Quiet night for Jakai as NHS defeated Grayson 58-56. The stream of the game cut off with 4 min. left so these are not necessarily Jakai's final stats for the game. 7p 6r 1s 1b 1t The hot hand for NHS was Marcus Whitlock who finished with 23p hitting 7-3s. NHS led 35-21 at the half but didn't play well in the 3rd Q and let Grayson back in the game and it was a dogfight to the end. NHS plays again tonight against Wheeler.

Well, we're 1 of his 10. https://www.on3.com/news/2023-wing-coen-carr-announces-top-list-of-schools/ Indiana: “Coach (Mike) Woodson is a great coach. Coach Yasir (Rosemond), both of them, have been talking to me a lot. They tell me how they’re going to use me in their system. I’m trying to get up there (for a visit).” -
That's been thrown out as a problem but simply lower leg injury has also been mentioned.

The 19th annual Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament (MAIT) got underway last night and Montverde defeated Kimball (TX) 91-70. Jalen with 26 pts. was the game's high scorer per The Season Ticket. Comments from Jamie Shaw following this game -- This game was Jalen Hood-Schifino’s first since the McDonald’s All-American committed announced its rosters. Matched up against Arterio Morris, Hood-Schifino was fantastic. The 6-foot-5 point guard controlled the tempo of the game’s pace on both ends of the floor and did so in a smooth manner. Hood-Schifino, the On3 Consensus No. 21 player in his class, is a strong framed lead guard. He knows how to use his body and create angles to attack. Off the bounce, he touched the paint and played off two feet, distributing passes or finishing with an array of finishes. The Montverde (Fl.) Academy lead guard knocked down his only three of the night and took on the defensive assignment of Morris. He finished with 24 points, eight rebounds, and four assists in the win. Recruiting: Hood-Schifino is committed to Indiana.

From Woody today. Khristian Lander could be available tomorrow at Maryland for "limited" minutes, but Woodson says he will know more on Saturday morning. Mike Woodson says Rob Phinisee won't play tomorrow. "He could possibly be day to day." It's plantar fasciitis. [More than one tweeter referenced plantars as Rob's problem per Woody] Tamar Bates and Trey Galloway would be used as primary ball handlers at times to spot Xavier Johnson some minutes if Khristian Lander can't go

Background for those not aware. Officials declared the game over with around 30 sec. left and Cathedral with a large lead. Really hard and unnecessary foul on the part of a Tech player and the players involved exchanged some words but it wasn't anything more than that. However, assistant coaches from both teams started jawing and that's when the officials called the game before it could escalate further. Tonight, both teams, coaches and the officials got together at Tech and put the matter to rest including a cutting down of the nets for Cathedral. Unknown at this time if the IHSAA will take any action against either school. -
Richmond's undefeated season came to an end at the hands of Pinecrest (12-4) (5-1) 80-76. McNeil called for a charging foul 3:30 into the 2nd Q and landed awkwardly. Got up noticeably favoring his left leg and spent the remainder of the Q on the bench. He started the 3rd Q but went to the bench after just 2 min. clearly favoring his leg and stayed on the bench the rest of that Q. He started the 4th and did his best to pull out a win for Richmond but it wasn't to be. On the night he played just 21:30 and still finished with a game high 19 points. He scored 13 of his points in the 4th and also had 2 assists. The teams combined to score 52 points in the final Q. He was 9-14 FG; 1-5 on 3s; 0-1 FT; 6 reb; 3 asst; 1 stl; 3 blk; 1 TO. On the season Richmond now (15-1, 5-1 SAC).
