Game Thread: Minn at IU, Weds 9:00 on BTN
kreigh8 replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Second game in a row, Al is given the ball to close a half and turns it over or fails to get a shot off (which in my view is a turnover). Same thing happened to close the 1st half against OSU, IIRC. At least I think that's correct -

Much better half of basketball offensively, but the defense is just too slow. Getting blown past off the bounce far too easily. -

You have got to be kidding me Al. Can't even get a shot off? -

Might be in the minority, but I thought he's played much better tonight especially offensively. Aggressive to the rim -

Unlucky for Hunter there. His hands were up and his momentum took his hand into Johnson's face. That's what it looked like to me at least -

Decent open palm strike to the face from Hunter, but part of that was Johnson pulling him towards him. Not sure who hooked who there to be honest -

Wow, Durham got mauled with no call. Then TJD gets a cheap one on the other end. Big10 refs are confusing -

Archie switches his mask more than anyone I've ever seen. Just an observation -

All 40 people in the building knew Hunter was going to try and shoot that ball as soon as he caught it. He loves trying that fadeaway -

Al's getting deked out like his feet are glued to the floor. Recovered better that time, but man he's a step behind their drives -

Rob is active on D early. And what's this a lead for the first TV timeout!?! 9pm start is right in our wheelhouse. If we make the tourney can we put in a request to the committee for 9pm or later? -
Fernando Tatis, Jr signs a 14 year extension for $340 million in guaranteed money. This extension further cementing what an idiot Kenny Williams can be. Just hurts seeing this as a Sox fan.

Start fast tonight. How about a nice change of pace and starting off with our own 12-4 run to start the game. Am I asking too much? -
Met him when I was 7 at DeKalb HS when my dad was on the staff - used to say he had the best JV team in the state when he had Luke Recker for the 2 games he didn't play varsity. Let the hate roll in on that name drop too. Still a Recker fan personally

Assumed it was just a typo, but a bit of name drop lol. My mother jumped on that name in March for a son she was going to have that May. Yours truly lol

Are you thinking of the record deal UA signed with UCLA in 2016 for $280 million? Oregon has always been a Nike school. -
Nor I. They were still Hoosiers though and felt like speaking up to say their characters shouldn't be continually questioned. Justin Smith at the least was an excellent student and that had to reflect well on the university. Considering some of the academic records of some of Crean's players, that was a welcome change I think most would agree.

Wasn't Keion Brooks Sr combative with IU fans/IU's play on social media during his son's recruitment and subsequent commitment to Kentucky? It's been a few nights I've slept since that and could easily be mistaken. I'd happily take him at IU if he can help, that's not my point, what I'm driving at a is a player can have a desire to get to the league and still have a solid head on their shoulders (read character). I, personally, don't believe those two things are mutually exclusive. Just my take. And I think we'd all agree that Romeo's character was unquestionable (perhaps not Rob Phinisee if I'm to believe some of the rumors there, but that's a conversation for another thread). May have woken up on the wrong side of the bed and coming in to hot, just been stewing on this thought for a while.

Justin Smith and Devonte Green are a year removed from the program and still getting dragged through the mud on this board and quite frankly weren't treated very well when they were a part of the program. I don't know either personally and doesn't "seem like" many know them here either. I can't count how many times I've read here that we'd be better off this year without them and seeing some of the results, I'm not sure how accurate that is - we did win 20 games after all with those 2. Lots of talk also about how poor the characters are of the players from the NBA factories of Kentucky, Duke and UNC, yet folks would gladly take Keion Brooks in a transfer scenario to IU. Just confusing to say the least. Rant over, go IU. Beat Minny - I just get a bit squirmy when people's characters are questioned without any concrete evidence to back it up or a personal relationship with the person/player. Realize I might be taking on a mod or powers that be here, but don't really care. Players that never put on an IU uniform are getting treated better than some that did. I'll criticize a player for his play, but I don't like to get into questioning their character. Different strokes for different folks, perhaps. Feel free to remove mods, just my take on some of the stuff I read.

I honestly didn't notice that last night and that is indeed a really neat touch. I just couldn't get over the corners of the court where the fir design is more of a dark gray. I just kept thinking that they needed to the turn the lights up as the it seemed really dark at the edges. I know that was the "in" thing a few years ago when they introduced this court, but I, personally, have no issues with the state outline and IU logo in the center of the court. -

Each time I hear about a refresh to the court design I think to the Oregon basketball court with those silhouette trees (Stanford v Oregon women was on ESPN last night) and I'm ever thankful that "Hoosiers" is such an obscure term. Hate to think of some of the sheer crap that could come from a design of that ilk. -

Owned a pair of red and white Jordan XVII's when I was in middle school. That was some fine packaging - came in a suitcase type box. Like Apple, they really do a good job of branding their products. Would love to see IU go that route. Part of its IU bball and their reliance on history, but our uniforms just seem stale to me. Certain parts of the fan base would hate it, but even some red horizontal bars down the side of the uniform tops and bottoms would at least add some flare. I believe someone had this type of design pictured a while back -

Get that Jumpman logo. Merch prices would probably jump but some of the Michigan gear looks pretty slick with the Jordan logo on it, in my opinion. That'd be my personal preference, not that it matters. Puma sponsor any D1 teams as of yet? I know they have a couple NBA players under deals, but haven't seen much in the ways of college gear -
Are these 15 NBA players part of our coaching candidates? If not, perhaps we could get back on topic? LeBron ready to hang ‘em up and coach IU?
