Update. The four couples that are going to the tailgate are going to have a chicken wing cooking contest. In college, we had a chili cooking contest and since it won't quite be chili season yet and we don't really need four vats of chili, we thought wings would be fun and easy. I think DeRon will benefit from having Juwaun, OG, and TB. He doesn't have to go in immediately and will be limited in minutes. This will allow him to develop and learn without crushing his confidence and motivate him, which will be beneficial to him in the long run.

I asked my ten year old nephew if he is excited about IUFB this year. He said yes of course because he is a big IUFB like his dad, uncle, and granddad. I then asked him if he though they would be good and he shrugged his shoulders. That perfectly frames my fandom of IUFB the past 20 years. I want to be excited, but I have been let down so many times before.

The turkey took about 21/2 to 3 hours. It was a smaller bird (I had a lot of trouble finding a good one). I injected and rubbed it the night before and it turned out great. My buddy's sister was still in college and she and her friends really appreciated having that as an option for tailgate consumption. I did find that it was tough monitoring and controlling the heat on the fields. That was the nice thing about the turkey, low maintenance and great results.

Two of my buddies and I do a tailgate every season. We decided the Ball State game because of our schedules. Last year, I grilled a turkey. Looking for suggestions for other creative grilling ideas (that are beer friendly).

I was forced to eat a family brunch with the future wifey during this game. They let me keep it on mute in the background. When he did that I hollered and got in trouble for scaring the everyone. A lot of times the problem with people and money isn't that someone doesn't have enough money (though that certainly is a problem with lots of people), it is that they don't prioritize needs and wants and calculate how far their money can go. Speaking as a college grad that ate garbage but went to nick's and KOK 4-5 times a week.

Kind of unrelated, but my fiance and I are getting married in the hall at the north end zone over looking the football field next May. Finalized it this weekend. Surprisingly that was her choice (my first one was at the IU Auditorium and Showalter Fountain).
