I really do not have a clue what is going down during this period. Closing the deal is big for both sides. But in negotiating a contract, the advantage goes to the person that gets the offer. For instance, if one is offered...the offer means that you are The Chosen One. You. Now, the power if you will, goes to the recipient of the offer. Negotiation can begin knowing I Am The Chosen One. Evidently, a very unique and precious commodity. I have always paused after an offer. If The Man wants two weeks, and that is what it takes to close The Deal, then two weeks it is. You want another week? Why? These guys and gals are talking turkey. No need to hurry it. The new era of Indiana basketball isn't baked in a day.

Actually, I think that just as important as the other variables are...it is imperative that the coach be given the green light to rid the roster of any and all players deemed to not buy in to the new coach's schemes. I'm still bothered with the thought that IU administration handcuffed Archie's roster selection process. I probably am wrong, but I really want any new coach to succeed and be thoroughly enabled by the administration.

What's the hurry? Just because fans want an answer. Immediate gratification R us. Maybe Brad has to get back from his meeting with the Lealtor checking out houses on Lake Monroe. Maybe Brad's better half is seeking to become the representative of all of the basketball players on the Pacers as well as the Celtics. It's game day @ Indiana basketball! Get excited! Wow! Today we get to see if IU can continue to turn this season around. Start really defending at home and maybe, just maybe, we get to see Coach Woodson post season! And we get to see...wait... Oh. Well, So the over/under is 140. Does that mean that both teams defend well or both teams do not shoot well? No fast breaks? Really? Coach Woodson already has a pin stuck in him. Putting that aside. I know family will be watching and cheering on the team. Will you? Hope Miles Rice keeps his head and gets across the timeline easily and quickly. Hope he distributes well. Will IU deploy our secret weapon? Will Woody clog the lane with bigs and stop our players from getting to the rim? Not sure if I understood the question. But, speculating here, I doubt that the players are unable to learn from a good bunch of coaches. They all have strengths and weaknesses. Use that. Don't toss them under the bus because of a lack of direction...and mentoring. At times, they are like the Lord of the Flies. Other times...they can beat Captain Hook. They needed help and didn't get it.

Some are wondering why this board has so many posts about Brad Stevens and not others. Well, before this last few days, there was a lot of discussion about others. Those discussions are generally still appropriate and valid. What is interesting is that many of those other prospective hires are still coaching and should be at this spot in the season. Hopefully, many of them will be coaching post season too. That puts any real discussion with them or announcement about them out into the future, possibly by 6 weeks. That is not true about Brad Stevens. Even if there is only a 2% chance of his coming to IU. He is the biggest target available today. Who should we be talking about that is available? Tom Crean? Dickie V.? Dan D (throws up)? So listen and respond with empathy. This site is for entertainment (sports) and this discussion is a way to keep connected. If you don't like what we are discussing, then there are ways to divert attention. Bring something sparkly to the site and let us chase that rabbit down some hole somewhere else. I am also tired of discussing Brad Stevens. Put the hook in him or cut the line already. But I will linger here and add my snark and stupidity along with a lot of others because what are we supposed to do? Cheer the team into winning the NCAAT?
