  1. Archie's problem is Archie. He is completely stuck in his defensive "pack line" mindset which he had success with at the mid major level. He has completely failed to adapt to the reality of the level he is at now. He won't change. And for that reason, he should be fired. Adapt or die, gentlemen. The formula for success is simple: 1) dominate in state recruiting -- be in the mix for the top players from the state. These are the kids in your backyard that you can watch grow up as they move thru high school. Once the best in state players have IU in their sights, you can focus on the out of state players who can make a difference. 2) Be in contention for a Big 10 championship each year. A top 5 big ten team will always make the tourney. 3) Win the first weekend of the tourney -- get to the sweet 16 repeatedly. It's then a numbers game. If your in the second weekend every year, you'll eventually break thru to the 8 and the 4. If you only make the tourney every few years, too many things need to go right for you to get to the finals. The thing is the devil is obviously in the details. But those details will change over time. Thus, the coach needs to adapt. Otherwise, you have what we have. Almost 2 decades of hit or miss.
  2. Hell I’ll take the guy who just beat our sorry *****. :)
  3. A coach who adapts to the talent he has and goes out and finds the talent he needs. Archie is to one dimensional with his pack line defense which can’t even stop Northwestern for crying out loud.
  4. Hell, Galloway actually looks like he knows what he's doing out there. Maybe he could be the coach. :)
  5. At least Tray and Lander can make up for their mistakes. Best players should play, and they are the best players right now.
  6. Archie is too one dimensional, which works at the mid-major levels. Dolson need to tell him to get his offense into shape or ship the hell out. Got to play both sides of the ball.
  7. I think he's looked lost the last few time I saw him out there.
  8. What I am seeing that is positive is some of these younger guys stepping up and outplaying the older ones. I am seeing less and less PT for some of our upperclassmen if this continues.
  9. Coaches at this level refine shooting, don't necessarily teach it. No different than golfers with their teachers or hitting coaches, QB coaches -- all refining player's mechanics, maybe seeing something the player isn't seeing. Definitely time for a shooting guru to arrive.
  10. Maybe we could get the magic shooting jerseys. Yeah, that's the ticket.
  11. I never confuse effort with accomplishment. Doing more of the same expecting different results is insanity. Sometime you actually have to try something different.
  12. Here's the thing. When you hire these mid major guys, or any young coach for that matter, they have to be willing to grow and adapt to the Big Time. That means the things that brought you success previously may not bring you success in the future. You can survive in the mid majors with playing only one side of the ball. You have to play both sides in the Big Time. The problem with Archie is I don't see him growing or adapting (but I'll let this season play out). Heck, even Shaka Smart grew hair. :)
  13. All I am going to say is IU needs to boycott the Maui Invitational until Bill Walton is gone, gone, gone. 3 days of listening to is BS makes me want to bash my head with a hammer.
  14. Just as an aside for public safety purposes, your employer has it wrong. The current CDC standard is 15 minutes of exposure over a 24 hour period. As for the spacing on the sidelines, I think it's just "for show." Behind the scenes these kids are closer together in the locker room, traveling, etc.
  15. She's just embarrassed of IU football kicking Michigan and MSU's a$$. :)
  16. Doesn't that potentially risk shutting the whole conference down if one infected dude walks into that bubble?
  17. If your going out, may as well go out big.
  18. Note, I did ask it as a question because their site wasn't really clear.
  19. If I am reading their site right, it looks like they started with 310 cases from people who came back to school?
  20. If those interviews are less than 15 min. they wouldn't even fall under the CDC definition of "close contact" for contact tracing.
  21. It's just virtue signaling. The whole point of the bubble is to keep infections out. People inside that bubble have nothing to transfer. If there was truly a risk, then they should wear masks during the games. And I don't take my examples of good public behavior from professional athletes.
  22. Probably need a longer time period to reference. But to me here is a symptom of the problem. Years ago, when HD tv came out I caught the Little 500 on tv -- I think it was Cuban's channel at the time. Fast forward to today. I can watch a freaking hot dog eating contest on ESPN, can watch 12 year olds play baseball in August, but can't find the Little 5 anywhere (ok, it steams online). How much money have they left on the table for the student foundation? What kind of national publicity did they give up? It could have been huge. Duplicate that for basketball and these days, football. Someone has to have a GE mentality -- we want to be the best at everything we do. Academics, athletics, etc. If you're not first, your last.
  23. Thank God. Can't happen soon enough.
  24. Putin to the rescue. Russia announces vaccine. Shoot em up and play ball? https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/11/europe/russia-coronavirus-vaccine-putin-intl/index.html
