We really do need to add more threats from the perimeter and a high end PG seems to make the most sense. A very high end scoring 2 guard who plays great defense with Gallo at the point would improve on where we were last year too but I prefer the high end PG addition.

TJD, Ware and Malik is in his way. Staff has been very good developing bigs. Need more success at the guard and wing spots though to win in college. Hopefully they see that now.

Yeah he was a different player at the end of the year. Hopefully this offseason he really gets after it. He could easily be our #1 next year and an All BT player IF it all comes together

I agree but there were a lot of people saying most of our players were leaving. Now, we see all the key players that can return are. Recruiting your own is definitely part of winning the offseason.

Hard to say. If some of the better guards we supposedly had better contacts with have not entered yet I understand why we have no one committed yet. The guys coming in now may be getting backup offers and they may want starter roles. Now if we swing and miss Woody has a big issue.

Where do you see him being able to play on defense in the BT? Does he have a quick release on the outside shot? Does he move without the ball to an open space for a clean shot? Can he pass ?

To be fair though it has been thr blueblood way for awhile. We are just now catching up.

When you say “a while” does that mean I’m a few days or months?

IF the staff has been in contact with “agents” of players before the portal opened as has been suggested then the way the staff prioritizes kids will differ from visit timelines. For example if they think they have a good shot at player X who is still playing and not in the portal yet but would be an instant impact player for us then he would have priority 1. If we bring in a guy today that plays his position but is priority 2 or 3 for that spot I could see the staff’s pitch and NIL allocation being for a backup. This could go wildly wrong for the staff who may think we are getting several priority 1 guys but actually miss on those guys. Then if they try to pivot to the guys lower on the priority may find them committed elsewhere.

Hoping we can attract a younger 5 who can be here 2 years or more but would be seen as a backup in year 1 and a starter the following year.

I think he believes the staff have things already in place with guys who are still playing and not in the portal. Perhaps the new and improved portal relationships will be the key here and will deliver. Still have concerns then that we skip all the early kids with hopes that we can get a seat at the portal table only to miss out on them. I would love to be wrong though and obviously do not know who we may be talking to that is still playing. So we really won't know who we get until later. Time will tell..

Where would we see him playing if we assume we bring in a 5? Where would we see him playing if we do not bring in a 5?

I would love to see him stay at ISU and show us one more year. Can he continue to recruit and build that program? Can he sustain success? I worry if he goes to another school he may have a little rebuild going on there which may limit his appeal if we go coach shopping next year. If he stays at ISU, continues to be successful, then that would help answer some questions.
