  1. Careful, we’ve already established a round only counts if it’s the one you lose in lol.
  2. Well the numbers say he is. If your “eye-test” says otherwise that’s understandable and I’m not gonna litigate it again, you and I have already lol.. we have different opinions on that, all good. You missed the main point of what I said. He’s top-5 in the realistic options if we are being honest about who is coming to IU. No one here making a wish list is gonna have him top-5 because no ones top-5s are generally rooted in reality. Cronin is somewhere in the 6-10 range, which is most likely the pool we find a coach if Dusty says no. I’ve always thought that, but there was no reason to argue it, we had plenty of trolls here to tell us how unrealistic we were.
  3. Cronin isn’t in anyone’s top-5 I don’t think. What I do think is he’s in the top-5 of good coaches who would actually say yes to coming to IU. I much prefer fun rumors on a free forum that may or may not be true according to the Postal Service* That said and I’ve chided the trolls on this repeatedly— I, and many I would guess, never thought chances of Brad was that realistic. 0%? No, there’s a chance. Over 25%? No way. So where does that leave us? With a ton of eggs in the Dusty basket. He says no? Where does that leave us? Otz, Drew, Oats, Few, Beard, Pearl, et. al. Are not walking through the door. I’d put any of those at less than 5% chance if I’m being honest and making odds. So some combination of the field is what I would bet on. And Cronin isn’t a bad option of the field. Even he is moot anyways unless the buyout was renegotiated. No whale booster is gonna pay that ridiculous buyout for a Cronin.
  4. Well it’s not really “high” to fire him, it’s actually pretty low compared normal contract language. It’s 70% of remaining comp. Most from what I can tell are generally 90%+. (Kelsey gets 95% for example). So either his agent sucks, or UM wasn’t completely sold that he was not another flash in the pan— which lots of people here argued last spring. Let’s say Dusty wasn’t good. They give him three years. They’d owe him considerably less than we would owe Woody to leave after 4 if he had been fired, not retired (lol). It’s an incredibly friendly deal for Michigan. Like laughably so. The voluntary buyout is for sure low, I just don’t think there’s any planet where Michigan negotiates that strictly for Dusty to benefit and bolt after one season. Not with how bad the involuntary is for him. Honestly his whole contract is pretty wonky compared to others, but if I was to chalk that up to anything it would be Michigan not being all in on basketball. It’s important there absolutely, but it is and will always be an afterthought. Maybe it really was “I’ll agree to an incredibly bad deal if I get fired if you agree to a relatively low voluntary buyout” that just seems really unlikely to me. sorry for the ramble, I find these contract things fun, it’s wild in the NBA lol
  5. This was always the risk of not firing Woody when a serious program would have. Dusty’s earning/job power could only go down staying at a job as bad as FAU. He was always leaving whether it was for us or someone else. Anyone thinking Dusty has a low buyout because he “knew” IU would most likely be open is huffing paint. Both of his buyouts (vol/nonvol) are relatively low. It’s for the same reason a not insignificant amount of people here thought Dusty “wasn’t ready” and “needed to prove it at P5” before getting a job like IU. Dusty didn’t go into a negotiation and say, “Thanks, for giving me the first high major job of my career, but I’m am going to need you to leave my voluntary departure buyout reasonable to help a conference rival hire me away next season in case they fire their shitty coach and I turn out to be a good coach.” It’s utter nonsense. We missed the boat. Hope I am wrong, and I’m not saying I don’t think one day he will coach at IU, but I have a really hard time believing it will be next season.
  6. I mean, the student section basically names itself with this option, which is a tick for Pro column in my opinion… JANS’ FANS Please don’t delete me. Edit: the students behind the basket could all have IU hand fans to wave….. okay might just delete myself.
  7. You misunderstand me, I liked it. That’s the type of post we need. I too was joking, kind of :)
  8. If McCasland loses tonight and I have to cross him off the list too, my list is going to have no names on it. Need a win tonight, let’s go.
  9. And I was sitting here thinking that new guy was being a buzzkill, thanks for that little reminder Wayne.
  10. Am I crazy or does this really sound like he’s politicking for our job lol, hard to not see that as a shot direct across Woodys bow. Ego, booing, message board noise? That seems awfully close to home. Or maybe UCLA fans want him as fired as we wanted Woody.
  11. There's a button for that.
  12. Picture this: Brad Stevens and Jim Gray Boston area Boys and Girls Club Primetime Television The Bradcision
  13. That was a weekly occurrence in McNutt.
  14. Underrated insult tbh. Now I have to find a way to call someone Big Fella and Pencil Neck in the same day at work.
  15. *Aggressively adjusts oversized pants and slams some ambiguous liquid in a dasani bottle*
  16. That's six days in a row. Hova REALLY has some 'splainin to do now.
  17. I absolutely would welcome TC back in a support role of some sort. I don't think thats crazy at all.
  18. I perused my favorite UM forum to try and get sense for how they feel, and the general consensus is if DM wants to go to IU there is nothing their AD can do about it. They also have gone on and on about their current AD being fairly slow to act in other situations like this in sports not named football. They seem to have a sane opinion about it based on their Harbaugh experience and a coach going home. That said, they think almost to a person that our job is decidedly mid, and if it were not for his ties we would have no shot. They also think we ended up with Woody because we couldn't get anyone better lol, so take that with a giant helping of salt.
  19. I think that is generally true, but I was chewing on it more and thought it might actually be in his interest to play it out. If Dusty makes a run in the tournament, his bargaining power both with us and Michigan will be through the roof. Likely it is already far beyond someone of his career because of us waiting a year too long, but he goes out and wins the B1G and makes runs in BTT and NCAAs he will essentially be able to name his price. As long as he doesn't sign with UM it is a good thing, but the longer this goes the pricier it gets IMO.
  20. Sounds a lot more sane now lol
  21. I’ll defend this fanbase as the best until I’m blue in the face, but even I’ll admit we would have run that MF off for losing to a 16 lol
  22. Minus a couple final fours and BigTen championships, but yea, close.
  23. You having a legit back and forth humoring this dude has been killing me today. This has been high comedy. Our random new guy a day with hot takes streak is at like five if you’re scoring at home.
