Lol yup agreed. I think if he had that "screw it" attitude he would probably be looked at in higher regard by people who think Jordan is better. I'm not the biggest Lebron fan, but I do recognize his greatness. It's 1a and 1b as far as I'm concerned.
-
I said it earlier, but in my opinion you can't really use % averages in situations like that. It's a completely different shot than in rhythm during the game. There's a lot more pressure and a guy like Lebron should look for his shot more often in those situations. You want the best player on the court with the ball in his hands, not a role player who isn't use to that type of situation. i get Lebron's thinking, I just am of the opinion that it's flawed. Especially seeing how clutch he actually is in those late game situations.
-
That's certainly true, but in my opinion when the games on the line there's a certain "clutch factor" that comes into place. That type of shot isn't your normal run-of-the-mill game flow shot. I think you kinda have to take percentages with an asterisk in that situation because adrenaline is running higher, a lot of guys might be more anxious about it. Again this is just my opinion but the mindset is different which is why an open shot for a role player is probably worse than a more contested shot for somebody who's use to being in that position.

I was only addressing mentally weak because you referenced it in your post. Other than that, I think it's all up to subjectiveness on this matter as the arguments seem to have been made ad nauseum. I don't have a problem with people calling Lebron mentally weak as I view it as different from intelligence. One could argue the best shot is always when it's in Lebron's hands, just like it was in Jordan's. But it's all up to interpretation and how you view them.
-
Jordan wasn't more mentally tough because he had rings. Jordan was mentally tough because he wanted the ball in his hands and his hands only at the end of games. Everyone on the court knew it was going to him and he still made them look silly. Lebron defers a lot of the time in those situations and it's cost him. Jordan wanted it all on his shoulders. Jordan was also the guy dishing out trash talk while he had the ball in his hands. Remember the "midget" phrase? Lebron is a guy that gets visibly upset at someone calling him a *****. That's where the killer instinct and mentally weak phrases come in. Lebron is an incredibly smart guy. Calling someone mentally weak is different than saying they're stupid. It's all about context.

(2018) SF - Jerome Hunter Transfers To Xavier
VO5 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
With recruiting news kinda slow I've been watching a ton of our recruits highlights. Jerome REALLY excites me. If he can become a legit 2 guard, we could potentially have a star on our team. He's got the length and athleticism already to hang with pros. Has a nice shot with a quick release. Handles are pretty good but can use a little work. Give him 1 season and he'll be a stud. I know it's early and I'm high on him, but he has tons of NBA potential. -
But yet, he apparently doesn't read it or get involved in it..lol

I'm glad you can post Crean's tweets. I was blocked a while back for responding to a tweet of his that said something like "it shows a sign of weakness and lack of mental toughness when players put their hands on their knees during a game" I tweeted a pic of Michael Jordan doing that exact thing and got blocked lol. The guy has incredibly thin skin.

It's so obvious WKU is using shady tactics. How is the NCAA not at Stansbury's doorstep?

What. Is. This. I cant stop laughing

That name..lol. I seriously thought he was going to an actual state fair for a second.

(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA
VO5 replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I have no idea about the timetable for his recruitment, but that is sounding really good for us. -
Agreed. I like that Durham is impressing this summer, but if he's getting a lot of meaningful minutes it likely means 1 or 2 of JN, RJ, CJ, and DG aren't progressing very well.

Who gets the ball in late shot clock situations
VO5 replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Agree 100%. Davis for a 2, and Johnson for a 3. I believe Archie previously said he wants us to thrive on getting to the foul line and I think Davis gives us the best shot at doing that. Dark horse is Morgan as he has a knack for getting fouled as well. -
We'll agree to disagree here.
-
Maybe yours isn't. But at the majority of places it is. Witnessed it too many times in HS.
-
I have to laugh at this one. Yes, yes it is.
-
I really hope you're wrong. Lagow is way too inconsistent to lead us anywhere we want to be. At this point he is what he is, which is an average, inconsistent QB.
-
Another key factor for this year is that we obviously have less individual talent, but I think we will be much more of a "team". We don't have a surefire NBA player on the roster trying to get his. That will lead to a lot of selfless basketball and a more fun team to watch, IMO.
-
As of right now I expect us to outperform expectations. I'm thinking anywhere from 5-7 in the BIG, with 21 wins for the season and a tourney bid. I don't know much about the team right now and projected starters. With limited information I'd guess we go with: 1. Newkirk 2. Johnson 3. Hartman 4. Morgan 5. Davis Thats the most talented starting 5 Archie has had, so I expect him to do well. I think we'll hit some bumps early in the season but by March we'll be hitting our stride. Looking forward to it!

I have zero confidence in Lagow. Fully expect Ramsey to be the starter at some point this year, and I hope it's sooner rather than later.

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
VO5 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Like Brass said, he's waiting to see if there are any injuries, early leavers, etc. He wants to know the teammates he will have and the situation that will give him the best opportunity to build his brand. It makes total sense to wait until the spring. -
All I have to say about that is..what the hell lol
-
I know. I get the length part, but it isn't everything. Positional awareness and as you said, having a knack for getting into the passing lanes. Also, quickness and agility play a big part.
-
Devonte was one of our best defenders last year, CuJo, not so much. Things can obviously change in a year, but I feel much more comfortable with Green's defense
