Best bad day in program history?
-
Underrated game we could use…Miami losing at Syracuse.
-
My nightmare scenario has already been avoided by at least one game w/ Ole Miss losing. But, war eagle!, boomer sooner!, whatever you say for Army!, go Vandy next week! Still many results that could work in our favor.
-
I wrote that last week, so “next week” meant today, against OSU.
-
I'm not sure the "they should play 9 conference games" thing helps us, specifically, this year. I agree if they played a 9 game conference schedule, one or two of those teams probably have a 3rd loss, and a 1 loss IU (if we lose ;-)) has some breathing room. But they also played: NC State (UT), at Wisconsin (Bama), Notre Dame (A&M), Clemson (UGA), at Michigan (Texas) and at Wake Forest (Ole Miss). Some of those aren't crazy difficult games, but they're all power 4 OOC opponents. Had they been looking at a 9 game conference schedule, you can mark the majority, if not all of those games listed above off the schedule. Also to be clear, this is not me advocating for the SEC. I despise that conference, and I'm 100% in on Indiana making the field with 1 loss. I'm just not convinced this argument is a knock on these 2 loss teams, this season.

This was a good start. Had they dropped us this week, with no logic as to why, we’d be doomed if we lost this weekend.
-
Surely she meant seeds and not rankings. Has to be. This would make us ranked 9th, seeded 11th. Still trash at the moment. But it highlights my nightmare scenario where the most recent memory of us is sneaking by Michigan, then we were idle while UGA got a "big" win. And if you rank GA ahead of us, you also have to rank Ole Miss ahead of us b/c they just beat Georgia while we were sneaking past Michigan and oh wait Georgia can't jump Alabama b/c they lost to Alabama so they have to move in front of Indiana as well.....

Yeah there are a lot of things that can break our way the next 2 weeks. Not least of which is us taking care of our own business. Others that would work in our favor: PSU @ Minnesota, ND @ USC, UT @ Vandy, maybe Bama @ Oklahoma though I really doubt it. I think if any of the 6 games mentioned work in our favor, we stay ahead of that team in the rankings w/ a loss in Columbus.
-
This is a nightmare scenario I can’t get out of my head. The 6 SEC teams win out besides A&M beating TX, making them all 2 loss teams. ND, PSU and OSU win out as well. We lose next week in that scenario obviously. You’ve got Oregon, SEC champ, ACC champ, B12 champ, G5 champ, and ND as locks. OSU and PSU are in ahead of us. That leaves 5 spots for IU and 4 two loss SEC teams and the 3 loss SEC team who loses their championship game. I don’t want to be IU on selection day in that scenario.
-
Yeah me neither. Ideal scenario would be for UT to pull this off, A&M to beat TX, and UT to lay a stinker at Vandy, which would guarantee another 3 loss SEC team after their title game. Or, we just dog walk our way through Columbus next week.
-
I think 100% we get jumped by UT if they win. Hard to make an argument against it. BYU jumping is would be lame, but also wouldn’t affect our seed, right?

In the real world, I understand a retention bonus to mean if you don’t leave, we pay you this lump sum of money. So if this retention bonus works the same way, the details might be something like each year he’ll be paid $1M on September 1st every year as long has he’s still employed as the IU football coach. In other words, I don’t think it’s added to his salary, we’ll be cutting a $1M check.

Gotta think Maryland pulls this one off no matter what.

It can’t go worse, right? I’m headed to the Palestra in January. If that also goes poorly, maybe I’m just bad at bucket list trips to see the Hoosiers and I’ll let you try Eugene on your own.
-
My lingering fomo of not going to the UCLA game virtually locks me into the trip to Eugene next season. See you there.

Palestra game (@ PSU) tickets on sale
NashvilleHoosier replied to NashvilleHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah I assumed I'd be in for way more than that with the secondary market being the only option. I'd love to see a game at the Palestra, and my alma mater playing there is too good to pass up for that price. -
I'm sure there are rules against posting something in one thread, and then starting a topic on the same subject, but I'm feeling frisky after locking in tickets for a lower price than expected to this game. Let's fill the Palestra with Crimson! https://pennathletics.evenue.net/events/PSU

Tickets for the game at the Palestra went on sale to general public today. Plenty left to snag. Let's fill it up!! https://pennathletics.evenue.net/events/PSU

Why wouldn’t it be huge IU fan Mark Zuckerberg?
