  1. We have two home games in a week. One v Northwestern who is going to need that win. And Nebraska who has already kicked our butt and took IL to OT. If we lose those two, does the chit hit the fan?
  2. And that makes more sense with the Matta/Fife idea. Like Dolson knew it was risky, so he brought in some college lifers to help and Woody blew them off. And here we are.
  3. You can if the guy comes in eyes wide open and ready to get to work. It's freaking basketball. Lets not overcomplicate it. Put round ball in round hoop. All great coaches have one thing in common -- the ability to adapt. They all have big egos, but the great one's egos are fueled by winning and they'll adapt to get the win. Woody could have been successful if he was willing to adapt. Instead he froze out the experienced college coaches/advisors and brought in some sleeply NBA guys. It was his way or the highway. Well, here we are and as far as I'm concerned he can hit the highway. I'm sick and fkg tired of losing to ________ -- fill in the blank: Purdue, Wisconsin, ILL, Rutgers, and now Penn State.
  4. We know of one who apparently dodged a bullet. :)
  5. Most a good, well thought out post. But how do you call one signee for the 2024 class after 3 years on the job, "recruiting progress."
  6. His ego won't let him. It's HIS defense. THIS is how it is run. Doesn't matter if we get a terrible mismatch and it costs us the game. I'M RIGHT, everyone else is wrong.
  7. Way to crush my dreams. Thanks. :)
  8. But according to many posters on here, it's patently untrue. :)
  9. Since you're not a big time money booster, here is the BOT response: "Ok, Karen." :)
  10. Why would he make a change. From all accounts he doesn’t listen to them. Unlikely he’s going to bring in a college guy who knows what he’s doing and start taking his input.
  11. Very true. You’re basically GM, Personal Director and Head Coach. It a 24/7/365 day job. If you’re not in practice or a game, you’re evaluating recruits or on the road. But Woodson knew better and froze out guys there to help him with this. Well here we are.
  12. I would agree. He's not going to get "fired" per se and lead out of the building. He'll retire to "spend more time with his family." The point though is not is the time to "encourage" that retirement. If Quinn is the gatekeeper he needs to step up for the good of the program.
  13. Sorry, you don't want to win now at the expense of sacrificing the long term. You would prefer to do both, and the portal gives you that opportunity. And it is never wrong to do it the right way. Lying to players, and playing BS games, doesn't build you a program. That's why I am adamant about his epic failure to stack up a few HS kids this year -- that's how you build long-term success, so you don't need to BS your way in the portal.
  14. I just hope the Trio of Dolson, Witten and Buckner learned something from the Cig hire. Cig has a process and talks about following that process which leads to success. We need the same from a basketball coach.
  15. At this point I think it's worth taking a flyer on. He could fail miserably like the others. Or he could be here for decades given his age.
  16. First, he has to secure the current guys. Don't do that, then no reason to keep you. Bye bye. IMO, he's going to have a difficult time with number one -- keeping the key guys. Players aren't stupid. If they don't see a future for the program, they'll bolt. And you're right the second two criteria are time based. He'll have all summer to get the portal players in -- but we all know most of that happens before the school year lets out. So sure, he could just give lip service and fk around, but if he does, he's gone -- bye bye -- short of winning the BIG 10 or Final 4 run or something.
  17. Dolson, Buckner, Whiten or whomever should make it crystal clear that a failure to meet any one of those goals means termination, no ifs, ands or buts.
  18. Could be right. I guess I just wouldn't want that from a good coach. Each year everything is open -- Earn your minutes. It's the only way to keep it "fair."
  19. The only way Woodson should even be considered to be coming back is if he: a) locks down Maliek, MM, McNeeley, and possibly Queen. b) Has a real plan to hit the portal and fill in the missing roster needs, especially at guard. c) Has a real plan to stack up some 2025 recruits to build a base from. If any one of those are questionable, he should be let go. Period.
  20. In the era of NIL and free agency, what the hell is tying a hand behind their back?
  21. Do we know he did that? Or did he say "everyone has to earn their minutes" even the incoming transferee? How do we know that the transferees were not guaranteed minutes so they went with some coach who lied to them? That Timberlake at Kansas fits the bill. Went from 30+ min at Towson to barely seeing the floor (11 min) at Kansas. Why would he do that?
  22. Oh come on. One player? At Penn State. Please. Could get five guys from the Hyper to give them a game. We were up by 11. Got blown out. This was coaching, plain and simple. Like call a fkg time out when the other team is on a run.
  23. Yep. Now is the time to make the change and literally start fresh.
