  1. Yea I don’t doubt that, but that doesn’t answer my question of where this weird narrative that Dusty negotiated a smaller buyout to be able to bolt to IU after one season came from. Of all the stuff we throw around here, UL turning down his “buyout demand” is maybe the silliest. He pretty clearly chose Michigan over UL and Vandy—not Michigan was the only school willing to agree to a small IU buyout clause. I can’t find anything to support that.
  2. I asked before but it got buried, what are people basing this on? I’ve seen nothing anywhere other than Louisville wanted him and he declined. Eye on CBB mentioned again yesterday that one of the reasons he didn’t take UL was the fish bowl aspect. They’ve mentioned it several times, never anything about a buyout demand. It’s also not really that low for a first time P4 coach. I’m not trying to antagonize, I’m genuinely curious how this narrative of Dusty wanting a low buyout started.
  3. I don’t either, that’s why I mentioned the long shots. If we are talking top-20 head coach money across any sport college or pro even Oats or Wright might raise an eyebrow. There are not many coaches in sports making 8 figures, seems like Stevens being the only option for that if we can afford it is selling it short. If we are willing to offer Stevens 100 Million it seems like we should also be prepared to offer it to the likely no votes. Just a thought.
  4. Someone else mentioned it earlier and apologies for the lack of credit on this, but would we not throw that number at some of the other super long shots? Oats, Few, Wright, et. al.? Or is 9 figures a Stevens and only Stevens number? If the answer is IDK I understand completely, just curious. Seems odd to go from 100 Million to Brad to Dusty which won’t cost top 10 coach money IMO.
  5. I’ve wondered this for a while, is anything about having BOT this involved or controlling AD decisions remotely normal? It feels like athletic departments that are dual successful you don’t hear about board people or former board people having anything to do with the AD unless there are really weird circumstances. I am sure it happens, but it just seems like IU is unwilling to let the athletic director do their job. The board should just be saying “aye” to the things the AD wants to do.
  6. Gary Payton and Kenn Nunn showing up here today was not on my BTB bingo card but I am here for it.
  7. Easy way to quell the rumors is just take the f***** job lol.
  8. It does seem high, 11.5 would mean the Celts are paying more for him to be front office than all but like 4 head coaches.. I can’t imagine that’s the case for an exec but who knows.
  9. We’ve entered the Indiana University: Coaching Search 2K25 Game of Thrones Edition portion of the search and the job has only been open for three days. This place is amazing.
  10. To be fair, I’d bolt from Purdue at the first chance I got too.
  11. I wasn’t trying to discount that fact, and I agree with you, just merely an observation. But if he wasn’t interested, that was about the most non-shutdown response he could have formulated lol
  12. Dusty’s response in the post game really was a master class in putting pressure on his current employer while clearly keeping the IU option open. If it does go beyond Brad, this will be interesting. I also wonder about leaving a job after one season. I don’t know Dusty personally at all, but it doesn’t seem like something he would do on the surface.
  13. Are moderators eligible for workers comp from thumb injuries? You hearing what I’m hearing? Sounds like a Hova 10% stake ad revenue lawsuit to me.
  14. This is an underrated point. I’d be happy with a potato on the sideline at this point if it meant no more WoodyBall. But hey, there isn’t a fanbase in the country as good at coaching search szn as us, and I think that’s really beautiful.
  15. Like I said, freedom of movement, Stu.
  16. As a vest guy, you don’t know what you’re missing. The freedom of movement with no jacket, while still announcing “I’m 100% classy” is hard to beat. I can brick a couple J’s in the driveway waiting on my wife to be ready and not worry about the tie getting in the way of my silky jumper. It’s the best of both worlds.
  17. Buzz sorta just looks like Cronin with less wins and tournament success. Argument for Cronin having easier jobs to win at though I Guess.
  18. I’m not bothering with the discussion on his past, but I will pose a question. Let’s assume you are willing to ignore all the issues with Beard, or just call them fake news and hand wave them— after nearly 10 years of futility do you really believe that IU can take the risk of something happening and torpedoing the hire? When something with this candidate has already happened and torpedoed a job for him elsewhere? The next hire at IU is going to be the highest stress position in CBB. Period. There will not be a coach in the country under more pressure to win and keep winning. Can we take the chance on him imploding when there are lots of other good options? Look, if Beard wasn’t laden with baggage that Dolson wouldn’t get through the first presser without getting asked about, he’d be the obvious choice. Unfortunately that is not the case. The “whining” isn’t anymore annoying than people stumping for a guy who is never getting considered because of what he did to lose his last high profile job.
  19. Chris Beard circle jerk back on the menu today I see.
  20. Plus we have verifiable data that you offer enough money they will come and play in a system that makes no sense for their skill sets lol. I realized after responding to @MikeRobertsabout this that we literally convinced high usage downhill guards to come play at place that plants two bigs in the paint all the time.
  21. I think this nails my biggest concern beyond the style which is whether kids with high major talent/NBA aspirations would want to play in it. It is one thing to run a system well in D1 with D2 talent, but as Stu has said repeatedly, this is against the little sisters of the poor. I am not convinced it translates against better athletes unless you can convince top end athletes to commit to it. So he either has to speed it up, or hope the system overcomes the talent or athletic disparity a la Bennet.
  22. Not gonna lie it even spun me out at first, but I dont even remember what city I am in at this point of my "work week" but I really hope people wake up, see your ninja edit to fix the font tomorrow and think I time traveled backwards to somehow respond before you posted this.
  23. These are more fun when you don't give us the answer, and I try to figure it out before someone else does and posts the answer (I never do). Booooooo.
  24. There's a button for that if you do not want to see posts from people who disagree with your opinion.
