Daughter lives in San Diego near Balboa Park...used to work in marketing for San Diego State. She does not follow SDSU sports. Just said that she was surprised that she did not hear any yelling in her neighborhood when they won. My wife and I were watching the end of the game and spot checks throughout. All I saw was missed 3s. And rebounds. And players roughing it up...

Indiana Players Now In The Portal

Lately it was his sinuses. Heard that others have slow feet. And/or low motor. Ah, yes, some have no brain, no heart or no courage. Maybe the Wizard could help. He helped UCLA years ago. -

Wow! Great story, BL. I probably used the wrong terminology. Did not intend to imply that you were a professional gambler. Was somewhat trying to point out my own inability to be objective. And emphasizing your ability, and those at the top, to be objective. As you said...vote with your head; cheer with your heart. Uh...nevah! -
Each coach and each team may have differing styles and features. Banging may be varied with chippy, sticky, running, methodical , finess, set plays, transition, defensive strategies, matchups etc. Some lean to run and gun. Others go for high basketball IQ. Also it depends on which players are on the floor. What a team really needs is great recruiting, a great coaching staff, university support, fans, point guards, wings, bigs, great execution, scouting, making shots, etc. Banging or not, referees'calls or not, young adults need discipline as a team. And they need to help each other. It may just be that IU needs upper classes that know to play with effort the whole game. Just refuse to lose. I don't think that the Big Ten is at a disadvantage because of a reliance on bigs and Banging. IU just needs to put together enough of the above assets to excel. In the last 2 decades that has not happened often enough.

Congratulations to Bottom Line. Also, a tip of the ole toupee to Btown Banners and those that manage this site. It is great to have a well-moderated site to learn and chat about Indiana Hoosiers athletics. However, Bottom Line is a professional sports handicapper. That just might be considered by some to be totally unfair. Except for one thing to be discussed later.* For those of us that cannot ever say that certain other University sports teams just might beat our Hoosiers..there should be a category. And no, it's not a participation trophy. Maybe, it just might be a red and white striped box of peppermint candies. So for those contestants that suported and predicted a Hoosier win regardless of the metrics and other insider information...enjoy your candy stripes. * Rules are rules and they are clear. Sometimes one has to pick against the Hoosiers to win this Prediction League challenge. But some of us will never, ever grow up to do just that. PS I will bet a beer with some people when discussing Indiana or other team sports. But I do not bet $. Not ever. There are bigger issues that we make our choices and have to live with the consequences every day. Those choices are big enough bets for me. Well, I was pleasantly surprised with a 14 and that I beat Alaska Hoosier and Barrell Rick. Not to mention Josh..so I won't. Whew! I probably will never do better than that. Until next year when IU wins every. Single. Game. And that is what I will predict. And I just might get two scores right out of about 36. And a huge tip of the ole toupee to the team and coaches. Indiana basketball is back! PPS As an aside...I grew up within walking distance of Ellis Park in Evansville. It was interesting when reading the racing form how one could see some excellent background on each and every horse and jockey and trainer and owner and the condition of the track, etc. I can still pick horses but always insist on having the racing form to do it. One would also have to watch the horse and jockey before picking. My younger sister had a knack. She 'knew' horses. She picked 7 of 8 horses on the nose one day. My father put a $2 bet down on each race pick by her. Bought her a 10-speed bike with part of the winnings. I kid you not. -
Oh, choose me! Uh... The Canes recruited Reneau hard and are still mad about him choosing Indiana. They like to score on transition, shoot free throws and have even scoring around all the starters. They score a lot. They play decent defense. Sometimes they have trouble in the last few minutes of the game. They love to shoot threes...but do not shoot it well. They do not match up well inside against TJD and our height. Miami is inconsistent...but IU has been there, too. Depends on...well you know...execution, luck, and the whistles. If IU does not get whistled for a physical game, Shifino brings it, and our wings hold their own...it is an IU win. Could go the other way. But it won't. Indiana 77 Southeastern FL (Hairy Cons) 68 (Been vacationing and on the beaches of southeast FL for more than a week. In Key West just now. Way too many people and cars and congestion. The beaches have a lot of red seaweed coming in. And there's a shortage of material in bathing suits. I love spring and summer and fall in the Midwest. I would not live down here if you paid me...how much?) Go IU!

Retired from a decent -sized municipality. It isn't how prepared the government is. They just want the bad press to go away. Elected officials don't want their administration raked through the coals. Settle they will..bet a beer.

Larry sux as a referee. But don't know what to think about this lawsuit. Bet the city settles with a large settlement.

I wonder. For instance, most recently IU struggled defensively and JHS did not do well offensively. Our lack of guard depth (and at wings) can cause problems. Maybe not so much against Kent. That's because of IU's height on the front line. But at guard, Kent is good and it could depend on turnovers. Like I said, hope JHS has a great game. Will the referees call it tightly? This isn't the BigTen anymore. Watch those fouls! And personally, I have no respect for their coach. Crean was right...Senderhoff screwed IU and flipped on he who must not be named.
-
I speculate that their guards will try to rattle JHS. If JHS gets into foul trouble or can't make plays, then IU may suffer. JHS has to have a good game. Galloway and others beat that attempt by crisp passing and getting the ball quickly across half cout and then inside. Just be quick passers. Kent State does like to steal. Just pass down court. And be first to the loose balls.

Set the Wayback Machine to 3/23/2002, IU #5 seed beats Kent State #10 seed. I had been at the IU win over Duke at Rupp 2 days before. Then took family of 4 to witness IU beat Kent State. IU beat Oklahoma in the semi. Lost to Maryland in the final. What a run! This time, IU wins the final. It's inevitable.
