  1. In the case of someone like Popovich I don't think he'd have much trouble recruiting considering the success he's had at the NBA level.  Everyone is going to be an unknown unless they've already coached at this level, even Crean was an unknown.
  2. I wouldn't (I know, shocking huh?).   Although one thing to consider is that there are a lot more donors that don't donate 7 figures, so while individual voices won't be as loud but collectively it could be a different story.
  3. Nope, the same mistakes over and over year after year have nothing to do with coaching.  It also has nothing to do with coaching that Crean's average defense ranks around 95th.  He's just incredibly unlucky.   When players don't take care of the ball or play defense they're also supposed to pull themselves from the game.  That's not part of coaching either.
  4. Fixed.   That's the understatement of all understatements.  The gap between those two makes the Grand Canyon look like a small step.
  5. Where does this "he's a good coach" stuff keep coming from, even though he's shown time and again he's not?  Who are you really trying to convince, his detractors or yourselves?  Do people like him so much as an individual that they refuse to acknowledge the elephant in the room, or do they think if they say it enough times he'll magically become a good coach?  What has he shown to be called a good coach, a team collection of talent great in transition and little else?
  6. We've always looked good when we can run.  Force us to the halfcourt and oof, weave and total street ball.  Like he went from a middle school game to Rucker Park and thought "wow, such a great offensive approach".
  7. As opposed to years 1-7 where we did the same thing?
  8. Just look at his coaching hist...oh, he evidence of his coaching prowess isn't there either. Yeah, I'm interested where this "he's a good coach" line keeps coming from as well.
  9. Yeah, he's rebuilding again. In year 8. At this point we should be expecting the NCAAs minimum every season, we should be winning consistently. Not making excuses like these and humiliating ourselves like we just did.
  10. Nick Saban said the same thing. He's not stupid, he's going to say that.
  11. Well the coach has seldom held anyone accountable, they screw up time and time again, both on and off the court, and usually nothing happens.  We've very seldom seen him sit someone for poor play, Hanner sat 2 games for driving drunk and Troy failed multiple drug tests before he stood in the corner; that's not being held accountable.  Is it the players not playing defense or Crean not being good at coaching defense (he's not, at all, and it's inarguable)?  Sure they could be held accountable when they decide defense is the thing between neighbors yards but someone to hold them accountable and no one here does.   When the same problems exist over multiple years and show little to no improvement, it's on the coaches not the players.
  12. I don't know if it's worse, but it's not much better.  Believe it or not I think Crean is a better coach than Davis, but I wouldn't trust Davis coaching a pickup game so there is that (and now I see Crean's street ball offense, way to go JS).  With both I find myself a lot of times watching and saying the team wasn't prepared, and I don't think we're going to win the in game chess match.
  13. There is a lot more to Indiana University than athletics, no one will deny that.  However, athletics are a very visible part and in our case a huge portion of that is basketball.  Athletics act like a window.  Successful teams get more people interested in attending and bring in more money.  No one is making the argument that athletics should be the soul part or that the university president should be solely focused on them.  Should he be interested in their success though?  Absolutely.
  14. In year 6 we missed the NCAAs with 2 McD AAs.  In year 8 we humiliate ourselves in Maui with 3.  And Crean won't lose his job.   THAT's what I meant by Alabama refused to accept mediocrity.  When they needed the homerun hire, they said "screw it, we're Alabama" and swung for the fences.  We need a homerun hire and need to be saying "screw it, we're Indiana" and aiming for the cheap seats, but we think it'll be different if we give this guy all the time he wants.   Crean didn't build a team this year, he put together a collection of talent.
  15. He did once.  He said it a few months after the fact, but that's better than his usual "it's not my fault" bit.
  16. Translation:  "I'm getting exposed because they're not carrying me".  Yeah, we know, we know, we know.
  17. After this tourney they're either thinking "IU needs me" or "WTH is Crean trying to sale me?"
  18. He knows, he doesn't care.  He doesn't care that Crean is hurting Indiana basketball, he wants whats best for Crean.  He's not being an AD, he's being a fanboy.
  19. This guy is getting paid 3 million a year because DWade carried him to a Final Four.
  20. It's 1 2 losses in November, looked like crap in each game in Maui, oh and Crean is still coach.  But don't fret.
  21. This is bad and it's too early for the annual Tom Crean late season swoon.  That'll be fun when that inevitably happens....
  22. Yes, and next and the next or until either Glass is fired or someone over his head makes the decision for him.
  23. This team has enough issues.
  24. Didn't she also make a comment about "laughing our way to the bank" last season?
