(2016) PG Devonte Green to INDIANA
HoosierAloha replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
And the second best class in the B1G. Not really sure if there are any other big time recruits leaning to B1G programs besides Josh Jackson to MSU. MSU has a sick class on paper. -
(2016) PG Devonte Green to INDIANA

Welcome aboard, Devonte! Keep your head down, nose clean, and enjoy Btown and all that comes with being a basketball player at IU. -
Michigan and O$U have both been better than us the last 4 seasons as well. I did the research before and still have it saved somewhere in spreadsheets. We were 5th best in the conference behind UW, MSU, O$U, and MSU the last 4 seasons. Now you have to accunt for Maryland too. UW has dropped off a bit but pu and Iowa have passed us. After this season I could see IU being around 6th or 7th best over the last 5 seasons. So we've settled into that middle tier B1G team after Crean "stabilized" the program.
-
Goodness, if we're still having this conversation about Crean in 2018 one of two things will have happened. 1) IU flips the middle finger to its entire fanbase saying "hey, we're still making money, we don't care about being a top notch B1G program." or 2) Crean and "insert elite coach" run into each other and he becomes elite at running and coach a college program

Game winning 3 by Alford. Good ending to a game UCLA looked like it was going to choke away.

I see it as OG not having to do as much so he can shine. I think if he were to be relied on to do more he would struggle. A little off topic, the 3PT% from 2010-2011 to 2011-2012 was remarkable. Every returning player, minus Oladipo improved. That's what a solid post presence can do. Next year there will be plenty more opportunities for our shooters with both TB and DD. Player - 2010/11 3PT% - 2011/12 3PT% Watford - 38.1% - 43.7% Jones III - 29.8% - 30.3% Hulls - 41.4% - 49.3% Oladipo - 30.8% - 20.8% Elston - 17.6% - 55.2% Sheehey - 30.4% -38.3% Roth - 37.5% - 54.5% Moore - 37.5% - 0% Barnett - 16.7% - 25% Okay, I guess Moore didn't improve but only took 2 3PA that year.
-
Fixed it for you!
-
Huge 3 by Moore there.
-
I would agree it appears he's farther along than Oladipo at the same but there are a few factors that differentiate the two. Oladipo played more mpg and was a bigger part of that team. I think if you were to flip the two you would see OG struggle a bit more on that team then Oladipo on this team. I'm not taking anything away from OG as I think he is playing his role on this team perfect right now but don't think it's fair to compare the two like that. That 3P% is crazy though!! I also like his competitiveness on defense and rebounding.
-
The least I could do. It's never easy and far too often questions are left unanswered but it sounds like he was a great man and we can always be thankful we knew them and honor their name. I'm keeping his family, your family, the department, and the countless lives he touched in my thoughts and prayers.
-
Prayers sent up brother.
-
Wow! Great listen. DD has never been accused of holding his tongue and he sure didn't hold back.
-
I would agree we're oversigned more often than not. Just wanted the recorded to be straight that it didn't happen that way this past season. Depending on what happens with JBJ and Troy, along with other frosh/tranfers, we could end up oversigned next season.
-
I think he was booted around the same time Hanner was for their possession of pot? That would have been the spring time before Max or Newkirk were brought in.
-
So we were not oversigned? We were at 11 with the 15' class coming in, Max made it 12 in June, Newkirk made it 13 in August, and Holt was released a week or so later to get back down to 12.
-
Did we oversign this season? I thought we still had an open scholly?

Indiana v. Wisconsin postgame thread
HoosierAloha replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
That might be a good move to get Troy going. Some players are just better coming off the bench, like Sheehey. I think it years to come OG will be difficult to keep out of the starting lineup. One of the things I like about OG and JMor is they appear to be humble, hardworking players that actually care about playing defense. I think the entire image of "leadership" changes when we have RoJo, TB, OG, and JMor running things. -
I don't think we have many open scholarships, maybe 1? I think we are filling the positions we need with the 2016 class minus a top notch PG.

I agree he needs more minutes but I still think as a frosh he plays a better role off the bench. He gets to see how the game is being played before jumping in. I like this role for RoJo as well but I'm not sure who you start in his place.
