I am not sure about the 3 years. If next year is an improvement from this year then probably but if the same or worse then I don’t think year 3 is guaranteed. Personally I think Dolson finds a way to get a lot more NIL money for next year so that can buy DD and himself more time.

I wonder if he (Dolson) get caught up in the Cig success and thought DD was potentially the basketball version. I doubt he knew none of his primary staff or players would him. I bet he looked at the success he had when the Dolson was at their games and thought he seems to get it done which may be true but the having to completely rebuild the staff and roster made this an unnecessarily harder task. Now combine that with a middle of the pack NIL and a meh year 1 and he may not be able to overcome this, even if he is a good coach.

Is Bruce Pearl restricted at all by Auburn?

I know kids from the eastern part of the US that went to IU solely because they were basketball fans and wanted to experience it. Unfortunately they were there during some very lean years. So you would have to figure the impact of increased enrollment from basketball, however, football is more than doing this now. I doubt if we had a great basketball and football program it would have much of an impact vs a great football program and a meh basketball program. I do wonder if there is risk in losing donor money if the on court product is not much improved. I bet WVU fans are enjoying this.

Big red flag for me was that none of his WVU players or recruits wanted to follow him. The staff was very active in HS recruiting this cycle. Snow mentioned this a few times and noted that other schools seemed to be focusing on the portal vs HS and yet we did not have great results even when we gave more effort than other schools. No idea on who I would put as my top candidate but Bruce Pearl is available lol Recruiting is about selling a vision and momentum or a lot of cash. The first 2 are dying on the vine and the 3rd did not work for Woody.

Maybe I’m weird but this is one of my favorite additions. I quess I assumed we would get a QB but there have not been many linemen that seem like IU guys hit the portal yet and the better the line the better we move the ball.

The thing about linemen pay is that you don't just have to pay 1 of them or maybe a couple like with QB, WR maybe RB. You have double that with the linemen so if you say sure we can pay the newcomer $2M but the guys already in the fold are getting less then you probably have to bump them up too. I know we have a strong NIL pool of $ but I doubt we can get everyone we want or that $ will not be a limiting factor for some guys.

I heard Angelo Pizzo on a podcast and he thought it needed more time before something should be done. Not that he was thinking the story was not worthy but time would help it become more nostalgic perhaps. He did say some in his circle had been talking about it as a documentary. Personally I could see it coming together from 3 angles. Indiana's historically poor performance, Mendoza's being overlooked and Cig toiling away at lower levels. Build the story of each before bringing them together for this magical run.

Hopefully it means Martin and Beebe are back and maybe there is another production over potential guy we are looking at. Maybe it was a move to get our guys to decide if they were definitely staying.
