Great big dude beats great little dude. It’s the oldest axiom in sports and it will never change. That guy’s size/speed/physicality can’t be dealt with 1 on 1 by those guys.

Saw Tatum play a bunch in HS. A blind guy sees the talent, but I remember thinking the funk in the release wouldn’t extend comfortably to NBA 3 and he really hated playing through contact to the point where he shied from it a good bit. My thought at the time was he was a no doubt fairly high end NBA guy but there’d be a fair amount of empty calories in his numbers and his actual impact wouldn’t measure up to the stats. Hard to be more wrong than that. Dude is all substance and, man, is he good along with obviously being a good guy and face of a franchise. If you’re gonna pay “tied to him forever” jack to a player, you pay it to a dude just like him.

Well, this turned out to be a lie. With the game still 1 all I found the San Antonio-Miami Summer League game and that was that.

Think nothing of it until the singing starts and these 2 8yo girls out of nowhere bust out at the top of their lungs , “ TOMMY USED TO WORK ON THE DOCKS…”. They knew the whole damned song. I was laughing too hard to drive. I had to pull over. Those lyrics out of the mouths of babes was the funniest thing I’ve ever heard.

Yeah, what’s that about? Couldn’t care much less about soccer but have probably reached the bandwagon jumping point. But “Country Roads”? How on earth did that happen?

Seeing everywhere that the Lakers overpaid here. Maybe, maybe not. The tangible return is 1sts 5 years out and 7 years out. And then the swaps are straight lottery tickets, maybe huge/maybe nothing. More assets for the Ainge’s. But if a 24yo Kessler is a Championship-caliber starting C for the next 10 years that doesn’t feel like a fleecing to me.

Unless things have really changed since I left Indy the idea that as cool as it is Hinkle is some sort of smoking home court advantage is pretty funny. Ditto with #7. Maybe it’s pretty wild when they’re good, but Providence lost 6 home games last year. How tough could it have been?
