  1. Yep, you were right and I was thinking about that yesterday. He absolutely deserved a chance when you were beating the drum — you were convinced he could play, I (and others) at least thought he ought to get a chance to succeed or fail because he was clearly no worse than the alternatives. You have every right to victory lap. Galloway and Leal both will probably be somewhat underrated, I think, for different reasons. Galloway was often asked to do more than was ideal for him, and Leal didn’t get a fair shot until so late. It would be great to watch them go out on a high note.
  2. It’s not, though I would rule it out less than I might’ve earlier. Thamel has been the mouthpiece for the search and the criteria right away said high major experience. Obviously McCollum could impress and change Dolson’s mind, but my guess isn’t this.
  3. Feel like I have a strong theory of the case but would get annihilated if I posted it on the open board lol
  4. There’s a thread for this etc. but it didn’t happen in ‘21 BEFORE the Texas incident as has been repeatedly pointed out, and it’s probably technically correct that he’s not a 0% chance in the way it’s also technically correct that I’m not a 0% chance. But if we’re rounding down for chances below 0.5%? Then both of us are 0%.
  5. I don’t disagree but this is at best journalistically sloppy or cowardly: if he can report Drew and Otz aren’t candidates, he should man up and do so. I would like to imagine he’s smart enough to understand that, but then again I feel confident he’s smart enough to know “I’m not a candidate” is a, hmm, interesting non-denial quote.* At worst it shows contempt for his audience, and I wouldn’t put that past him either. So he may be right, but he’s framed all his “reporting” on the search in such a way that he can make a surprised face if what he’s stood on turns out wrong. *(I’m sure they spoke more on background, and thus his insistence on framing it that way, but again I’ll say that not pushing for a stronger denial on the record AND THEN framing the quote he did get as a denial is obsequious.) (I also feel the need to say I’m not really “anti-media” but what Goodman has done both times he’s surfaced about the search in a big way gives journos a bad name.)
  6. I wish I had Steratore’s job, slow mo replay obviously shows Mobley closed-fist punching Leal and Steratore just shrugs
  7. So many pieces all used for the same failing idea every night. Rough
  8. Survived the first half, as @Stuhoo said, let’s raise the energy level and take the game.
  9. They probably still should; the issue for IU will be that the MVC autobid would be a bid thief in such a case
  10. It’s going to be so refreshing to have a team next year with a staff that’s interested in questions like “what is a good shot?”
  11. I will say we were broadly correct this year that there was talent. I was a preseason Tucker skeptic and remain one though the athletic tools are there. The issue this year isn’t necessarily talent, which I guess is an improvement from last year.
  12. By all public appearances he’s a smart young man who’s a good representative of IU. Any minute he plays outside garbage time this year is malpractice
  13. Certainly think he’d be an excellent option as an assistant if he’s interested.
  14. We’ve talked about Collins a bit, but I would like to add we should bring his defensive assistant, Lowery, if it’s him.
  15. Genuinely appreciate you sharing. Not making fun, but I’m gonna be saying or thinking “goo Hoosiers” a lot, a whole lot
  16. I’m still of the mindset that unless someone just has the story and runs with it, burn the boats and access, we won’t know until the team is eliminated. But Chris knows more than me.
  17. Wasn’t checking for him at the scorers’ tables on the broadcast. Was he not along for the trip?
  18. Not only would some donors and fans be out on Beard, it would absolutely be a turnoff to some HS & AAU coaches, players, and their families.
  19. Not my area of expertise but UNLV has been a sneaky hard job for awhile now according to folks who’d know more than us, too.
  20. If you think of hires as parallels of past ones, we’ve made the various Stevens comparisons: Cal to UK, Pitino to UL. I think CrimsonCast made the best comparison I can think of for Otz: it’s roughly Self to Kansas. Established coach who’s done well at a good program moving to a blue blood.
  21. I do think these are probably my two ideal outcomes and I can definitely imagine a situation in which Otz is as good or better (or stays longer!) than BS. [psst: add Drew and my best guess is it’s one of the three (*ducks for cover*)]
  22. I’ve gotten the others, this is too deep for me
