Expected it to be bad but didn't think it would be quite this bad although without Z and Shay at 100%, our quiver is pretty empty. Need to flush it and get ready for Oregon next Sunday back in Bloomington. Hopefully Shay's injury isn't too severe and the week off will get her back on the court. Nevada takes the final game of the weekend 4-2. We were limited to just 4 hits. Aubree Hooks started but gave up a run in the 1st and another in the 2nd. Reyes came on and was nicked for another 2 Nevada runs before Reyes finished the game. Next weekend the women will be in Tampa for 5-games at the UCF Tournament that will run Friday thru Monday.

Availability report indicates Z is out and Shay is questionable for today's game.

DME girls had 2 games in this weekend's Grind Session in Cleveland. Friday night they suffered just their second loss of the season 65-55 to Ft. Erie (Canada). I scored GiGi with 16p, 3r, 2s, 3t. 5-10 FG, 0-2 on 3s, 6-9 FT. In Saturday's game they played the Example Academy Varsity team which is kinda sorta like if your local high school varsity played an opponent's B team. Most of the prep schools field a national team which is their elite squad and a varsity squad which is the not-so-elite squad. DME won 74-28 and I don't think GiGi played 15 minutes but still scored 10p and had 4r. It is a treat to hear the announcer's repeatedly mention that GiGi will attend IU and that she's considered among the best players on the Grind Session circuit. There's still no valid confirmation that GiGi's teammate Sara Okeke has an IU offer but sounds like she's been told if she wants to come to IU, there's a roster spot for her. She's not polished but there's definitely potential even to my untrained eye. In the Friday loss, she had 21p, 7r, 2s, 2b, 1t. 9-14 FG, 3-4 FT. In 74-28 rout she had 17p and 6r.

Hoosiers will return to Bloomington winless after dropping a 4-3 11-inning game to the Tarheels. We had a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the 9th and then this happened. We had just 5 hits in the game all singles. 4 IU pitchers gave up 8 hits and 8 BB. Tuesday night we host Bradley at 4:00 and next weekend we're in Jacksonville, FL for 3-games in the Live Like Lou Jacksonville Classic where we'll play LSU, UCF and Notre Dame.

Christ School beaten 83-74 by La Lumiere. Manhertz 32p on 10-18 FG, 6-12 on 3s, 8-14 FT. He played the entire 32 minutes and drew 8 fouls. Last night, Christ School lost 77-63 to St. James. Manhertz 19p on 5-14 FG, 5-11 on 3s, 2-4 FT. Both games Christ School got down double digits in the 1st Q and spent the rest of the night trying to claw its way back. Don't know what the final number was tonight but during the 3rd Q, the announcer mentioned that La Lu was hitting 60% of its 3s for the game.

New winning streak now at 2 with a 6-3 win over Nevada. Taylor Hess started on the mound and pitched 4 scoreless innings. Ella Trout took over in the 5th and was charged with all 3 of Nevada's runs. We had 6 hits, the big one a 3-run HR from Avery Parker in the 3rd. We'll play Nevada again on Sunday at noon.

After today, I hereby decree our games will go no longer than 4 innings. Tied at 1-1 through 4. UNC scores 3 in its 5th and 6 more in the 6th. Final score 12-2 in a run-shortened game. Jackson Bergman pitched the first 4 and was charged with 3 runs. 3 relievers combined to give up another 9 runs over the remaining 3 inning. Kinda sounds like last year? For our part, we managed just 4 hits. Final game of the weekend projected to start around 3:45 and hopefully we can salvage at least 1 for the first series of the new season.

6 ejections. Took 15 min. to review and they gave both teams a brief warm-up before re-starting the game.

Thankfully he got his mother's good looks. And the hair must be a recessive gene.
