Dickie V and Bilas have to stop the talk about making the college game more like the NBA.

My take away from last nights game, is that this team is a team in every sense of the word. And the beauty is that they are not going to be dependent on one man (like a Frank Mason) to win games. They are going to take advantage of what the defense is giving them and if that mean JBJ leading the way, or OG or TB or RoJo or CuJo or JW or inside game or outside game...whatever, that is fine with them. Clearly they have some thing to work on, but it was game 1, so I am not too concerned yet. I am sure Crean has a plan in plcae to work on those items. Great win. Look forward to see how this team evolves. Oh yeah...and the refs have some work to do as well. Great game, but horribly refed. -
or a few extra phone calls. Either way...stickers and phone calls really hurt the student athletes compared to those other minor offenses.

Official 2016-17 IUBB Preseason Thread
Scooter D replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Three weeks from today, the season officially begins...starting to get excited! -
My guess...2 years probation, they will lose 1 scholly for 2 years and Roy will get a 3 game suspension. The NCAA cannot afford to have one of its money makers on the side lines.
-
Unless the NCAA comes down hard on UNC and make them the poster child, the "cheating" will become rampant.
-
Shocking that it will be after the Final 4.
-
I have no doubt, but I am not sure that it is much crazier than the idea of paying players like they were employees. Just throwing ideas out there...never said that it was realistic. It would only work if the one-and-done rule was eliminated, which I am all for. so that kids had the option. Besides, I think that the baseball rule is much better and would be more effective for both the NBA and the college game.
-
Something else that I thought of, is that scholarships need to be for 4 years and if a player leaves early, then the coach can't use that scholly until the 4 years are up. Would make coaches really consider who they recruit and I think it would help to separate those who are not interested in getting an education and working on developing their game from those that might be NBA ready. I suppose you could make the exception if they graduate in 3 years, but then I am sure the UNC's and UK's of the world would find a way to develop a basketball specific program so that their players could get a degree in one year.

They'll be in a battle with my Phillies for worst team in baseball. Lol Not sure if you saw the ESPN power rankings, but the Phillies and Braves are ranked 30th and 29th, respectively. Should be a spectacular race to the bottom.

I would rather them not win it and then all of the rest, if possible.

IU Basketball: Who is leaving? Who is staying?
Scooter D replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think that if we get the top 4 in the list back, in addition to the others returning and incoming freshman, the Hoosiers are going to be a menace in the Big 10. Is going to be weird without Yogi running point. -
Were we recruiting this kid? Looks like a very good talent to me.
-
Just need to do away with the one-and-done rule and make it more like the baseball rule and I think that some of the suspicious activity will be curbed.
-
Makes me sick.

Maybe I missed the story, but what's the story here?

A Final Analysis on the 2015-16 Hoosiers
Scooter D replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Totally agree Hutch. Upon reflection...after where this team started, this season has got to be one of the most rewarding as a fan. The turn around from November/Early December was really remarkable. They came together as a team with kids that the IU fan base could rally behind. I believe that it may be a season like this may be able to turn the tide with higher profile recruits and get IU back to really competing on the national stage. Crean showed that he really cares for his players and the players for him...and both for the university. This season really highlighted player development and at the end of the day, I would much rather root for kids that do it the right way and are not bought and paid for as hired guns who do not care about the university and its fans. I look forward to next season and the promise that it brings. Go Hoosiers! -

i am now pulling for a Villanova-UVA championship game Does not have big name appeal, but would be a great game at both ends.
-
Not sure that we need to fire Crean, but clearly we need to start cheating...see UNC and Syracuse as examples.
