  1. Well I guess Allen gets one more year and then Glass gets to hire another IU assistant or a MAC coach.
  2. I think when an organization has gone off the rails you start by axing the top guy.
  3. The problem with the NCAA is Mark Emmert.
  4. One thing I have learned after watching IU football for over 50 years is to be realistic. This has been another typical season. I didn't expect much, especially on defense considering the players they had returning. I really don't see another win this year. I think Coach Allen has to at the very minimum get to a bowl next year. He really needs to win 7 games to show progress. He will have a team made up mostly of his recruits and it will be time to show he can get the job done. If not he will be looking pretty vulnerable.
  5. I think one thing to always remember is that Mark Emmert leads the NCAA. He has proven time and again that he is ineffectual. He always avoids offending the big names in basketball and football. He looked the other way when UNC had the most massive academic cheating scandal in history. He will try to finesse the current cheating scandal with some minor token punishment and then claim victory.
  6. Allen has really been out coached.
  7. Ramsey has been very effective in the short passing game. Debord just can't stand success.
  8. How about that awesome IU defense?
  9. Holy crap. Cmon Allen, use your brain.
  10. Allen sure is being stubborn about running the ball. Common sense says take what they give you. The O line isn't opening holes so throw it Allen.
  11. I could not believe the didn't let the play clock run down on each down late in the game while they were still ahead. Colorado would have been under a lot more pressure from the clock if Frost had worked the clock down. SMH!
  12. I would love to see a sell out for Ball State.
  13. I think Urban was negligent in following up with Zach Smith. He needed to act way before he did. He has to live with that. He should have fired him when he first learned of the domestic violence. I know in the beginning it was all alleged, but he should have seen the pattern over time. I would like to compare this to Nick Saban. Two years ago UGA dismissed a 5 star player who was convicted of violently beating his girlfriend. Saban quickly offered the player a scholarship to UA saying he deserved a second chance. Not long after the player enrolled at Alabama he violently assaulted his new girlfriend. There was very little fallout over that situation. Was Saban treated differently than Myer?
  14. Here is a link to an article by a Columbus reporter named Brett McMurphy. It clearly lays out the chronology of several years of the Smith marriage and Zach's relationship to Urban. https://www.facebook.com/TheBrettMcMurphy/posts/2042037522486968?__tn__=K-R
  15. He fired him 3 days later. Isn't that setting a good example? There are two sides to this story. It was a marriage going bad. It sounds like both husband and wife behaved badly. It happens.
  16. IU operates on an old standard that says any Indiana high school graduate should be able to attend. As long as that is the case it can never be considered an elite academic school. The Board of Trustees is more concerned with the number of students than they are with the quality of students. The more students they can enroll in Bloomington, the larger the budget and the more money they control. There should be a gradual tightening of admission standards. There are several other state universities that those not accepted could attend. It will take a change of attitude among those in charge to get IU to elite status.
  17. I believe Lynch and Davis both happened under his authority. I don't know if the other things you mention were over his head or not. I have never seen anything that would definitively prove that.
  18. I would also like to add that you can't overestimate the damage Clarence Doninger did in his ten years (1991-2001)as AD.
  19. What about hiring the MSU interim coach Gary Henderson?
  20. Mike Davis has taken the head coaching job at Detroit Mercy. He has been at Texas Southern.
  21. The argument for paying players is that universities make millions off of them from TV and ticket sales. While that is true, nearly all colleges operate at a loss and require student fees and donations to balance the budget. Athletes are in a sense getting paid already. The average tuition, fees, and boarding at an average state college are in the 30 to 50 thousand dollar range and well over 50 thousand at private schools. The average athlete puts in less time over the school year in athletics than a kid working a part-time job 15 to 20 hours per week. So I think athletes have a pretty nice deal already. They get to do what they love doing and get paid really well for it. We just need to tweak the system a bit and also harshly punish the cheaters like UNC and Louisville for example.
  22. Let's say that Coach Tom takes IU to the next level and begins winning 8 or 9 or more games yearly and the stadium begins selling out all 53,000 seats every game, would that lead to expansion adding more capacity? If they do that would they expand the east stands upward and wrap around the end zones? Also when I 69 finally reaches Indy by say 2022 that would make it easier for more fans to get to Btown to attend games.
