  1. Anybody a realtor, assessor, otherwise have access to Tapestry, the property records website?
  2. I’m not his biggest fan but as I’ve said all over btown banners, every coach at IU has had dudes, and NIL makes that less of a concern to me. Not to say that you just hire the best X&O guy, but that roster building, managing egos, philosophy, adaptability, etc. are more important, I think.
  3. In addition, even if he REALLY DOESN’T WANT TO LEAVE, even rumored interest is helpful in getting more $ to stay. This is true in most jobs! Use the leverage.
  4. some folks think 1. the on-court product is frustrating, 2. The coach is the problem, 3. Only a proven coach can fix us, but 4. IU won’t hire a proven coach. If that’s the case I don’t know why they remain a fan let alone spend any time being grumpy on a message board.
  5. Trilly himself said this?
  6. Lord help me but I’m in on DeVries and Will Wade
  7. Yep, and I’m sure Goodman heard what he tweeted Sunday, that Otz is out. There’s an implicit “for now” there, not just with Otz, but with any of these guys. We’re not privy to what might change that for Otz, or Drew, etc.
  8. One thing to keep in mind here is that no one is truly out until the search is actually over. There are extreme cases — a guy who gets a huge buyout in a contract extension is probably out, for example — but I’m thinking of Otz specifically here and it applies to others too.
  9. I think Dolson is smarter than that — Brownell is notoriously on and off the hot seat at Clemson all the time. McCollum makes lots of sense to me for all the reasons we’ve discussed as nauseum.
  10. Allegedly some athletics staff, Hoosiers Connect folks asked not to travel next week (spring break) in anticipation of need to work on the hire or in HC’s case, process donations
  11. Very strange, seems like a relatively straightforward sort of rumor to chase down all things considered
  12. Yeah and would DeVries want that? I know the Iowa connections but in 2025, with public NIL issues, is Iowa a better spot than WVU, even if family is nearby?
  13. Oh I hadn’t considered that this really IS a cycle where Collins makes some sense with some of the biggest openings. I don’t really see it with UVA but either Nova or IU make some sense for him IMO
  14. Salute, thanks. I like to listen but can’t tonight
  15. I actually think we should give a fair second chance to anyone the new staff is worth keeping
  16. I tend to think Miles is a pretty good coach and might’ve been pretty interesting in a better job and/or with NIL.
  17. Yeah nobody’s perfect at picking the next such guy but I can’t stand when mid- or low-major coaches all get batched in the same bin. I promise, you’re allowed to form a nuanced opinion based on the evidence for each one!
  18. Some of the serious NBA draftniks love Stirtz, too, fwiw. I think he could play in the B1G
  19. I’m kinda the inverse, was/am very bullish on May*, have been intrigued by McCollum but came around slowly. I think there are obvious McC strengths, and I think my concerns or questions fit well with having him at IU in an era when you can openly, legally spend to recruit. *May’s turnaround at UM this year is impressive even with the fade, but I think it’s possible I’m not as high on him as I was.
  20. If he’s still involved (and I believe he is) then the timing of the first reporting on 2/14 seems intentional; i.e. Goodman heard rumblings and asked. Got a careful non-denial quote that seems to have had the desired effect. The more interesting thing to me is that Goodman is the only one who’s gotten anything on the record. I know why — BS doesn’t have press obligations in his role like he did in ‘21 as a coach — but all that’s public saying he’s out hinges on the Goodman 2/14 reporting, including Goodman’s own “(obviously)” yesterday.
  21. Yeah I am coming around on McCollum in the abstract but in addition to the other ways May’s different, Drake has been good recently AND pretty darn good historically for a program of its type. FAU basically had no history whatsoever in basketball before May.
  22. Thanks; if he’s the guy I’ll probably track those down. I think there’s probably a balance there, but plenty of F4 teams have scored in transition even deep into the tournament. So I guess I can see practicing it rarely, but u thought even watching today that Drake left some transition opportunities on the table
  23. I think he’ll succeed Fran at Iowa and I’m really interested to watch. Obviously a good coach; Iowa is a tough job and maybe it’s time for Fran to wrap up. One thing I’m curious to learn more about: one of McC’s fans around here said he likes to play slow because tournament hoops are slower. I think it’s valuable to have a good half court offense, of course, but if that’s really McC’s opinion it seems to me he has the logic backwards — transition O is still important.
  24. Not a huge deal but when the game was in hand and OSU was inbounding with less than a second, I was hoping Woody would take the seniors out one at a time for an ovation, and it also gives the folks at the end of the bench — walkons or Dallas James or whomever — a chance to get in the box score one last time.
