  12. 4-0 on the weekend with a 9-0 win over Valpo in 5 innings. Montgomery pitched 4 innings allowing just a single hit and didn't walk a batter. Kate Rehberg pitched the 5th and did give up 2 hits but no damage done. Brianna Copeland playing 1b in the Valpo game had 3 rbi including a solo HR. Desiree Dufek also with 3 rbi. Women are now 8-4 on the season. Next weekend they'll be in Louisville for 5 games. They'll face Central Michigan and Ohio U. on Friday; a single game against Ohio U. on Saturday and then play Louisville and Eastern KY on Sunday.
  13. Hoosiers enjoying batting practice against Valpo pitching in game #2 leading 8-0 after 3 complete. We've banged out 10 hits and scored 6 runs in the 3rd. Montgomery has given up a single hit in 3 innings.
  14. Durr has a better first half stat line than TJD and played 14 less minutes.
  15. After what he went through this is more than well-deserved.
  16. Chalk up another W as the women take a 3-1 win over Western Illinois. Brianna Copeland pitched 6 innings allowing 3 hits and no walks. Heather Johnson pitched the final inning. Hoosiers only had 3 hits of their own but 2 of them were HRs off the bat of Cora Bassett and accounted for all of our runs. Our second game of the day against Valpo is just underway. Macy Montgomery on the mound.
  17. Maybe ditch the wooden shoes for some Nikes. Just a thought.
  18. I hate it that Mack had to have some minor surgery and miss games because we clearly struggled. But on the other hand, it got a lot more minutes for Chloe and that's been a good thing for her and for the team.
  19. From The Daily Hoosier - CJ Gunn's full stat line in sectional semifinal win over Warren: 38 points, TFG 11/22, 2FG 5/10, 3 PT 6/12, 2 Rebounds, 1 Assist, 2 Blocks, 3 Steals
  20. Tucker with 22p and 2r in a 70-63 win over John Carroll in a Baltimore Catholic League semifinal tournament game. 1st half stats 2-12 from the field for 4pts; finished the game with 22pts on 9-22 from the field. Baltimore Sun - The feathery touch from star forward Bryson Tucker on a baseline jumper to open the second half was a welcome sight for the Mount Saint Joseph basketball team in Friday night’s Baltimore Catholic League semifinal. The sophomore guard was uncharacteristically off in the No. 1 Gaels’ sluggish first half against defending champion John Carroll, but the early make in the third quarter represented what was to come. Mount Saint Joseph, relying on another collective effort led by Tucker and junior forward Amani Hansberry, fended off John Carroll to claim a 70-63 win in front of a near capacity crowd at Loyola Maryland’s Reitz Arena. After a 2-for-10 shooting performance in the first half, Tucker finished with 22 points. Hansberry scored a game-high 25 points and added 15 rebounds. Mount Saint Joseph, which captured the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference title Sunday, will take a 30-5 record into Sunday’s championship game against St. Frances, a 76-54 winner over Spalding. Game time is 1 p.m. at Reitz Arena. John Carroll, which got 21 points from Jeannot Basima, finishes with a 20-11 mark. Tucker’s opening basket in the third quarter helped spark the Gaels after they mustered only 25 points in the first half and trailed by five. They pulled ahead in the third and made the decisive plays down the stretch to claim the win. With the Gaels leading 61-58 midway through the fourth quarter, Hansberry scored off an inside feed Tucker, and Tucker made it 65-58 on a baseline drive with 1:54 to play. Five makes from the free-throw line closed out the win. “I just needed to see a shot go through the net,” Tucker said of the early third quarter shot. “When I came out, it felt good but it wasn’t going in. So when I came out I heard that first one go in, and we just kept on rolling.” The Gaels got 11 points from Ace Valentine, 10 from Austin Abrams and a strong defensive effort from Aidan Mess, who grabbed seven boards and blocked three shots. Hansberry, the hero in the Gaels’ overtime win against Loyola Blakefield in Wednesday’s quarterfinal round, was proud and exhausted after a tireless performance. “I’m just proud of my guys,” he said. “Leadership took over — everybody just bought in and we were able to get some shots, get some stops on defense and push out in transition to get the win.” John Carroll played its brand of basketball to the end with senior guard Tyson Commander closing out a fine career with 19 points. “Really proud of our guys,” Patriots coach Seth Goldberg said. “They did a tremendous job. We’ve been focused on our culture all year long. We didn’t let anything bother us tonight — they just hit a couple more shots than we did. It’s tough. It’s what you want — a great game all the way to the end.” The Gaels will take aim at top-seeded St. Frances, which won both regular-season meetings.
  21. Booker had foul trouble in the 1st half and scored all 16 of his points in the 2nd half; 10 coming in the 4th Q as Cathedral beat Tech 69-54 and will play C. J. Gunn and Lawrence North tonight for the sectional championship. He also had 7 reb.
  22. Only scored 12 in the 2nd half but per the Indy Star he was 7-8 on FTs in the 4th Q when it counted in the 65-60 win over Warren Central and Louisville bound Tae Davis. LN plays Cathedral tonight for the sectional championship.
  23. After struggling at the end of the regular season, women have re-grouped and have a B1G tournament semifinal match-up with the Buckeyes. In our only meeting of the season, we beat them 86-66 in Columbus. Men's game vs PUke starts at 2:00 so you won't have to miss much of that game when you switch over to the women at 3:30.
