True, but Gonzaga is a cult. I was born in Spokane. Lloyd was there for two decades and is from WA.
-
The guy is a winner, but he’s beaten nobody. I think there is a parallel with Cig, but Cig had to play some better teams. McCollum has beaten nobody, ever, and walked into a great situation at Drake. Even with his “D2” players. I’d be happy with him, but i think some people are being blinded by the record. This will be a hot take, but McCollum at the D1 level reminds me of Archie. *Ducks* Takes over a program that wins, continues to win, gets promoted. He makes a run in March and McCollum is gonna have the same heat Archie did.

I like him, surprised he hasn’t come up, but I have read in a couple places he may be waiting for Gonzaga once Few is done.

Gary Parrish calling a spade a spade and saying how stupid we were for not firing Woody last year and hiring Dusty is like the most normal national take I’ve heard. We could have had him, we should have had him, and now he’s in first place at a place with as much money as IU if not more.
-
I like Buzz, and think he’s done well at some tough spots. That said, I’m guessing A&M would overpay potentially to keep him beyond where we would be will to go for someone in his tier. They have infinity money.

I don’t like mine super hot, it’s a personal preference. I get it though for sure. Sweet spot for me is like 95-110 proof.

I’m gonna get fired for not being in the booze thread, but right now, Barrel Foundation. I can’t sing its praises enough at the price point.

I have extended olive branches and tried to find common ground with almost every poster I disagreed with (except NGW that guy can eat a bowl of lukewarm d***s, but I digress). I’m sure plenty of folks know I am liberal with the unlimited likes if someone makes a good point or funny post. The like machine goes brrrrrr sometimes, (sorry guys I like bourbon). I think you’ve made some good points, delivery notwithstanding. That said, I’m gonna let you in on a MASSIVE secret here: We all know on some level, landing Brad Stevens is a long shot, hence, white whale. But it’s fun to talk about, it’s fun to hear rumors about. You know what’s not fun to hear about? Me, defending Mick Cronin compared to Buzz Williams lol, That’s not fun for anyone. Obviously, until option 1 is a no (it’s not yet) and we move to the obvious option 2, we will have fun discussing option 1. And if you want to discuss or debate other options, plenty of people will join in (me too if it’s pro-Cronin in tier 3..skewer away fam). And the mods here are great, and super knowledgable, they’ll jump into just about any coach debate with pros and cons even if they refuse to give me emojis. TL;DR: Brads a long shot, we know that.

Also, if we didn't get tidbits from our insiders we would be in a caustic whirlpool of arguments consisting of, but not limited to: 1. Is Chris Beard a POS? Does it matter if he wins games? 2. Can McCollum beat anyone and does he hate the three pointer? Many people are asking. 3. Does Mick Cronin actually win .680 of his games? Or is it a mirage that he is probably whining about as we speak? 4. Just how much money would we have to give to the Alabama football NIL fund to buy Nate Oats? 5. Is Brad Brownell mid, and does Stu secretly want him to be head coach? Many people also curious. 6. Why hasn't Hova started an BTB NIL fund with leftover FMW ad revenue? I will continue to annihilate this dead horse. 7. How old is Bruce Pearl? Is he old-old, or young-old? Feel free to add to the list if I have forgotten any to pass the time!

Took me a minute to find this, but this was flying around with my friends back when we wanted Crean canned. Better with sound, and safe for work. Enjoy.

I definitely think some smoke would leak out, but either way the longer we go without Brad killing it will make this a long two weeks lol

To be fair to Shertz he also has that team in 4th place that finished second to last last season and has eclipsed last seasons total conference win total. They are also 200 spots better in adjusted defensive efficiency. They have taken a slight step back on offense. McCollum took over a team that went 27-8 last season. The conferences IMO are comparable given the rankings, but the edge probably goes to the A10. Shertz has made clear improvements to a team that was not good last season. McCollum has continued at a program that has won 25+ every season since 2020-21. St. Louis hasn't won 25 in over a decade. TL;DR: I still like Shertz and think he will continue building SLU. McCollum is also a good coach, but landed in a much better spot.

And upend this ridiculous media narrative. The Woody pity party has been nauseating. I had friends with no knowledge of IU asking “why did your coach decide to retire?”
-
Is there a Wagner family that donates to IU?
-
One thing I keep coming back to is that Brad is going to have to address this soon. Way too much noise around him, so the longer this goes without a new Masshole 2k25 comment, the better for us IMO.

Logging on after a full day of meetings and seeing 30 new pages always gets the juices flowing. That was quite the catch up session to finish my day. We deserve good news, so I’m believing it’s gonna be good news. And regardless of what happens, Woody is gone. Nice win last night too. Things are good.

Got any good ones for the not on twitter fam? Lol

It seems like it would be easy enough for Stevens to be eliminated quickly if he either 1. wasn’t a realistic option or 2. Doesn’t want to leave Boston. The fact that this has continued, to me, seems to indicate it’s a real possibility. Stevens and Boston don’t need a week of pretend Stevens/IU negotiations to hammer out a new deal. There is zero reason not to shut it down immediately. Boston, IU, and Stevens all know Stevens has all the leverage he wants or needs. There is zero logical reason to string this along, unless he is actually considering taking the IU job. Just my worthless two cents from a 30,000’ view.

I think the ACC circling the drain could certainly see a coach like Kelsey looking for a golden parachute to the B1G or SEC. I don’t think UL gets considered for either if FSU and UNC leave the ACC. Most likely end up in the Big12, which has a nice media deal.

You beat me to it. My COO has openly interviewed and been head hunted for a couple CEO positions elsewhere. It was never a secret. Our organization understands we will lose an amazing COO if our CEO doesn’t retire before he feels the need to move on. It’s not uncommon at all.

FWIW, I followed the Harbs hiring pretty closely due to Michigan ties and numerous alumni in my family, and the narrative surrounding that was very similar. NFL fans and media were basically saying zero chance he leaves the NFL, and UM fans and insiders were essentially the only people saying it legitimately could happen. NFL and CFB media didn’t just think it wouldn’t happen, there was open mockery of UM and its fans for believing it would. Mgoblog was on top of it from the start. The circumstances aren’t exactly the same, but all the media noise nationally is strikingly similar IMO. Doesn’t mean anything, just my own observation.
