I believe Dec. or early Jan. of Romeo's freshman season.

Difference between Kopp and Stewart is that Stewart had to sit out a year. He's had an unusual journey. Another difference is that Stewart has been a lot more reliable from deep. I think IU will want to keep Stewart for next year. -

I'd also love to see the script "Hoosiers" on the road jerseys. -

Top high school talent won't be scared of Cupps, Lander, Leal, Galloway and Gunn. I mean no disrespect whatsoever. It's just knowing that a) Talent isn't afraid to compete against and play with other talent. b) Every high profile school will have junior and senior guards that make incoming freshman consider how they might fit the roster. Those juniors and seniors at other top-tier schools are just as talented -- if not more so -- than what IU is currently packing. c) The portal. While it's likely some of those kids stick with IU through graduation, it's also likely some will not. Not even the coaches know exactly what their roster will look like in April, let alone April 2023 and April 2024. -

When people (especially coaches, media) put labels on you that limit what you know you are capable of it can be frustrating and discouraging. Those labels by people in a position to dictate how you move forward on your desired path can lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy (theirs) that makes it incredibly more difficult to rise up against to prove them wrong. -

I feel like the fanbase was pretty jazzed November through Xmas of Romeo's year. -
I can't make this clear enough for everyone. Sam is as on the outside as anyone can be. He tweets things that he reads on boards, then he hopes it comes true. The other thing he does is post in an ambiguous way, so people can infer what they want and he can cover his buttocks.

I'm not saying they should replace SSAH, but it's not as if the only two options are keep the building or build what everyone else is building. Some new facilities do a great job of providing modern conveniences (like better site lines) while artfully, respectfully paying homage to the past.

Agreed no one should expect video from a secret scrimmage, but to your point about no video prior to the first game he did allow Bahamas video.

(2022) - PF Noah Clowney to Alabama

This whining and throwing around of unfounded rumors is was the Vols did when IU landed JHS. (They said IU promised him a starting spot.) So many posters thought it was sour grapes. So many posters thought those comments were pathetic. Now so many posters are doing what they called out Vols fans for. Maybe it's true, or maybe the kid just likes Alabama better. The program has a lot going for it. -
Remember when OSU football players sold gear about a decade ago? That cost them a season. However, that was like five players. That said, because the mood has changed (and the regulations not long ago) -- combined with the fact the NCAA is inept and has no adherence to precedence -- my guess is nothing noticeable will happen.

Thanks for the info! Minor note, Cooper Koch attends Notre Dame High School in Peoria, Illinois -- not Iowa. -
Bigs that can extend their range are valued at every level. Just think about how the IU coaching staff, especially Woodson, is committed to helping TJD improve his jump shot. The staff wouldn't do this just to help TJD get to the league. They know if he can develop an outside shoot it will improve the offense.

(2022) - PF Kyle Filipowski to Duke

It was reported that IU was watching Flip after his visit. If the visit didn't go well, why is the staff still putting in time with him? I'm not in a position to state the visit went well and it does seem like an up hill battle to land his serves, but why watch him if the visit didn't go well? -
(2022) - SF Justin Taylor to Syracuse
ziggyiu replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I don't know Justin or his family, but it's not inconceivable (cue The Princess Bride) that Justin's mom nudged him to take a visit. I know other parents in similar situations have tried to help their kids make an informed by trying to broaden their horizons. The kid still makes the final decision, but the parent helps present all the best options. If Justin flat out didn't want to go, I doubt the trip happens. However, if Justin was just not as in to it, then I could understand the mother taking some initiative. It's possible mom thinks it's good for the kid to have additional perspectives. It's an easy trip to a historic place. Give Coach Hunter a good chance to make a final sales pitch after putting in a lot of work with the family. Learn what the coach with NBA connections has to offer. Again, I don't know what the case is, but these things happen. -

You think staff will accept it right away -- without having any other 2022 prospect on campus yet? (Especially when almost all of those recruits are consistently rated higher.) I have no insight. Just an honest question. -
College basketball should be for kids who want to be student-athletes and have at least some intent to work toward a degree (whether that goal is accomplished in four to five years or later). Let the G League be the minor leagues for kids who have no intention of going to class and actually being a student. College basketball won't suffer if every year 10-20 kids go to the G League or overseas instead of pretending to be students, getting illegal benefits, and taking a scholarship from a kid who could use it and have it provide value to his life.

Same as if he went to college.

Not interested.

I like Rob. Seems like a good kid. However, he has a small frame, he doesn't go strong to the goal and his layups are not infrequently blocked. He has no mid-range game. He is a mediocre passer. He shoots it poorly from outside. For people saying if his shots improves, etc., etc. Sure, but the same can be said of any player. I hope the coaching change does him wonders because I want him to succeed. It's just a stretch as of now to imagine him as a starting 2 guard.

I don't want to lose AF, and I don't know what he'll decide; but with him in the portal for a little while now, I would like to see IU connected with a few shooting guards in the portal. The biggest issue is that IU won't get a replacement of equal or greater talent. Getting XJ is a great help at the point, but IU needs another high level shooting guard if AF leaves. Has anyone seen IU connected to other guards?

Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD

I'm not saying IU should or should not have taken him, but Scott Drew could win the championship this year and he still would have walked from Waco to take the job. He wanted this.
