How Is Darian Devries Doing?
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Josh's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Maybe it's time to abandon basketball and start a men's volleyball team? Asking for a friend. -

Mike Wiemuth (X’s & Joes Pod) @MikeWiemuth In the last portal period, 66% of the top-50 portal players were off the board by the day IU made their 2nd assistant hire (April 11th). By the time you get past the 2nd week of April, you're operating in a talent pool that has been substantially drained. -

Despite the title of this thread, no idea if we'll have any interest or not, but it is a significant player that is available. 4-star Kayden Allen has received his release from Cincinnati and will reopen his recruitment, he told @Rivals. The 6-5 shooting guard is a top-50 overall recruit in the 2026 class. -
Barring some miraculous turnaround we can probably write this season off. We led 6-5 after 7 complete. Oregon scores 1 in the 8th and 1 in the 9th and we go 0-3 on the weekend. 4 Hoosier pitchers gave up 11 hits and issued 4 BB and just for kicks hit 5 batters. We had 8 hits but not particularly timely leaving 7 on base. Maybe we can take out some frustration Tuesday evening in Nashville when we face Vanderbilt. Next weekend we host Minnesota.

Absolutely no idea if we'll be interested, but I compiled his stats for 17 games on the EYBL Scholastic Circuit. 10.9p, 4.9r, 3.0a, 1.9s, .6b, 1.5t 55% FG, 33% on 3s, 70% FT. Per Raby, we backed off recruiting him because of his shooting. So I looked at what history I could find. Last summer on the AAU circuit for 11 games he shot 51% FG, 28% on 3s, 68% FT. Shooting % aren't available for his previous high school seasons but in 32 games in 24-25: 24.7p, 8.1r, 2.8a, 1.8s, .7b

Rutger scores 2 more in the 6th and again in the 7th and go back to NJ with a 14-11 win. We blew an 8-0 lead! That hurts! 4 IU pitchers torched for 15 hits that included 4 HR. We had 13 hits of our own that also included 4 HR but obviously it wasn't enough. Alex Cooper had 3 hits and 3 others with 2 each. Strader today's RBI leader with 3. Wednesday we'll host IU Indy at 5:00. Next weekend we'll be at Maryland. -

I'm a jinx. Rutger scored 4 in its 3rd, 3 in its 4th and 3 more in its 5th. We're now tied at 10-10 after 5 complete. It's batting practice Sunday as Rutger has a dozen hits; we have 10. -
Aiden Derkack has received his release from Providence and will reopen his recruitment, he told @Rivals. The 6-6 wing is the No. 66 overall recruit in the 2026 class. This observation from @Demo yesterday - The best player in this game for Spire imo was pretty clearly ‘26 wing Aiden Derkack. Had a nice game and competed his a$$ off even when it started to get away from them. Currently a Providence commit and had an IU offer from the current staff. Depending what happens with the HC situation at Providence that situation could possibly come back around.

I think Rutger is in a hurry to get back to New Jersey. God only knows why! Hoosiers looking for the series sweep with an 8-0 lead after 2 complete. -
2026-27 Roster/Portal/how to fix the roster?
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Asha’man's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Definitely agree with you on Moody. In some respects, Qayden Samuels' injury was a good thing for Moody personally because it made him assume the leadership role on the McNamara team. -

We're now 0-2 on the weekend losing to Oregon today 5-1. Neubeck started and went 4 innings giving up 7 hits and charged with all 5 Oregon runs. Mastalski, Engish and Haas closed it out and only allowed 1 more hit but the damage was done. We had a whopping 2 hits today after getting just 5 yesterday. Try to salvage one tomorrow before flying home. Tuesday evening we'll be at Vanderbilt. Next weekend we host Minnesota for a weekend series.

Women take game 2 of the weekend series 6-1. Troutt and Mannon combined to limit Rutger to 5 hits and walked just 2 batters. We had 7 hits; Madalyn Strader had 2 of them. Avery Parker had 3 RBI all coming on a 1st inning HR. Sunday's game has been moved to an 11:00 am start. -

Glad to hear Karvala played today and played well. In yesterday's game early in the 3rd , he took a hard shot to the face and went straight down. Nothing malicious or intentional, it just happened but for a minute or 2, I don't think he could have told you where he was or what day of the week it was. He did not play the rest of yesterday's game.
