Maybe it is different with basketball because there is a waiting list, but I spent my summers in college calling season ticket holders for the IU Auditorium to inquire about renewal. I think that they probably just called you because your account was flagged that you didn't renew. Again, could be different because its basketball, but I am assuming that the process is somewhat similar.

I used to work with the IU Auditorium in college and it is standard procedure to call people that do not renew their season tickets to see why or to check to make sure they didn't forget. Not saying that there isn't a decline in season ticket renewals, but I don't think the fact that they called you is necessarily indicative of it.

I don't like to comment as much as I used to because things on here can be pretty toxic, but I do have an observation directed to some a people. It doesn't make much sense to me when you say that you want us to adopt a model of building talent over the course of three or four years and then completely write off a player after his freshman year. -
His evidence is what IU is doing per the team doctors. Yours is just your armchair opinion. Just because one side has good sources and the other has bad sources doesn't mean that someone is being one sided.
-
Everyone here is implying they are more right than doctors and scientists by saying that IU is being overly cautious and should allow Rob to play when IU is following the recommendation of a Doctor. Also doctors and scientists can be wrong, but they are usually proven wrong by other doctors and scientists. If our society made more decisions after looking at scientific facts (agreeing and conflicting facts) instead of their armchair quarter back gut, we would all be in a better place. Don't insinuate that a doctors don't know what they are talking about by quoting some fat o-line coach who is only famous because of a funny video (I know not you).

You really think discussing casual fandom of a sport played by kids is the same as saying you are more right than a doctor or a scientist? Especially when it comes to the health of a young man?

I totally agree, but I think at times it hinders the offense. Archie doesn't really have a choice on the matter, and luckily he is a solid contributor on defense. Hopefully he can get health and understand his role in time to contribute by the end of the season. -
The amount of neurological experts on here is amazing. When it comes to the health of a young man, I will go with the experts.

He was/is shooting it at about %40 this season, but taking less than 1 attempt per game. That is why I go nuts when he has an open one and doesn't take it. There was one play specifically that comes to mind where he was open for a corner three from a pass from the post by Morgan. He holds the ball until the defender crashes him, dribbles it around trying to get rid of it, realizes shot clock is set to expire, and then throws up a corner jumper that hits the front of the rim. He did airmail one last night, but you got to recover from that. We don't need him to take step back jumpers, but when he is wide open when Morgan and Langford are sucking in defense, he needs to shoot it. Look at how Smith has adjusted these last few games. The first few, he was trying to create. Now he is letting the game come to him through Langford and Morgan. I just wish McRoberts would do the same. -

They only attempted 12 last night and over half of those were from Romeo and Juwan. I agree that Green needs to run the offense more, but he has a solid shot at times. Not sure if you want to completely take that away. McRoberts is what I thought he would be this summer. A guy that does some of the immeasurable at times, but is a liability on offense. When the ball goes to him, it seems the whole offense stalls. He did have four steals though. He just needs to be more active on offense. -

I think is just a change in the demographic. There is a split of IU fans around 35 years old. Those older believe that the old guard can do no wrong because of the great things that happened in the 80s. Everyone younger than that only know Alford as the legendary player with a less than stellar coaching record and a guy who covered up rape accusations, Knight as the legendary coach that will do paid meet and greets at Purdue and for a politician but refuses to do anything for the IU fan base or more importantly his former players and has said some pretty bad stuff, and Dan Dakich who gets in twitter fights with frat bros because he believes he "gets it" better than everyone else. Not saying I agree with these assessments entirely, and I agree the good they did gets lost in the fray, but I definitely think that has something to do with it. -

I personally take issue with how he handled himself in Iowa regarding Pierre Pierce. That being said, I don't really care that he got fired or what UCLA does moving forward. I do wish that Wilkes came to IU thought. -
(2019) SG Armaan Franklin to IU
Chips&Dipo replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
That is also because they haven't got a pay raise in over five years. My friend and sister have the same salary they had when they started teaching over five years ago. They haven't even got a cost of living adjustment. Plus, they have to pay for many of the supplies they need to do their job. But hey, at least we saved the tax payer that extra $1.25 a year! -
(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
Chips&Dipo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
That is a legitimate concern, but Duke, UK, and KU have all had instances where a top 10 player came in and didn't do well and it doesn't seem to hurt them at all. Granted they have more instances of success, but I don't think players will hold it against IU. Also, say he comes back for a sophomore season like Miles Bridges and has a Naismith like season and still gets drafted in the top ten. That would still show IU's ability to develop players. Edit: didn't realize other people already commented on this. Sorry for contributing to the derailment! -
If we were to leave Adidas. Who is your pick?
Chips&Dipo replied to yogisballin's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I am not a shoe guy and I only wear sneakers for working out (and they are always shoes my wife buys me when holes start to develop in my old pair). That being said, I think Nike (including Jordan) and/or Adidas are the best bet moving forward. They have the biggest brand recognition and make cool stuff (I think). Side note, this whole Nike/NFL/Kap/Anthem series of events seems to be the most successful instance of misdirect for both sides in the history of America. -
IUBB vs Central Arkansas - 12/19 @ 7:00
Chips&Dipo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
They weren't bringing the energy to start the game, but it is also Central Arkansas on December 20th. After they woke up (and some words from Archie) they brought the energy and cruised to a victory and gave some of the younger bench players some experience. Hope Rob is okay! -
In the past five years they missed the tourney twice, in 2017 or 2015.
-
I was trying to show the ridiculousness of it all but I realized it made me sound just a big an @$$ so I stopped.
-
If they don't get penalized for not playing (which they shouldn't) does that mean they should be rewarded for not playing (which they were by receiving 70 more points)? Shouldn't their week 6 and week 7 points be the same?
-
So then it isn't what they've done most recently (that week)? They are taking Marquette's whole body of work into consideration?
-
If that were the case, why did Marquette get 70 more points for a week that they didn't play a game during?

Don't forget that the series between Butler and IU at the Crossroads Classic is now 2-2!
