Flyin’ to the Hoop is a 1st rate event. One of my favorites. Didn’t go this year because I wanted to see Vaughn Karvala at the Quincy Shootout and couldn’t do both. But, man, if I’d known Manhertz was a thing when I was making plans I would have done Dayton.

Daughter 1 told me I needed to check these guys out. Wolf Alice is a British sort of all over the map but apparently mostly indie band with 4 albums and 4 EP’s. Had not heard of them. Was told specifically that I needed to listen in order due to their pretty pronounced evolution. So busted out My Love is Cool, their debut album from 2015, and it’s terrific. Sort of grungy, but not really. Great edge. Big thumbs up. Sent daughter 1 my opinion and my thanks and was informed I didn’t start far enough back. Apparently if you start with the early EP’s they were basically a folk act, which is pretty wild listening to this. Got to do that. Anyway, here ya go.

Not gonna bother to dig into it at all, but am willing to predict that as this gets around a fair piece of our fanbase will validate his point pretty quickly.

In St Louis was planning on absolutely watching it alone, and then this came out of nowhere: got a text from 1 of my oldest friends who lives in Hagerstown, IN, which is basically Richmond. He says he’s gonna drive over Monday and watch it with me. So he’s gonna drive like 10 hrs round trip to watch it on my TV instead of his TV. Seems a little nuts, but this is what IUFB has done to otherwise sane people.

If 247 is to be believed, since IU offered Curry has received offers from Tennessee, Ohio St, Clemson, Xavier, Texas A&M and USC. I don’t imagine that will be the end of it. From a style of play standpoint Tennessee feels like a pretty good fit.

Paul VI ended up winning by 3, but just got to point that our ‘27 PG recruit dropped 21 on and outscored the #1 guard in the ‘26 class. The kid is really good.

Read somewhere that they had 2 different packages put together with him, 1 if he was the Guy next year and 1 if he wasn’t. No idea if it’s true but it certainly makes sense.

It really is. It also begs the question now: if the 2nd guy in this draft really is Simpson or Chambliss or whoever it is, Jesus, what is the #1 overall pick worth now? Mendoza’s in his own tier probably 2 levels above everyone else. Him and then no other legit 1st rd guys. The Raiders could ask for the moon, though there’s no way you don’t just take him.

I believe I read somewhere that they had a QB in their ‘25 class who is supposed to be a Guy and he was always going to be next.

Meyer might be a scumbag, but when he’s right he’s right and this is very well put.

I saw an awesome IU cheating video yesterday about their 4 1st drive interceptions this year. He clipped them and the 3 other than Ponds were: 1) a tipped ball at the line of scrimmage, 2) a throw that would have hit Fisher in the mask if he hadn’t caught it, and 3) a sideline pick as the QB was scrambling against PU. Seriously. We’ve arrived!

I’ll probably scribble some thoughts tonight. Special emphasis on Jason Crowe Jr, who might be a pretty fair example of a really talented kid who may not be worth the trouble.

If your top 2 scorers go 4-25 from 3 that’s a little rough.

It’s tough to imagine a trait Cig would have more contempt for than being erratic.

What’s the consensus on what’s diminished since he was hurt? Has he lost 1st step explosion, which might be pretty problematic given the nature of this team’s running scheme, or has he lost some lateral quickness, which would probably be a little lesser thing?

Was texting with an old high school friend who went to Michigan St, not about Marsh, and he was going on about how he’s insanely jealous and this doesn’t make any sense at all and WTH and all I could reply was sometimes $hit just happens and you catch lightning in a bottle and Cig is as lightning in a bottle as it gets.

Yup, the way she casually hammered that guy posting incorrect information on Marsh’s portal recruitment was pretty good stuff.

Love it. Couldn’t be happier for you and everyone who’s gotten to be a part of this ride up close. Life is experiences and memories. That’s it, that’s the list. 60 years from now your kid’s gonna be telling his great-grandkids about it and you’ll be there.
