis, Cousins, and Wall. Nerlens Noel starts for the 76s but that isn't much to brag about. Bledsoe could be a superstar but has injury problems. They have gotten a lot of players to the NBA but Calipari doesn't really do anything to prepare them for that.

The thing is Cal used to get a lot of top players but never had lineups like this year. Very good players are just not getting the minutes they should be. I would think a lot of these top kids would have a much better chance at being one and dones if they just went to another school to be showcased.

They see how many players Cal has had go pro after one year and want to be the next on the list.  He didn't really develop them they were going pro regardless of where they went, but I get the mindset from the kid's perspective.  He's selling that for all it's worth and right now it's worth A LOT in the mind of the most sought after recruits in the country, and the success UK has had with him certainly doesn't hurt.

It's also Cal and UK, neither one will ever be considered a beacon of integrity in the corrupt world of the NCAA, so extra benefit$ are definite possibility.  Considering Eric Bledsoe couldn't even spell ACT, much less pass one, and somehow those two got him admitted to a university only makes it look more likely.

What's funny to me is that 2012 is always cited as the biggest bust recruiting class, yet two of the biggest busts from that class Hollowell and Patterson, are Indiana kids. If they had signed elsewhere, everyone would have gotten on their soapbox about Crean not locking down the state. Hanner technically was an Indiana kid too, but to a lesser extent.

Syracuse swung and missed with Patterson as well cause the kid is so bad he can't even sniff the court their. At the time, we would've looked dumb not to go after and sign Hanner and Hollowell. These kids were ranked in the top 50 nationally in their class. The fact that their haven't worked hard on their own is not Creans fault.
And I think a lot of the Harris situation had to do with some recruiting violations as well. He was contacted during a period that he wasn't supposed to have been. If Harris really would've wanted to come and Crean felt like he would've come, there would've been a spot for him.

I dont agree at all. You can't make people do something. Crean is allowed to control them during practice, but his hands are tied after that practice ends. He can't make someone become a gym rat. Thats not just Crean but that is all college coaches. There are highly touted kids that end up being nothing in college. I can see where Crean would get the blame. But those coaches have to trust their gut feeling on kids. They don't get to be around them 24/7 before offering them. But going back to that year with Hanner and Jeremy. If people would've had predicted that Hollowell would've been a bust and that Hanner would be playing like he is, they would've thought that person was crazy.

I still think getting Yogi out of that class was one of the best things that happened. Yogi will most likely go down as the most under appreciated player at IU.

Yes. I was providing context to WayneFleek's saying that he was getting PT by giving a ready example of how much PT he was getting.

Heard SMU is now under investigation for academic improprieties.

Trouble seems to follow Larry Brown.

He got out of Kansas after winning it all and they were put on probation for 2 years afterward for things that happened on his watch.

agree with some of this, but Patterson has sniffed the court this season a fair amount. Not doing much with his time though, so your point likely stands.
