Lots of questions raise their ugly heads about tonight. Will the students be back in strength...and the rest of the crowd? Is Illinois guard Jak going to play? Will he be a little rusty? Can the crowd impact him at his first visit to SSAH? Is Reneau going to play? Will this be a high scoring game (favoring Illinois) or a slow game with IU struggling in their half-court offense? Can IU's defense show up tonight? Will IU defend home court? Can our 3-point shooting continue to improve? Will Ballo defend a small Illinois player and chase him around the perimeter leaving the inside vulnerable? Can IU and Miles Rice be disciplined and not dribble around on offense, or will they pass a lot and not throw the ball away? Will Coach Woody send in plays that work? Is there a real game plan that can put IU in position to win? Will IU win and be on the road to the tourney? Or will Coach Woody throw one or two players under the bus. Then say that it is on him. They need to work harder to get over the...wait for it... I remember the first game that our family, years ago, returned to AH. At the half, I finished explaining to my 5-year old youngest daughter about defense and teamwork... Asked if she had any questions. She said: "If that man over there asks if we want some popcorn...can you say yes?" Maybe, she had her priorities correct. Popcorn anyone?

Before the beginning of the just completed IU FB season, on this site we had predictions of how many games IU would win with the new coach and team. I stretched, knowing that Coach Cig was a definite winner...to 8 wins...we got 11 amazing wins! Has anyone revisited? And crowned the goofball, I mean visionary, that predicted more?

I see a little of that. But, I do not perceive Coach Woody as even an average X's and O's coach. His game plans are flawed. Offensive plays are at times nonexistent. He does not have any idea how to attack a zone. Putting lineups in that are exceedingly flawed drives all of us nuts. Blockouts and crowding 2 bigs inside prove he has no idea. Not disciplining players that do not do their roles is also proof that he is not an X's and O's coach. One could have the position that to discipline or not is not X's and O's but how can a coach coach without discipline and requiring adherence to helping team and not be just about ME? And I also believe that Coach Woody does not want to resign. But if he is given a choice by the AD between being fired or resigning...he will negotiate a lump sum buyout and they will sign that...he would then resign. But that won't happen until the end of IU's season. Not sure about that though. I just think that he is gone soon.

My prediction: Woody will resign on Sunday, March 16, 2025. Just after the Big Ten Tournament Championship game and after the NCAAT seeding is announced. Probably before 8 PM ET. If that does not happen then...just turn out the lights of SSAH. We will see if this administration is serious about basketball in the next two months.
