  1. Really? Sitting over here in enemy land, I guess that I have missed a lot of that interaction. I have noticed some of that. LEO, eh? 'You always hurt the one you love The one you shouldn't hurt at all' Mills Bros.
  2. While it may seem to be somewhat out of place...to me it indicates that the coach is emphasizing the need to focus on the next play. Get pumped up for it. The previous play may have been awful or a player really goofed up. Learn from it. But, onward and upward. Let's go. Would it be better to demean a player or curse the hell out of them? A manager has a lot of tools to use. One I had to keep repeating to myself is 'Listen, and respond with empathy'. It does not mean to agree. I needed to remind myself to not respond immediately in a way that would stop any positive motivation on the part of others.
  3. And the defense let ISU march all the way down the field. Fumble sucked, too. Playing down to the competition or...
  4. Soccer: IU 0, SF 1 with 3 minutes left in 1st half.
  5. South Florida again got behind IU's defenders. SF 1, Indiana 0. Soccer.
  6. Last time I looked...IU vs SFU soccer is 0 0. Go IU!
  7. Game Day! The excitement! The buzz! The tradition... Well, never mind that. Football vs soccer...that is the question. IU's game plan is like that of golf. Keep your head down and keep the score low.
  8. Wonder if the B1G is looking at Guam, Puerto Rico, Diego Garcia, Kiev, Juneau, Cancun, Nui Beach, Earlham...
  9. Way back when, I wondered why IU would pull out all stops and invite basketball recruits to an Indiana football game and weekend. Watch Indiana lose to OSU or win against SW St. Vincent Junior Varsity. Oh, my. What a treat. But what better way to convince basketball recruits that at Indiana University basketball is king. (Go to Ohio State and basketball is their off season. Right? ?
  10. A reminder... It's Indiana! /s Snark aside, Indiana went into this season without a proven B1G caliber upper classman QB. The OL is really the decider. How in the heck would you recruit a splendid QB corp and keep it? Especially knowing that previously you would be likely seriously injured?
  11. Looked, just now, for anything on fan forums for the Jailbirds discussing Queen or reflecting on a recent visit. Can't even find a whisper. No fan threads. Crickets.
  12. Sing along with Dave: "...Through the Sycamores the Hoosiers will be streaming..." Hoosier Daddies 27 Firewood 0
  13. A tip of the hat to Stuhoo for his prediction. 31 - 10 I underestimated Indiana's defense. That or OSU's offence needs serious adjustments. Probably both. IU's first couple of possessions put IU in a hole. That and a few penalties on special teams. Clean those up and IU is really in a lot of games. Actually, the OL and DL looked improved. Now to offense. No offense. Do not tell me that IU is going to have the game plan to not get blown out. Maybe it is the play calling. Maybe just maybe take a look at the OC. It is easy, after the play, to see what went wrong. But holy crap. I just reflect on the fact that the Head Coach had to have reviewed and approved the game plan of the OC. Maybe the QBs need help and seasoning. Maybe the OC needed to get a really good game-time feel of the OL. Maybe the WRs were not up to the level of the hype. Maybe all of this will really help to improve IU football early in the season...and throughout. We just have to get the defense off of the field. That third quarter fade stuff is because of our offense isn't performing. For those of us that think that IU cannot afford to spend more on football coaches...seems like we are doing just that now and the Athletic Department is pretty lucrative. I was in classes in Bloomington with Jade Butcher and met John Isenbarger and others of the Rose Bowl game. I also graduated from UW-Madison and have lived in Ohio longer than Indiana. Also lived up and down the east coast. One gains perspectives by getting out of Dodge. Those of us that realize, later in life, that the universe does not center on IU-Bloomington...come to grips with lots of factors besides coaches' salaries determine the trajectory of a program. Maybe the climate, demographics, cultural factors, politics, conference bias towards you know who, leadership, fan support, and location of IU-B and the Midwest USA will all change to allow IU football to be a winning program. Of all of the things that would have to change is the political/higher education/philosophies coming out of the state capitol and the Board of Trustees. Way back when the state legislature decided to split the university system into two...that may have stuck a fork in the college football programs in the State of Indiana for a long, long time. And I sure am not a proponent of changing that in order to improve IU/PU by merging and making one football program among other ramifications. It looks from here like Indiana will beat Purdoo. If the offense improves so will the results.
  14. Hey, if we have to have one warmup game. Learn a lot from this. Anytime one plays OSU it's a toughy. Rather get them out of the way.
  15. Either light up or leave me alone.
  16. In case of a tornado in Bloomington...where do you go? Memorial Stadium. You never get a touchdown there.
  17. Where Indiana football went wrong: In 1968, the Hoosiers earned a trip to the 54th annual Rose Bowl game and squared off against the USC Trojans. The heavily favored Trojans were led by running back O.J. Simpson and a stout defense that held IU to just three points as USC prevailed 14-3.
  18. Time to tend to the backyard chores. That or break open the bourbon. Flips coin...
  19. Surprise OSU. Go up the middle with the option.
  20. Defender wasn't even looking at the ball.
  21. Rip em up; tear em up... Give em hell, Hoosiers!
  22. First few possessions really were not executed or coached well.
