I was trying to rationalize why Dolson is not doing what you say now. Actually, I agree with you. So, obviously...Dolson has his reasons for not doing just that. Unless, hopefully, they are renegotiating the buyout as we are sitting here. Why is Woody still HC?

What happens if the assistant does well with the team? Does that make the AD look bad? Do you have to hire the assistant? What fans want has very little to do with where we are with a new HC search...and the current coach's status. Unless you have lots of cash to help. As a fan...I say negotiate a buyout now. The difference is that Coach Cignetti is a winner...year after year after year after year. He is no flash in the pan. And the culture is changed. Coaches, players, administration, supporters, fans, the university, the media, potential recruits see it and know it. He isn't about making nice. He is a winner.

Do you have a thing about pimps and marijuana? Or sacks of cash? Or impermissible phone calls? Or going to class? Or rules? We don't need no stinkin' rules! Today it is all about money, and/or power, and/or sex, and/or entertainment and diversion from the reality that we are free to choose. As a human being...that is a tough responsibility that few can handle well. But, hey...I got sidetracked. Sorry.

Maybe there is another point of view. It would not have been my point of view. Certainly after 3 years it was abundantly clear that Woody didn't know how to win at this level. The other perspective would be to spend the NIL at the end of the last season. Get the best one can get out of the portal. And see if Woody sinks or swims with his hired players...his way. They did that. He sunk. Now let him go with a negotiated buyout. My point of view was it was clear, after one season, that Coach Woody did not get the best out of a team. But, he had TJD and others. Coach Woody is going to gut the program for the next sap, I mean person, that agrees to come in as HC at this deathtrap for HCs. (For mega millions of $$$$.) For those of us that still yearn for great basketball at IU...we are about to see whether IU actually agrees with us. To throw IU basketball forever under the bus or build something spectacular and hang another banner in AH if it is still standing.
