  1. I’m sure you’re right. I’m always gonna look at this stuff from a ROI perspective which is how someone without unlimited resources thinks, and Repole is definitely not that. Also, Pitino has insinuated a few places that this might be his last year. If so, money will be no object.
  2. https://www.fanduel.com/research/jon-rothstein-45-2026-offseason-edition-college-basketball-rankings Rothstein’s latest. IU remains at #25. Now that rosters are basically 100% this becomes a bit more interesting. Duke is 3rd and obviously really good, but look at their bench. As deep a roster as I’ve ever seen. Just nuts.
  3. Obviously could be, and probably is, enormously exaggerated, but I just don’t understand the value of deals like this one. This kid’s playing 1 year and that’s it. He rolls an ankle or tweaks a hammy or just has a bad night in the round of 32 and you’re going home without winning a thing and he’s off to the League and you got exactly what for that investment? Way too specious for me.
  4. Hate it so much and actually really hate it for what that nonsense is doing to their reputation and legacy. They’re really good and a small market team becoming a monster by just being straight up smarter than everyone else ought to make them crazy easy to root for. Instead, they’re impossible to root for. And it’s not just Shai, it’s obviously cultural. That play the other night with McCain coming to a dead stop in front of Castle was such bull$hit. Not sure I can actually watch a Thunder-Knicks final.
  5. I used to like Silver but those days have passed. Read this and the 1st thing I thought of was the Tom Cruise question in “A Few Good Men”, “If your orders are always followed why would he need to be transferred?” ”Commisioner, if they’re not fooling the officials why would players bother to sell calls?”
  6. Momcilovic officially withdraws from the draft. Jesus, the size of the check that kid’s about to pull.
  7. One of the hands down best things about listening to albums rather than playlists is chewing on what you’re hearing and identifying their influences and how they expand on them. If you’re lucky it’s subtle and really takes some digestion. That’s fun. And sometimes it’s as subtle as a kick in the head. Finally broke out Caamp’s “Copper Changes Color.” Nice record end to end. Enjoyed it. But, my Lord, they need to pay Pete Yorn some sort of royalty for just straight co-opting his early 2000’s mood and sound. It’s about as brazen as it gets, though if you’re stealing someone’s sound you can do worse than that guy.
  8. That’s some serious punk seed corn right there.
  9. Wabbington and Ethan Taylor would be really fun to watch in practice. Couldn’t be more different. Watching Wabbington against that kind of length and athleticism would be really telling.
  10. Ant is cold blooded but I wouldn’t much argue his point. Louisville is about to find out they dropped a zillion dollars on a PG who tends to shrink.
  11. 1st thought when I saw it was that it’s in that atrocious blue because some Maranello executive saw it and said, “You are not putting our red on whatever THAT is.”
  12. Ferrari, which for basically 75 years has built the most beautiful cars on earth, some straight up works of art, puts out their 1st EV and it’s…..this thing.
  13. Swedish announcer dude is bringing it. Pretty stark contrast to the Canadian Grand Prix which didn’t bother to show the leader for the last 25 laps because after Russell blew up Antonelli was running completely alone.
  14. Don’t tease me.
  15. Ratliff was always a ‘26 and he and Darius are signed with USC. Bryant is a ‘26 signed with Mizzou. Have never heard of the 1st kid. Is he a ‘27 HS kid?
  16. I’m confident the plan for kids like him is to wait out 5 in 5 and if it’s enacted they then sue for the 5th year to be retroactive for them. I get the argument that the ‘21 kids get jobbed because they’re the 1 recent class that wouldn’t get a 5th year via either Covid or the new rules. And you know what? I don’t care. At some point you have to get this deal systematized and it’s now. And yet I’m completely confident that one of these kids will find some judge that’ll buy that argument and stay the new rules and here we go again. I assume the unfilled roster slot is in anticipation of that exact eventuality.
  17. NBA analysis of the year by Iman Shumpert on NBA Today: Talking about Kenny Atkinson’s “Analytically we should be up” comments Shumpert replied, “I know he’s trying to encourage them with this analytics talk. But they don’t need encouragement, they need a foot in they a$$,” Indeed
  18. After Game 1 the guy said he didn’t sub an obviously completely gassed Harden late because “He was 1 of our best defenders.” Actually said that. So, maybe he just doesn’t understand which end they play “defense” on.
  19. 7th grade. So, 12 or 13? C’mon
  20. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/48871303/kenny-atkinson-cavs-analytically-winning-series-vs-knicks So, you threw up all over yourselves in game 1 and were completely controlled in games 2 and 3 but you’re winning the series “analytically”. As a Pacers fan I really, really hope they keep that idiot.
  21. https://www.abqjournal.com/sports/back-in-burque-former-lobo-donovan-dent-is-done-playing-and-ready-to-teach-the-game-he-loves/3049091 This is pretty wild. Dent quitting playing and taking his own path, though a fairly giant NIL payout probably greases the skids a little bit.
  22. No idea if this is true but it makes for a pretty awesome picture.
  23. RJ looks good.
  24. The Colorado Avalanche HC in a ball cap could complete the Will Ferrell/Chad Smith triumvirate. Who knew?
