(2022) - SG C. J. Gunn to DePaul
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
13 min. clip of this past weekend's game. It's not strictly a highlight video of either Gunn or Emoni Bates. -
Comments from this past weekend AAU event 2022 Seth Trimble scored 20 pts including a game winning And1 bucket for @PhenomUniverse 17U in a comeback win over Team Thad EYBL. Seth Trimble of @PhenomUniverse was outstanding in their win over Team Speights. Pumped in a loud 26 points, got to just about every spot he needed to get to, played like a guy who will make March plays. Awesome morning. 2022 6’3 Guard @sethtrimble1 @PhenomUniverse EYBL is the real deal. Continues to make big play after big play for his squad. Back to back winning plays in the final seconds to take home the wins.

(2022) - SG C. J. Gunn to DePaul

Rob Cassidy of Rivals: An Indiana commit, Gunn righted a slow start over the weekend and seemed to improve his jumper and cut down on turnovers with each game he played. By Sunday afternoon, he was firing on all cylinders. When Gunn is at his best, he is able to maintain a breakneck pace without seeming out of control. On Sunday, he saw the court well and impressed with his passing in addition to pouring in 15 points from all three levels. -
Rob Cassidy of Rivals on Brauntae Johnson of FW Northside: A class of 2024 shooting guard, Johnson gets to the rack as effortlessly as any prospect in his class. And while he impressed onlookers with a 22-point performance that also saw him grab a number of tough rebounds, most of the college interest that surrounds the 6-foot-3 prospect is as a football player. According to Johnson, who plays for the Indy Heat program, football staffs at Notre Dame, Indiana and Purdue have all reached out to inquire. Still, he certainly has a future on the hardwood if he chooses to pursue it. If he develops a consistent jumper to go along with his ball-handling, rebounding and quick first step, he could garner a number of high-major looks down the road. Where he might land: Johnson, who is just a freshman, says he has not decided if he will pursue basketball or football as his primary sport in college.

Really fits with other comments I saw over the weekend on the defensive clamps he put on Emoni Bates. -

Here's the dog, Doc Fleek's been asking for!! Rabjohns: CJ Gunn ain't just a dog on defense. He's an angry dog on defense. Putting a good offensive player in front of him is like throwing steak in front of a starving pit bull. The dude can play both ends of the floor. -
Alec Lasley on PG Jeremy Fears. The remainder of his article is behind the Rivals paywall. Numerous high-major prospects were in action this weekend at the Midwest Mania event in Indianapolis. With Indiana's coaching change, there is a mix of prospects who held an offer from the previous staff that Mike Woodson will be monitoring over the next few weeks and months. There are also new names starting to emerge with increasing interesting from the Hoosiers. 2023 point guard Jeremy Fears Jr. is one of those new names that the new IU staff is targeting. The La Lumiere (IN) guard is playing with Bradley Beal Elite this summer. He was a standout this past weekend, flashing his potential. "Overall I think I played good but think I could have played a lot better," Fears told TheHoosier.com. "Really happy team wise because we went 3-1 and beat some really good teams. I had a lot of fun and I think it was a great experience for me." Fears played up with the 17U roster and did exactly what you expect from a top prospect at the point guard position. He is a natural floor leader and knows how to get everyone involved and in the right places. "I think I'm a floor general, a big time defender and big time playmaker that makes everyone around me better," Fears said of his game. "I can also score and lead a team at the highest level." Indy Heat EYBL goes 4-0 this weekend in the Midwest Mania Tournament against Expressions Elite, City Rocks, Bates Fundamentals, and MPJ Elite. Seen more than one comment about the defense Gunn played against Emoni Bates. -
Justin Byerly recruiting analyst for HoopSeen - A guy that will be a household name over the next couple of years is 6’10 forward Xavier Booker with George Hill All-Indy. Long and lean prospect that is developing his timing and footwork. Blocks a lot of shots. Holds offers from LSU, Kansas State and IUPUI. Booker with a 14 point outing for George Hill All-Indy in a win over Da House.

“Coach (Dane) Fife, a couple days after he had transferred in (from Michigan State) let me know that he was at IU and he was still going to recruit me and he wants me there,” Washington said. Fife had been leading the charge for Michigan State on Washington before he joined Woodson’s staff. And the IU head man in charge has been in touch with Washington too. “He called me about a week ago and we had a good talk,” Washington said of Woodson. “We’re just getting to know each other. The next time we talk we’re going to get into more basketball and what he thinks about me and my game.” https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-basketball-recruiting-2022-in-state-5-star-jalen-washington-impressed-with-woodsons-resume/?fbclid=IwAR3nuq6VOd2aNqMv66d_E7upKSZsgchOTGoSo7nlk5eVJZcE7zbK6XoRcW4
