Obviously, I'm not who you asked, but I have connections to BU basketball, so if you don't mind I'll take a stab here. He's a very below the rim player. Fundamentals are good. Athletic, he is not -- not quick on his feet or fast. Good footwork around the rim. Patient defender. Doesn't take players off the dribble. It's a spot up three or traditional back to the basket moves. He's similar to Race in these regards. If IU wants athletic shot makers, people to create their own shot and open opportunities for others, he isn't a good option. If IU wants someone similar to Race who could spell Malik, then IU should talk to him.

To make this decision when they could still use X this season, I imagine IU feels like they have some reasonable reassurance that X will get the waiver. A lot of behind the scenes conversations happen in these instances--not saying guarantees were made, but some indication X is in good shape to receive the waiver.

Miller is suspected in connection with a murder. Police are investigating whether or not he ultimately provided the gun that was used in the murder.

While there were some lean years, he's also took them to the tournament a few times -- including a Sweet 16 run. Not bad for a school that doesn't give any resources to basketball. Brad is from Evansville, and has had success at low major schools. He's a good coach that could have more success at a school that wanted to foster a better basketball culture.

Seeing how horrifically UNC was coached throughout thr PK Invitational, I've gone from hoping IU beats UNC next week to being disappointed if IU doesn't beat UNC.

(2024) - CG Dylan Harper to Rutgers

It is really good to get them on campus. As a junior, he'll have 5 OVs this year and another 5 beginning in the middle of next summer for his senior year. Be interesting if we're still in the mix come next summer. -
His second season also featured Eric Gordon.

Don't care to play UK, or for the NCAA to them to field a team. Feel the same about playing Kansas. It's a shame. Hope we win though.

(2024) - C Flory Bidunga

Curious if anyone knows Flory's academic situation. Could he be a candidate to reclassify? -
Kind of hate to be that guy, but kind of can't resist. Butch played from 76 to 80. So, technically sure he played a few games in the 80s, but he's really associated with the 70s. Also, he was a locker room cancer, so he'd be my last choice. Give me John.

(2023) - PF Arrinten Page to USC

Chris, with all due respect kids aren't afraid of playing behind Logan. I don't mean to say he won't be a good player, but kids are judging what they see on visits and what our coachesbare telling them. And none of what they are seeing or hearing is that they'll have to wait behind Logan. Also, IU fans need to understand that talent likes to play with talent. That's why a lot of kids try to get into the basketball factory high schools are are willing to sit until their senior year. That's why kids are willing to sit behind players like Trayce. Also, regarding the kids we missed on this summer, only one of them would have to deal with Malik and Logan on the depth chart. It's a more difficult and nuanced narrative to accept, but in reality IU missed on the recruits this summer for a few reasons (some reasons are more related to certain recruits than others): 1. Lack of a long-term relationship with the staff. 2. Not being in alignment with personalities. 3. Not being in close proximity to home. 4. Some say a disengaged head ball coach at IU. (This one I'm more in the dark about, but it's certainly being bantered about.) 5. Not being the shiniest program to provide an offer. 6. Yes, in some cases a certain university offered almost immediate playing time, but they also had a staff that build a long relationship with the kids and the university was close to home. IU was too narrowly focused on the 2023 class and just getting to know these kids. It's not all doom and gloom. It's a learning process. As others have mentioned there are other irons in the fire. For those worrying, the staff will have to work hard, but all is not lost . . . at least not yet. ; ) -
(2024) PF - Derik Queen to Maryland
ziggyiu replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Page and Queen don't play the same spots. We need to restock the front court after this year. Queen is the type of talent you take whenever you're fortunate enough to get a commitment. Maybe IU lands Page, or maybe they don't. Queen's visit doesn't seem to be part of that equation. Plus IU has been wanting to schedule Queen's visit for a long time. This didn't come together over night. This visit and practically all visits take a while to coordinate. -
Assembly Hall was built in part because the program that Branch created. Other things can be named after Bob. Let's never forget that IU basketball has a rich tradition beyond Bob. That doesn't take away from how fantastic of a coach he was. It just pays proper respect to the program as a whole. Without what Branch created over the decades, IU isn't the premier job that attracts Bob.

(2023) - PF Arrinten Page to USC

What's interesting is that Eric from the Hoosier Hysterics mentioned dipping into the transfer portal for big next spring. They are goofy, but Eric is sneaky in that he knows somethings and drops tidbits everyone in a while. I don't think anything is certain, but perhaps the staff is acknowledging their needs may be better met in the portal. Or maybe Page will commit next week. ; ) -

@Stuhoo and @Demo - I'd be surprised if no interviews come from the visit, but it is a stark contrast to Kaiser's visit where he posted stuff ASAP and a sting of interviews were released after his visit very recently concluded -- like while he and his dad were still making their way home. ; ) Looking at Page's IG, he posted the photos from previous visits, so he does put his recruitment out there to some extent. It's just an interesting take, especially with the one post he did publish while on his visit (or very soon thereafter) being negative. -

It's interesting that after Kaiser's visit there was a flurry of interviews with either him or his father. The young man also posted pics from his visit on IG. However, I've not seen one post-visit article on Page's visit, nor has he posted anything about the visit on IG. In fact the one thing he's posted recently isn't positive. -
Promise?

They were going to do it b/c the B1G had cancelled the football season initially. If there's one brand in the conference that could get its own deal, it'd be the Buckeyes. Ultimately though, even schools/brands like OSU benefit from the IUs and Northwesterns of the world because they bring in stronger demand in different markets. Also, they bring in research dollars/insights that are shared among conference members that benefit the broader academic community.
-
They are already are questioning this. The Buckeyes publicly stated recently that they considered going independent during the first football season of the pandemic.

A few quick notes: - TV people are driving this. It's FOX in particular. It's not the full picture just to say the LA school's reached out to the B1G. FOX brought these parties together. Similar to ESPN with OU and UT. - It's correct to state the quality of a university's athletic programs don't matter as much. It's more about market value. - Speaking of market value. It goes beyond if a school is located near a large city. Market value includes alumni and fan base. For example, many people talk about Oregon only bringing in Portland (21st largest TV market, or there about); however, it's more appropriate to think are there large concentrations of Oregon fans in Vegas, Boise, Phoenix, etc. I truly don't know. This is just an example of how fans of a university across the country are more important that just thinking about the closest largest city to the university. - Research money is the other big consideration. Which universities have the biggest research institutions with diverse and overflowing revenue streams and findings/studies/insights that can be beneficial to other members of the conference? Like others have said, I don't think the LA schools joined without some assurance that the conference will at least consider adding at least two more institutions that meet all of these requirements and are also geographically closer to LA. No guarantees, but at least the promise to explore options.

Screw ND. Leave them in the cold with no one to play.

Football has recently discussed going without divisions, which IU really likes for football reasons.
