Is Thomas Bryant a one and done?
Walking Boot of Doom replied to jdailey1981's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I doubt it, but I bet he'll test the waters with the new NCAA eligibility change. And he should. It'll just suck for a couple months for Crean trying to plan for next year. -
Pretty sure I did. Probably had some qualifiers regarding JBJ improving his defense, Troy maturing, and TB playing like we hoped, but I think I expected us to be FF contenders. Chance is still there if we keep up the defensive improvement.
-
Any decision on whether JBJ starts or not will not occur until net season based on the 6-9 month recovery time his dad mentioned. So what is wrong with Crean telling the kid that his spot is there for him when he gets back, just focus on recovering and getting better? We were actually seeing Crean benching Troy and JBJ for poor play before JBJ was injured.

Manager added to roster
Walking Boot of Doom replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yup, nothing like calling up the manager to turn around our improving team. [emoji52] -
He just dislocated a finger. Breaking his hand will not help his shooting.
-
You want him to tel JBJ, "hey, sorry about your injury. Stay focused and optimistic. But when you get back, you'll be riding the bench till you earn your spot back." That'll go well.
-
Biggest complaint about him is inconsistency. He's actually a solid coach, but unfortunately only for stretches of time during a season. Every year he makes some adjustment that we see successfully play out over the course of some number of games. Wish it lasted all season.

Wilson agrees to 6-year contract
Walking Boot of Doom replied to ThompsonHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
We're tied in for two more than we had agreed to before he took us to a bowl game. I really don't think people are looking at this subjectively. What was the better play?! Let him shrivel out at a lame duck? Keep paying him like a RB coach of mid-tier team?! If we want to compete in the B1G East, we need to put our money into the program. -

Read something else that makes me think the raise was a good move: Indiana football has a competitive salary at the HC position for the first time in maybe ever. If we need to replace KDub at some point, we now at least have the precedent of $2.5 million/year. Wouldn't be hard to stretch that to $3 million for a proven coach. Smart move by Glass. -

Yeah, still don't expect them to rollover. But that doesn't hurt at all. -

Not an easy looking schedule. Have to go 3-0 to start the season, but Ball State always puts up a fight. -
I'm talking about this team, not his other 17. This team may be coming into their own, and how a game at the beginning of the year really loses relevance as the season progresses.

Good thing your opinion has repeatedly been garbage. @Justin_Albers: Kevin Wilson has improved the program, but one 6-6 season and a bowl appearance doesn't warrant that kind of extension. My opinion. #iufb -

Great move. Good luck next year, KDub. -
Wasn't implying we're around the bend and gunning for a banner, more pointing out that early season performance is a terrible indicator of how good the team is now. They've clearly learned how to play better defensively as a team, and turnovers are decreasing. As you pointed out, it is yet to be seen whether the recent performances against Wisky and OSU are going to be norm.

Don't be so ignorant mdn82, teams cannot grow and develop over the course of a season. We are what we were, and nothing can change that.

I may be looking at this wrong, but when Indiana has the ball, meaning Minnesota is on defense, Minnesota has the 217th ranked steal percentage. Meaning they aren't good at stealing the ball. They don't turn the ball over, and it appears that they also do not allow opposing teams to steal the ball from them, thus the 18th ranked steal percentage when Minnesota has the ball. Based on how I understand this data, Minnesota is in the bottom half of the NCAA in terms of forcing turnovers. Love our offensive numbers next to their defensive numbers. Should be an absolute blow out, if we play our game.

Too bad he's decided to instead demonstrate the inability to forgive. He's reportedly at odds with players who have come back to Indiana or who have stood by their loyalty to Indiana. The only thing he has demonstrated in the past 15 years is that when you don't get your way, pout and hide. Would be great to have former players more involved in how the program is run. Guyton would be a fun addition to the athletic department.

We're not replacing JBJ with RoJo. He earned a starting spot along side JBJ. With JBJ out, we'll see more minutes from OG, JuWan, and Biefeldt. We're a much better defensive team with them taking JBJ's minutes. Still not sure how badly we will miss his offense as we currently have Troy, RoJo, and Z slumping on offense. We will see! -

I'm picking on Hartman because a few are calling for him to start. I'd much rather see Morgan, OG, or Biefeldt start. They've all played "gutsy" as well, while providing greater contributions, IMO.
