  1. For the last 2 decades the Hoosier's Men's BB Team and coaches have needed more than a little massaging. I can see that Woody could recognize that and that you're the Magic Man. I can only imagine that your massages are better than your game predictions. I hope that Twin-Barrel Rick's salary can keep him in a barrel of Preparation H and other suppositories as needed. Go ahead and dive in.
  2. 18. Best Female Singer...how can anyone pick one? I saw Diana Ross way back. Super! Grace Slick had some chops among other things. Saw her too. Props to Janice Joplin, too. Linda Ronstadt had my attention...one could say. Yeah. My wife loves Carole King. Great writer/singer, but once I heard her sing 'Natural Woman' I took her off my list. Aretha Franklin, Billie Holliday, Nina Simone, Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick & etc. Saw Dionne Warwick...must have been back in the 70's for the Little 5 weekend celebration (I think) and (was it?) Bob Hope introduced her in the Showalter Theater. I've seen Diana Ross and Grace Slick (JA)! So it is between them. Diana Ross wins in a squeaker. Who would I rather see? Diana Ross or Grace Slick (with JA) in their prime? Well, JA! Props to Martha the Mop Lady!
  3. Props for Grand Funk: Mean Mistreater; Sin's a Good Man's Brother; Bad Time; Some Kind of Wonderful; Heartbreaker; and other too numerous to count.
  4. I'm not through. Somewhere, somehow......Allman Brothers! #17...lead male singer: Robert Plant, guitarist and lead singer for Led Zepplin...way down inside, you need to agree. #4 Most relaxing album: Invitation to Openess..Les McCann...fell in love to this album. I call it improvisational hashish jazz. #7. Funniest songwriter: Shel Silverstein - Wrote children's poems like Where the Sidewalk Ends to make more $$ than writing songs. Silverstein wrote: A Boy Named Sue; On the Cover of the Rolling Stones; One's On The Way...Loretta Lynn; The Taker...Waylon Jennings; Once More With Feeling...Jerry Lee Lewis; Queen of the Silver Dollar...Emmylou Harris; Sylvia's Mother; Lester Flatt's lead song in the album..Foggy Bottom Breakdown is February Snow written by Silverstein...and others covered by Bobby Bare too numerous to count. Silverstein wrote over 300 songs including: Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout would not take the garbage out She'd scour the pots and scrub the pans Candy the yams and spice the hams And though her daddy would scream and shout She simply would not take the garbage out And so, it piled up to the ceilings Coffee grounds, potato peelings Brown bananas, rotten peas, chunks of sour cottage cheese That filled the can and covered the floor, cracked the window and blocked the door With bacon rinds and chicken bones, drippy ins of ice cream cones Prune pits, peach pits, orange peel Gluppy glumps of cold oat meal, pizza crust and withered greens And soggy beans and tangerines and crust of black burned buttered toast And gristly bits of beefy roast The garbage rolled on down the hall, it raised the roof, it broke the wall I mean, greasy napkins, cookie crumbs Globs of gooey bubble gums, cellophane from green baloney, rubbery blubbery macaroni, peanut butter, caked and dry Curdled milk and crusts of pie, moldy melons, dried-up mustard, eggshells mixed with lemon custard Cold french fries and rancid meat, yellow lumps of Cream of Wheat At last the garbage reached so high that it finally touched the sky And all the neighbors moved away And none of her friends would come to play And finally, Sarah Cynthia Stout said "OK, I'll take the garbage out!" But then, of course, it was too late The garbage reached across the state From New York to the Golden Gate And there, in the garbage she did hate Poor Sarah met an awful fate That I cannot, right now relate Because the hour is much too late But children, remember Sarah Stout And always take the garbage out
  5. 3. Angriest album (song) ever: Mississippi Goddam - Nina Simone (18) Nina Simone: Mississippi Goddam - YouTube 12. Favorite guitarist: (A very tough assignment to pick one of many.) Leo Koetke (18) Leo Kottke - Vaseline Machine Gun - YouTube 13. Favorite pianist/organist: My MIL Lucy (Johnson) Fritz, wrote the pep song for Earlham College, music teacher, organist for a church in Indy. Entertained family and friends. Could play any classic or pre-60's song you named...only stumped her once with the Navy Hymn. 16. Favorite songwriter: Another tough pick. Bob Dylan! 19. Single favorite album: Woodstock - The Original Soundtrack; Since my taste in music has evolved and is evolving...I really like the last 5-year question. 9. Favorite album of last 5 years: Kenny Wayne Sheperd (band) - Traveler. Sounds like something out of Muscle Shoals (ie...screaming organ, guitars, horns, chorus...gritty blues, southern funky Americana, if that makes any sense from a classic rock perspective...) I've got the blues; but I feel good.
  6. Game 23 not 22...typo. These sims make me wonder what really will happen in the coming season. Still too many unknowns. Even just before tipoffs of each game there are a lot of unknowns, of course. What is the reasoning that XJ shot 2/13? (And then he gets 9/9 FT...) NW Defense at the PG? Cupps 0/5? Walker 0/2? I wonder, what is someone to make of this sim season?
  7. Archie should be in there, somewhere.
  8. Got to get Galloway to shoot more from...well...everywhere! One 3-point attempt per game is not going to help much. He needs to be in double digits. Every. Stinkin'. Game! The team needs to improve free throws and 3-point shots...or else. Going to be a long season with those percentages.
  9. Yeah, and he could guard the chair without distraction.
  10. Well, some of us miss Archie... And we're glad we do!
  11. I read a report of Joey Hart from a year ago. It stated that he was 3-star prospect and good on both offense and defense. 7 minute video of Hart and Purdoo's Colvin in a game: (14) Central Florida Commit Joey Hart vs Purdue Commit Myles Colvin - YouTube
  12. A great idea! Kind of a cross between water polo and underwater hockey:
  13. Not sure if this is the Mongolian Beef that some crave.
  14. In another thread I posted: From the Athletic: " He’s a boom-or-bust player that has real defensive deficiencies right now, and I’d recommend that he only goes to up tempo, well-spaced offensive situations that allow him to get the most out of his skill level. Still, he’s worth ranking because the upside if he gets into the right environment is very real." On a Dayton fan forum, I gather this: Reports have him as being born in Phoenix AZ. His father is...apparently...very active in promoting his son. He is about 22 years old. He attended International Sports Academy as a high school senior. He is thin and needs big-time conditioning and weight training to compete with the best players. I am very curious what his GPA is. IMHO and just looking at tidbits...I wonder about Galloway's free throw percentage. If Galloway improves his scoring and free throws and keeps getting better at defense, then he may just be a lot better option than Mike from Mondovia, Arizona.
  15. In my post this morning, I linked the Dayton Daily News story. Here: Mike Sharavjamts, former Dayton Flyers guard, withdraws from NBA Draft (daytondailynews.com) But it subsequently went poof. I read the whole article online. Once yesterday and once today. But now it is protected and there is a paywall for me. In case that it goes away again...or you cannot access it... Just search online for Dayton Daily News sports. Site will display more current stuff. But the next line starts a list of linked articles for previous days. In the article, it has one video of Sharavjamts. As a 6' 8" guard/forward he made the A-10 all-rookie team. He played in 32 of 34 games and averaged 23 minutes per game, 5.6 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.6 assists pg, 39% 68% 31.5%. Scouting report: NBA Draft Scouting Report: Dayton's Mike Sharavjamts - NBA Draft Digest - Latest Draft News and Prospect Rankings (si.com) This says that he walks on water: "Sharavjamts possesses a vast passing repertoire. He does all the simple things expected of a point forward, such as running the point in transition and making the right plays on drives with effective drive-and-kick passes, but also adds an advanced level of passing which is rare for a player of his size." There is much more in the SI article on the 6' 8 3/4" young player. As an aside, he is the first Mondovian to play D1. Reports have him as being born in Phoenix AZ. His father is...apparently...very active in promoting his son. He is about 22 years old. He attended International Sports Academy as a high school senior. He is thin and needs big-time conditioning and weight training to compete with the best players. From the Athletic: " He’s a boom-or-bust player that has real defensive deficiencies right now, and I’d recommend that he only goes to uptempo, well-spaced offensive situations that allow him to get the most out of his skill level. Still, he’s worth ranking because the upside if he gets into the right environment is very real."
  16. Yep. Sharajamts withdrew from the NBA draft consideration on Wednesday. It was online and posted here Thursday. Mike Sharavjamts, former Dayton Flyers guard, withdraws from NBA Draft (daytondailynews.com) Probably, some knew Wednesday. I didn't. I'm slow... Didn't see it posted here. But I was remodeling a bathroom until late. She who must be obeyed is happy. I am happy. So, I guess that H1984 may have additional information that was also previously reported here. Guess that Sharajamts doesn't fit at IU? Is that what H1984 means?
  17. Sharajamts, 6' 8" forward/guard Frosh from Dayton has IU on his list. Just withdrew from NBA consideration.
  18. *(To the tune of 'I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas') I want a Wilson basketball for mascot. Only a Wilson Basketball will do. I don't want a buffalo, an owl or racoon. I want a Wilson basketball to bounce, I want it soon. I want a Wilson basketball for mascot. I don't think the Hoosier fans will mind, do you? Won't have to design something cartoonish... Won't look like a hick farmer or BM like Purdue... That's the easy thing to do.
  19. Enjoying the first morning of a 5-lb. bag of fresh (medium) roasted (Wednesday) and fresh ground (today) Brazil Sweet Blue coffee! Very nice caramel and chocolate notes and smooth. Purchased online Tuesday afternoon for $66.35 for just above 5 pounds with free shipping priority mail. Got here yesterday near noon. Packaged up the bunch in quart ziplocks and they are stored in airtight opaque bag from Red Bird Roasters of Bozeman MT. They do excellent email communications, fyi. Wife is happy...just over $11/lb. and good tasting coffee. I'm happy. And well caffeinated. And I would never-ever get coffee from Wendy's. I never ever go to McDonald's unless it is to hit the restrooms on a long trip. Well, that and their coffee is decent and the hot fudge sundae is ok. Maybe Market-Fresh sandwiches from Arby's while on that trip....if we can't find a decent deli or Mom & Pop cafe. If ever in Dayton...try Charlie's Imports on Troy Street northeast of downtown...paprika is sold by the 5 lb. tins from Europe. Big argument here is about Rally's. Similar argument to that of White Castle. Which would we rather skip? I say skip WC. She says skip both. We compromise and grill at home some teriyaki chicken. May catch 100 laps of the 500...later... Like I said...well caffeinated.
  20. Yeah, that's probably happening at IU too. Right?
  21. Hey, I do not give a cra9 if you diss Billy Joel. But do not say negative things about metamucil. I probably have said enough. Except I cannot believe that that interviewer tortured Ware like that. He may just reconsider his commitment.
  22. Amanda Fish also had her band there same day. I kid you not. Caught close to our limit of blues that day. Samantha is a force. Listen to some Walter Trout...one of my favorites.
  23. Great music is out there, folks. W. C. Handy Blues and BBQ Festival, Henderson KY, June 13 - 17, free... I will be there Saturday, June 17...with family. A couple of years ago, they had Walter Trout's band and Samantha Fish's band. Then, again, check the Friday schedule: Al Green and Hard Times and Tommy Castro and the Painkillers!!!: Changing the subject, catch Kenny Wayne Shepherd in Brown County, June 6. He will be in my backyard in Dayton later in his tour. Oh, if you like to hear a great jazz flautist: Bobbi Humphrey Bobbi Humphrey - City Beat Album Reviews, Songs & More | AllMusic
  24. Just ordered 5 pounds of medium roasted Brazil Sweet Blue...from Red Bird, CO. $66.35...free shipping over $50.
  25. Even when that preparatory school for Subaru line workers up in W. Laffy win a few games, they still suck. POTFB.
