  1. I mentioned it yesterday but Norlander has said several times this season that he didn’t take UL due to the fishbowl of it. No idea if that’s true. He Never mentioned the low buyout demand, and I have never found anything to support that oft mentioned claim. Maybe it’s true that it was a deal breaker? I dunno. In that same vein though, I agree with you I don’t understand where this “not an alpha” thing comes from lol. I don’t care if he’s a statue if he wins games. I know I don’t like Hurleys antics.
  2. I just don’t think we will consider him. The baggage is the only reason he’s even a legitimate candidate. There isn’t one without the other. No baggage=he’s still coaching his alma mater. But I understand your sentiment. Personally I don’t think we get to the McCollums so to speak. If we do, so be it, but I don’t think we get that far down the list.
  3. I think with Stevens one thing that cannot be overlooked is his ability to construct a roster to his system, and the fact his coaching staff would probably be elite as well. So IMO, for him, being a grinder so to speak may be secondary to surrounding the program with the best minds/assistant grinders he can. Whereas Dusty would not have the draw from a staff perspective like Stevens. But I think it is definitely a valid Con in the discussion for Brad. For me, the bigger one would simply how long he's been our of CBB. I do not think it would ultimately matter do to what I already stated, but if we are being honest I think it is valid. All this grinder talk is making wish the airport I am whiling away in had a sub shop lol
  4. There is too much meat on the bone of that story IMO to have been all gathered or vetted in the last couple weeks or less. Doyel has been sitting on this information. Lots of it is almost exactly what that hysterics podcast from months ago airing the laundry more or less said or alluded to. Would not surprise me if he also knows the answers to the Matta-Fife questions as well, but is choosing to withhold. Maybe my tinfoil hat is too tight, also a possibility.
  5. I was able to read it, thanks. That is about as scorched earth as I would have ever expected from Doyel. Although, it is somewhat frustrating because it obviously shows what insiders have known (and we have postulated on) about his tenure that was not being reported to prevent loss of access (my guess). Pretty wild stuff.
  6. Given the ads I get on here, I may be and old lady, but I really do not care for Hurley's antics on the sideline. I like some fire but its needs to be a balance between Armond hill asleep and a raging psycho.
  7. I like McCasland a lot but is he realistic? Guy is a Texas lifer, with short stints elsewhere close to the Red River. My experience with Texans, is that they love Texas and never want to leave Texas lol. Plus I would not be shocked if UT opens again, and I gotta think he'd number 1 short of Drew leaving Baylor and Grant going home to Baylor.
  8. Feels like we had a lot of people lurking, waiting for the Woody shoe to drop. Welcome, post and lose the jockstrap!
  9. Dang it! lol Okay. Here we go...
  10. Oof. This is tough, but I guess I have to go Crean/Archie/Woodson Team We All Got Fired Starters- IM STARTING TWO BIGS BABY LETS GO Yogi Romeo Dipo TJD Zeller Bench- Hulls OG Watford Juwan Bryant Team We Also Both Got Fired: Starters- Bracey EJ Jeffries Haston DJ Bench- Moye Fife Vaden Marco Deandre
  11. I am really curious if they would even consider announcing someone not currently coaching cough Brad cough before the season was over. After that glowing retirement announcement, it feels like handling Woody with kid gloves would mean Dolson would not and could not make an announcement until he is actually done. If so, as a couple have said, it is gonna be a long wait lol.
  12. I will bite, as I am staunchly in the No pile for Beard. There are many reasons for this, from being a victim advocate, to having a close understanding of DV and how complicated it is to adjudicate. Not rehashing Beard or his actions beyond that. To accept the hire? That is difficult. I would accept it from the standpoint I as a nobody have no control and have to trust that the AD and University did a thorough job vetting. That does not mean I cannot also object morally. A lot of us kept getting called names for having that opinion and given strawman "wELL wOuLD yOu sToP RoOtInG FoR IU" questions. I can object to a hire and still root for my alma mater, both things can be true. I am not a choir boy. I know what the inside of Hamilton County Jail looks like, and not as a visitor. But not for violence. I would be fine with Few, and he has a DUI. Certain issues are more complicated than simply "accept the hire." There are certain lines, that for me cannot be crossed, and DV is one of them. There may not be fire so to speak, but there was a TON of smoke. Anyways, sorry if that is clear as mud. And that will be the last time I discuss Chris Beard beyond his coaching status. Cheers.
  13. I dunno, Dusty really could not afford to wait. Coaching jobs are fickle, and coming off that two year run at FAU his earning potential/interest would probably not ever be higher without taking a step up in competittion. If it was not going to be us, it was going to be someone else. One thing I wonder about that I really only have heard on Eye on CBB (which is an underrated/accurate podcast) is Norlander saying that he apparently was not interested in the fishbowl aspect of UL. He has mentioned it a couple times. They never mention any "low buyout" demands as sinking that deal. That it was Dusty choosing not to go to that job. Not saying that axes us or anything or that IU obviously is not different, but it is interesting.
  14. I gotta think the proven NIL support is very attractive to big names. The national media and fans in my area (all Duke, UNC, Clemson people) have really no understanding of how much money our program has. That said, lets lock up our boy, laugh at all the national media types and be done with it lol Edit: It has been fun letting people know how much we paid for this roster because jaws are always on the floor. Except for the UNC people who know they got outbid for Ballo, who they needed sooooo bad.
  15. The mods need to take some of their ad money from this thread and hire someone to deep dive for a greatest hits of commentary before they start to contemplate its retirement and whether to let it finish the coaching search. Just my humble opinion.
  16. I just don't think Wright is a realistic candidate based on his own words, that said, if we are doing pure wish list and including him, my list is adjusted (I also do not think Pearl is in there this time after last year but I will include it): 1. Jay 1A. Brad 1B. Few 2. Pearl 3. Drew Field. I am not rehashing the reasons and I do not think he will be considered, but I will say this for Beard: if an extremely thorough vetting process comes back clear (it wont), and he has very strict moral clauses I could squint and see it i guess. I do not have to agree morally with a hire to root for my alma mater. I rooted for them every game despite knowing every win was bad for the FMW train. That said, if any of the Number 1s actually get hired, I am gonna be insufferable as a MF around other CBB fans lol
  17. I would not have thought Few possible until the yeagley bomb, but now that it is out I think my list is, 1.Brad 2.Mark Few (anyone thinking this would not be an absolute grand slam and nuclear bomb across the bow of CBB is huffing paint) 3. Drew, Scott 4. Dusty 5. The field.
  18. Yea I am guessing the delays were the Lawyers a-Lawyerin' and getting things in writing/agreement.
  19. I am happy. Coach SZN and I can feel less weird about wanting us to win. Also, the announcement specifically mentioning the Michigan game is pretty GD funny. They know that's gonna be ugly if we start to lose.
  20. This was a very long winded way of saying: Please Clap.
  21. "After much consideration, Head Coach Mike Woodson has decided to retire at the end of the season. The University thanks Mike and his family for their contributions to the program, and will immediately start conducting a search to find the future coach for Indiana Basketball." Or something to that effect. Book it.
  22. Listened to Eye on CBB on the way to the airport today, (IU starts a 35 minutes if anyone is interested) and the best part was Parrish taking a not so subtle shot at our “kinda sorta possibly open job.” He also reacted to the “unlikely to return next season” line with “no sh*t” lol Edit: Also dragged (again I might add) for not canning him last year.
  23. Naw man, I’m pretty F***** far from okay. Appreciate that softball as a chance to use Ving Rhames in real time lol.
  24. Blaming IT issues is a pastime for me. Me, an idiot: No Internet, What Do? IT Dept: Sir, have you attempted a restart?
