IUBB vs Penn State - 12/29/20 @ 8:30 on BTN

I'm talking regulation. I think we missed at least three (maybe four) quick wide open 3s coming down the stretch. -

That's it. The only reason this was close was several missed, wide open, threes in the final minutes. But that has been the story for a while. -
That's pretty high expectations. Even the best programs aren't national championship competitive every year. But as I have said before, the model is easy: 1) control the Big 10 -- conference championships and nothing worse the 4th. That equals a tourney bid every year. 2) Win the first weekend of the tourney. That get's you to the sweet 16. 3) Break thru to the 8, 4 and Championship game. This is a numbers game. The more you are in the sweet 16, the more chances you have to break thru. Now just go get the Coaches and Players who can do it.

You're missing the big picture. You claim we would be upset with Underwood if he lost a game or two and the ranking slipped from 5 to 18. Sure we would be on here bitching a moaning about performance. But we know the Big is a meat grinder. And we'd still be ranked 18 with a future. In the real world, some folks see some major deficiences with the program at this point. That's not just a poor performance or two. They are structural flaws.

I think that's what you're missing. We all understand the Big 10 is meat grinder and on any given night you can lay a turd and get beat. But the expectation as you look at the schedule is that "this is a win" vs. each oponent. Right now, are their any "wins" on IU's Big schedule? If Underwood was at IU, recruited competitive players, and beat NW, IL, and Purdon't, we'd be happy. :)

I have yet to see any evidence that there is any semblence of an offensive system. Do you have anything to indicate it's based on the Phoenix fast break? A quote somewhere? Not sure why a defensive coach would adopt a fast break offense. Those guys usaully want to run clock and limit the other team's posessions. Of couse, it would be totally Archie to do it.

IU is a good job. While our history is quite old at this point, we do have it. We don't have to create it. All we do is have to stoke it. All it will take is for the right coach to start winning consistently to bring it back. Lots of us old guy who will tell you how good it was "back when I was kid." Some think Jerseys and cheerleaders matter. Some knock the facilities. That's all noise. The thing that matters, that attracts the players -- Winning. Winning makes everything easier. But winning is hard. You need a coach that can actually coach -- put the players in posititions to succeed. Build a winning program and the players will come. IU gives a coach everything he needs to win (save for bags of cash). Coaches have to get it done.

Dude, you're smoking something. U of I has the right trajectory, right now. We do not. Hell, it even looks like NW going to surprise people this year. IU on the other hand is underwhelming. Archie hasn't gotten it done, and doesn't appear to have a plan to get it done. He has failed miserably to adapt to the big tyne.

What evidence do you have that we have a system? :) -
The difference is, and what MSB doesn't realize, is that Knight wanted to win more than anyone -- players, admin, students, etc. And he not only the will to win, but more importantly the will to prepare to win. Knight wasn't affraid to use the bench, doghouse and even worse to motivate the players. Maybe someone should play him the "Greg Graham" tape.

I like Chris too. He's handcuffed at NW and they just spanked MSU and us. The dude has forgotten more basketball than Archie knows. He grew up with some of the best players/coaches ever to play basketball -- early MJ and Tex Winter. Son of a coach and played/coached under K. It's a pretty good resume. Although, my hunch is he'll bail for the Duke job.
