Yep, I am not in any way saying the Celts cant make a more lucrative offer. But if 92m over 10 is the offer, that would put him in the top-10 in the NBA, and #2 in CBB. It is not insignificant even for someone who is already wealthy. Adding his personal connections makes it silly to just hand wave the possibility.

I get that Stevens is a long shot, but people are discounting the money piece. I understand rich guys that aren't motivated by money. I deal with them every day. 40 million across say 6 years probably does not move the needle for someone in Brads tax bracket. 100 Million does not just get you in the door, that gets you serious consideration. Throw in the personal and family connections, and the near 9 figures can push something like this over the top. Just my opinion. TL;DR: The money also matters. Anyone thinking that BS won't take a very long and very serious look at that deal (I am assuming Yeags is accurate), is missing a serious factor.

We left Indiana and moved to Michigan before high school, and my entire family on my mom’s side is from Michigan. My grandfather taught at UM. My mom went there. It’s basically the second place I’m from other than Indiana. All of my friends and family that follow CBB closely and are Michigan fans/alumni are not super excited about his post game comments and the fact there’s zero rumors of contract negotiations leaking out. They are very nervous. Long winded way of saying I think you’re right he’s not working on an extension with UM, yet anyways.

McCasland is my favorite of the “field.” The guy can flat out coach. Won at every stop and winning now. He is Cignetti with (limited) P4 experience. .750 coach. Just wonder if he’d be waiting for Texas or his alma mater (Baylor) to open.

He really on Saturday seemed like the only national guy looking around going “do you all really not think IU could not pull someone big?” He’s like the only person I saw acknowledge the top of the B1G budget, top ten national NIL, and how much of a sell those would be.

Preface with I am not stumping for Cronin, just pointing out some stuff. The guy has won 70% of his games at every stop. Like remarkable consistency, that no one we’ve hired since RMK has had. Also people think UCLA has resources? That school is in the red and has notoriously bad NIL. Again, I don’t really want him, but IU could do much worse than Cronin.

I’ll go ahead and say it *ducks*. I would be fine with Cronin, we’d be consistently good. We spent a half a week on how IU needs an “alpha” (I hate that goofy term), strong personality, etc. etc. It doesn’t really get more strong personality than a guy who publicly called his players delusional, and has now gone like 6-2 since or whatever they are. There, I said it. I in no way believe it gets to Cronin, and Goodman is a low down dirty snitch.

I think the Trilly piece is really interesting here, and probably confirms that there is one target right now and until that target says no, the search doesn’t shift. Part of me also wonders about the stuff Thamel said on Saturday. He made it pretty clear there was and would be a lot of interest in our job with the proven NIL. How hilarious would it be if Woody getting 5 million in roster money to fail got us a huge name lol

We just get a bad rap because we’ve done this so many times. UNC fans in my area are losing their minds over Hubie/plenty want him fired and he was ACC coach of the year last season. The NIL/transfer era giveth and taketh, and programs like KU and UNC are learning this isn’t 2012 where recruits magically wanna go to *checks notes* Lawrence Kansas. Bama and UGA are learning this now too in football. Whereas once they would stack 4/5 star talent on the three deep, and hoarding it away from other schools, now they can’t.

I actually like the idea of them using a corporate rental jet to provide some anonymity versus using an aircraft we know is leased/owned by one of the whale sized boosters. Not that it would throw us off the scent lol, but this is interesting because it means someone specifically chartered this flight from Boston to Bloomington. This is not some rich guy flying around. This is a rental.

Half the fanbase is gonna be against an IU alumni, Bob Knight student manager, has a Final Four, and has a team that won 8 games total a year ago at 10-2 and tied for second in the B1G? I think that's maybe just a tad hyperbolic.

I made the comment in the game thread about Michigan going up big and pissing away leads, but I do think that problem would have been materially diminished had Johnell been allowed to transfer. I still think Dusty would win gobs of games here.
