I seem to recall Davis making a pitch to Indiana to try and recruit Antoine when he was here a little while back. I'd take him just for the locker room help that we apparently still need. Full disclosure--- I never disliked Davis or his family on a personal level. His coaching and instate recruiting...that's another story.

I imagine he wanted to write "shut" but being that the "I" is right next to the "u" on the keyboard...it became a censorable word and there you have it. :)

Indiana vs Butler Game Thread 12/15

This man spoke for every IU fan on that last possession. "I'm not sitting down." "Get the ball to Romeo!" "What up Vic!" "Shoot the ****ing ball!!" "OHHHHHH!!!" :) HAHAHA! If we get the offense sorted out...great things await the team. -
Any team will always look great playing against a team as undisciplined and, frankly, lost as Villanova is this year. The talk now shouldn't be about Michigan's greatness, but Villanova's drastic fall.

For the past couple of years, I have watched the live stream on my TV via my computer using an HDMI cable, but if you have a Firestick or something along those lines you might be able to access a browser function or app, log in to BTN plus (with your subscription) and watch the game stream. The live stream isn't the best, but its Indiana basketball...I used to be my grandfather's "rabbit ear" antenna booster as a child...so my definition of acceptability of viewing will probably be different than most. Something to consider as a viewing method.

Secret Scrimmage vs Loyola of Chicago
Myrmidon76 replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Scenario work...yes, but the execution of those scenarios will lead to a result that worthy of study. Some things I have heard have been like..no 3 point baskets for 10 minutes....no shots until after a predescribed amount of passing....reduced shotclocks....4 minute scenarios...2 minute scenarios...no timeouts...over the limit on fouls. The scenarios are usually laid into the game framework with real referees calling real fouls....so the outcome is noteworthy. Let me say this, had the score been reversed, I'd be very disappointed. -
Secret Scrimmage vs Loyola of Chicago
Myrmidon76 replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think "some" members of the media are welcome through invitation only. I imagine established local media get the invite and regional/national media get left out. I have no way to confirm that other than getting information from scrimmages of this nature in years past from established local media members only. -
(2019) SF Trendon Watford to LSU
Myrmidon76 replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Giving Indiana some love, but it reads like he is heavy on Memphis. I'll only cheer against a Watford when they play Indiana (should he go elsewhere). Wish him nothing but success. -
Indiana not ranked in 2018 AP Preseason Poll
Myrmidon76 replied to KDB's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Michigan without Wagner is going to be interesting to watch. When he wasn't on the floor, they were just trying to hang on. I'll be curious to see how they adjust to their new roster. -
(2019) PF Matthew Hurt to Duke
Myrmidon76 replied to goonaha's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Dunno if I would recommend Hurt to be viewing how the program develops Romeo and only Romeo...it seems more plausible for Hurt to view how they develop the other one-and-done (albeit for other reasons)..Evan Fitzner. How can the program round out his game to become effective inside the arc? How good can the strength and condition help him to defend Big Ten forwards and effectively rebound? How can the coaching staff maximize his ability within the team concept? I get why he mentioned Romeo...but don't overlook the time/effort being put into Fitzner. -
Agreed. I was asked privately what I saw of Rob after my post the other day. My response was basically "He did fine, but I didn't see anything that put him over the other guards." I thought Rob did well with the group he was with, but he's not starter material and to be honest...its ok to let him watch the game, get some playing time, and grow. I will offer that I think Rob is definitely a player that can be used to make Green become better. Rob is definitely good enough to take Green's minutes if he starts playing hero ball..that's the way it should be. I want the "best" players starting, but too often we discount experience in favor of production (be it offense or defense). As long as Green/Durham show they can run the offense effectively and defend with purpose, let Rob grow and become a force.

I can't offer a lineup, but I can offer this: 1. Our opponents will have to guard the 3 point line with sincerity this year. The offense has a more balanced feel to it...I will admit that the guys took a few quick shots, but overall...the weight won't fall onto 1 shooter's ability. 2. Moore didn't look lost or overwhelmed. I don't know how he falls into the rotation, but he showed actual development. 3. Jerome Hunter was very, very physical with Langford on both ends. He is an "up in your face" defender and a true "bully" on offense. Needs to be a little more patient on his shot selection, but Hunter is definitely a Miller type player. 4. Langford appeared to be pressing a bit in the early part of the scrimmage, but he never let his offense determine his defense. Matter of fact, it appeared that his defense allowed his offense to settle in. The kid is extremely smooth..that floater in the lane was impressive and difficult to stop. 5. Anderson has a big upside. He took decent shots and attacked the glass and stayed in control. Probably needs to increase his vision on offense, but I feel confident he can do that. 6. Race Thompson and Jake Forrester are going to completely change the tone of our interior play. They were physical and played through contact. 7. Durham shot the ball with noticeable confidence. I'm going to remain guarded with his shot until he does it consistently in the flow of the offense, but he took shots when he should and they were going in. 8. I have to say that it appeared that most of the upperclassmen were going, at best, 1/2 speed. The effort on defense was consistently inspired, but the upperclassmen were deferring to the new guys (Fitzner included). Just my opinion. 9. Smith, Morgan, Green, McRoberts all did good things, but again...they appeared to defer to the new guys. Anyways, that's my way too early assessment. Things will change for sure, but this team has a noticeable difference in approach from last year's Hysteria. I think it's an improvement...time will tell.

So what we are seeing from Smith would be max vert then? Wow! Hope it translates.
-
I'm with this right here. If I recall, the freshman were on video earlier in the summer showing a standing vertical. You can clearly hear Smith get a head start. That being said, Smith did outleap Forrester for the tip in the scrimmage...and Jake is no slouch about getting up.

(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
Myrmidon76 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
That's Troy Williams like. Just plain nasty! -
Numbers aren't there. My comment was more along the lines of technique.
-
Zone offense is pretty good. Not the most explosive to the rim. Possesses a Hulls like release. Rebounds fundamentally well...clears the ball intelligently. I see a contributor as he was with St.Marys...not a superstar, but certainly someone who can contribute at a position with a lot of unknowns next season.

This seems legit. An Achilles in January wont be ready by October/November...hell probably not even January. I'd recommend redshirt.
