    Kind of odd that they had us ahead of Xavier and SDSU yesterday. We all 3 lost but they moved us behind both of them.

    That had to take forever to drive the plane from Clark Co. to Bloomington. I think I would have just flown straight there.

    Why has he taken 3 seasons off, out of curiosity? Considering it’s hard to pull coaches from places where they are having success, surely he’s gotten some calls in the past several offseasons. Why is he ready to get back into it now, on a much larger stage?

    Do you think any consideration will be given to this win being at a neutral site, even though technically a home game for PSU? I can see this being a differentiator if we are super close with another team, that one of our quad 1 wins would be well into quad 2 territory if it counted as a neutral site game.

    We can still give him that better raise. The agent could have said, look Scotty, for Dusty’s sake and to keep the noise down, we’re signing the extension. The good news is we kept the buyout manageable so you only have to come up with another $2.5M. Scott laughs and says, “that’s it? Done.” I think the extension was the smart move but inconsequential, if Dusty is interested in coming here.

    That may end up being true. But I would also think signing the extension, making those statements, and then later “changing your mind” to take your dream job for an offer you can’t refuse is way more comfortable than not signing the extension and having to constantly deal with the speculation as he’s trying to close out a potentially very successful season.

    No way we’re buying that Dusty is unavailable b/c his buyout is now $7.5M and he said the things he should say to keep the noise down. We could double his salary and give Michigan $10M just for fun. Aren’t we discussing Cronin being a serious candidate with like a $16M buyout? If Dusty has even a shred of interest, he’s no less in play than he was yesterday.

    Remarkably, during that meeting in sunny Philadelphia, Scotty D set up this exact scene and had all the contact details outlined and pinned to the wall. Head loved it.
