  1. Use a clipboard with something soft to protect where its holding your phone...make sure to have a pen and occasionally act like you're writing something down...maybe mix in "Hey, we need a big hit right here" and the ageless "Waiting on you down here." They'll be none the wiser. Will it work? In the immortal word of Domingo Ayala...."Errytine."
  2. I like the patience, his hands, and his motor. He certainly had a Hanner-esque layup, but his work defensively will make any team better right now. Kids his age don't generally possess the patience it takes to really block/alter shots and he appears to live by it. Regardless of where this kid lands, I will watch him play.
  3. The first part of this is Oscar going up against Hurt.
  4. Dunno if anyone saw what Oscar Tshiebwe did against Hurt, but it's worth a viewing. Kid is a true rim protector and eats up a lot of space. It's one game and all, but Tshiebwe was patient and physical. I wouldn't put him above Jackson-Davis or Brooks in my personal list, but as far as need for this team goes...I would put him ahead of Hurt. I like the Hurt kid, bit he shrinks against physicality. I wondered why Chris007 said Hurts play wasnt received very well by the staff last weekend...go watch the Oscar Tshiebwe Adidas Gauntlet highlights and you'll see why. Hurt is going to make any team better, but the shrinking during physical play should be concerning to any Big Ten team. Maybe it was just one game, but it's something I would keep my eye on with Hurt going forward. Edit---- I added Oscars highlight video from the Adidas Gauntlet over under his name in the recruiting forum. Give it a view.
  5. Well played Chris...well played! :)
  6. I read that Vandy media take...after writing that, I think he should fear for his safety should he come here. That's wrong on every level to levy anything like that and then justify the position with Kentucky fan intel...come on. Totally ridiculous.
  7. Agreed. I do recall a summer game review from last summer that pretty well ripped in to Garland for taking too many shots and not facilitating the offense. Conversely, the same writer was gushing over Langford. If I find it, I'll link it.
  8. Yeah, I am guilty of that as well, but I sincerely felt that while Rob doesn't have the game of Garland yet, the overall package is just as desirable..if not moreso considering we filled a need and thumbed Purdue in the eye (and then again with Damezi). Garland has the talent and the game, but definitely needs some maturing to do...as a high level D1 talent and the leader of a team, how on Earth do you get suspended for locker room antics?
  9. I agree about becoming critical of recruiting losses...to a point. I doubt anyone here would question Langfords ability...as the hurt Vandy fans appear to be doing. We've questioned fit, we've questioned motivations, we've even questioned the recruiting process of recruits, but the ability...not so much. All fan bases grasp at explanations and then justifications. So I do agree we do it, just not the same way.
  10. I can't help myself. Hit me dealer! This is just fun today! :)
  11. Exactly. Paints themselves into a corner. Terrible wording on the release. Not saying I'm defending them, but that release will haunt them.
  12. Kansas claiming victim status....excuse me whilst I barf.
  13. I've got baseball coaches from when I was 10-12 years old that I still call Coach and pick their brain about what approach to take when teaching fundamentals of the game to my son. I would honestly hope that the great players Crean had here will still seek his advice and input. It didn't work out here from a team concept, but I will never question the ability of the man to impact individual lives on and off the court.
  14. Heard some bs explanation about how people kept mispronouncing his name and something about either a friend of the family who helped him or it's his mom's maiden name...I don't know. Either way, just sounded like a kid trying to add some mystery to himself...minus a hyphen. To me, it just sounds like a not so thought out porn name.
  15. You're not done yet man. Give thanks, make a difference...it's all we really need to be about. Good luck going forward! Glad you're ok!
  16. Just an observation, but the Duke bad-guy pretty much always ends up being just another dude in the NBA. Laettner, Reddick, etc...They all have had pretty good careers (sometimes longer than than the great players that Duke has had), but for all the attitude and pomp...it doesn't amount to much at the next level. In my view, the childlike behavior gets dealt with a little quicker and with a little more.... persuasion...than it does in college. That's how I feel about Allen. He can pack his bag with all those things he thinks will give him an edge, but will only result in a lighter paycheck and staring up at a grown man wanting an explanation. Allen could hit big shots, but his attitude really did him harm.
  17. Saw Hollowell play in the g league the other day on TV...pretty much the same player except he's going for a DeMarcus Cousins style with the uniform look. Line beard, headband, compression stuff....he looks the part, still doesn't play like it. He shot the ball on a possession and hit the side of the backboard...it was an uncontested shot.
  18. It was just a scrimmage at the beginning of the season, but Race dominated the inside during Hysteria. He was doing everything we saw Morgan doing. It was sad to know he was redshirting...I knew we had a need for him, but I understood it as well. During that same scrimmage, the differences between Race and Clifton were night/day. Race welcomed contact...almost begged for it, but Moore wanted none of it. He kept settling for a 6 foot and beyond jumpshot. Both guys needed defensive work, but I don't expect freshman to instantly get college defensive schemes. The speed and responsibility is a completely different animal. Again, Race appeared to welcome contact on defense..almost daring the guy to go through him, but Moore would stand straight up and allow his man to slip right by. I saw that many posters here wanted Moore to contribute at points throughout the year and gave very good reasons why he should be able to, but the player I saw at Hysteria was ill prepared for the college game in the Big Ten. Between the two, Race is going to be the biggest help inside...and its not even close. Just my worthless 2 cents.
  19. Agreed. Its overused.
  20. I sincerely hope that Trendon attends a school best fit for him. If it's Indiana, I love it. If it's Alabama, I understand it. If it's Georgia, better brush up on how to beat a zone or a packline defense.
  21. "Gonna get me a shirt..." Good lord. It's like he watched the Indiana presser all those years ago as a brush-up. Hope he finds his happiness, but it looks like the ego that did him in is alive and well. Stopping to drink a Coke....the full Crean experience indeed. ***This is a big aspect of Crean I never liked...the car salesman. For all the interaction the family and I had with him, the car salesman is literally his Mr. Hyde to his much better Dr. Jeykkl.
  22. Yeah...pretty sure they just name the whole field instead of doing any pod breakdowns. It's like "and heres the NIT entrants".
  23. Saw that a bit earlier. Good for Mike. Also spied an article saying Crean had interest in the Georgia job. Interesting choice.
