That ref with hair is really not doing IU any favors. He's been brutal -

Defense was pretty good that half, or at Michigan St's shooting was really bad, but depth could be an issue if these cheap fouls continued to be called on IU and Race isn't able to go. Hunter and Leal aren't really bangers down low and Geronimo has 3. Could pose a issue -

If Race is done for the night, Geronimo picking up his 3rd already this half really hurts -

Phinisee has some weird spin on these 3 balls. Got one to go in at least, but it's got some side spin at least on the last one -

Ref on the baseline was ready to call a charge. Got overruled by the guy calling awful fouls all half -

The hype machine was so strong on him to start the year then Big10 play started and those hyping him up suddenly fell silent -

He can at least guard Henry. Leal is going to get abused if he's matched up with him -

More transition opportunities tonight than I can recall in weeks. Everyone's coming out aggressive almost as if there's no tomorrow.... -

Durham is going to get called for an offensive foul along the baseline one of these times. He's extended both his arms pushing off trying to get free. Michigan St is getting pretty handsy and grabby with him, but he's gotten lucky twice now -

Show some fight tonight Hoosiers. Start of strong as we had been and don't fold if things don't go your way -
I will always watch IU in the winter months no matter who the players are and/or who the coach is. If Archie is back I’ll still watch but I won’t yell or cheer at my TV screen and alarm my neighbors as my optimism next year would be at an all time low. Perhaps transfers would alter that outlook but I had more enjoyment from Crean’s first 3 seasons than Ive had lately. Those teams at least gave effort - I’m not sure I’ve seen that the last few games.

Apologies, I know it wasn't discussed in the video, just has been discussed plenty of times here. If you're going to recruit guys out of HS that are 4 year guys to a place like IU, your player development better be up to snuff. As WatShot said, Painter's has been, Archie's has left a lot to be desired so far in his 4 years at IU. Just my opinion of course and to the video's point, maybe the free agency from the transfer market can make up that slack, but I'm not going to hold my breath on that coming to fruition.
-
I'll duck for cover after posing the question, but how stuck in the 80's is the notion that IU needs to get old and stay old and we only need to recruit guys from the state, or the tri-state area, because it worked with Bob Knight? This is Big10 basketball in the age of the 1 and done era, if you've got any guys worth a squat, they are likely going to the NBA after a couple seasons and you'll be lucky to keep a guy all 4 years. Just something I always think when I hear those two premises posed here.

You know a lot of people go to college for 7 years -
Mrs Marshall would have more fire in the stands than some of our players show on the floor. But that's for another thread. Not going to happen, but her husband can coach for sure.
-
Even if he weren't 72, doesn't strike me as a realistic candidate. Would be a big ask to leave a program he's built to be quite successful in an ACC with what appears to be a declining North Carolina and a Duke team that could very well decline when Coach K hangs them up. Why would he leave that to join the Big10 gauntlet .

Not sure how sad it is, but doxxing is very real and quite dangerous in today's social media world.
-
That's fair, free agency could affect quite a bit, but I've heard Henry and Brooks named a lot here and I'm not entirely sure why they'd leave their current situations to join what has been a floundering IU squad. Time will tell, but transfers are typically looking for greener pastures which I'm not sure IU is at the moment. In the case of Henry in particular, he's being coached by a HoFer and gets plenty of playing time already, and the one benefit I can pinpoint is he'd be closer to home.

Knowing how much college bball you watch, I find this line extremely sad. I can't for the life of me fathom he bring brought back with my expectations of how this season will end. Next year would be worse if we indeed lose TJD and if fans are allowed in the building, the boos would be deafening.

And Jay Wright won his 2 National Titles after it dissolved. My point is that it's college basketball and successful coaches can be found anywhere and coach anywhere. Mark Few coaches in the WAC and plenty would be thrilled to have him.

IU vs Michigan Game Thread - 2/27/21 Noon FOX

Couldn’t agree more. Know the NBA is changing where guys who can move and shoot are more valued, but when I look at Garza and Dickinson and how they fared against TJD I’d take Dickinson in a heartbeat
