He wasn't even that good at Marquette really. A so-so winning % and missed the tournament almost half the time; and outside of one fluke run didn't make it past the 2nd round if he did make it. I was on the Scout board at the time and Marquette fans weren't too upset. They actually had the same complaints we have now.

I think you're giving him a little too much credit as a coach. I'd say he's wildly mediocre since mediocre is the only thing he's been with any sort of consistency.

It'd be nice to go back to saying we have the advantage because our coach is better.

Thought I'd add, another UK fan I know once said he hopes IU keeps Crean forever.  Now even he says IU deserves better.  It's bad when a rival switches like that.

My issue with his post game pressers is that he's kind of two faced about it.  After a win when he's getting softball questions he's buddy buddy with the media, after loss when he has to answer tough questions he's an a**.   Don't get me wrong, I couldn't possibly care less if a coach is an a** to the media, many times they deserve, but be consistent.

Yogi's a leader?  Really?  Not according to his coach considering Tom Crean himself said this team has no leaders.  Let's break it down, shall we?  "This team has no leadership", according to Crean himself, and Yogi is part of the team ergo Yogi isn't a leader (or not much of one).  I know, I know, that's not glowing of Yogi and is therefore frowned upon by some on this board but it's coming from the coach himself.   And no Crean is not a "boss" recruiter.  He's good, not great.  He's good at getting kids to say yes, but he's not particularly good at balancing classes or putting together a well constructed roster; both of which are part of recruiting.  He also totally whiffed on the 2012 class sans one player which has to be a knock against him.  We really overrate how good of a recruiter he is.  He's good at getting kids to commit because he could sell ice to an eskimo, but there is more to recruiting than that.

Eh, it was people extrapolating that from a few Crean quotes.  It was Crean being good at what he's always been good at, talking.

A better coach wouldn't make the team better? That's a new one. I don't care if his players like him. That worked out so well when it landed us Mike Davis.

I don't think Marshall is the homerun we need, but I do like him and he's definitely better than we have.

Crean's average defense ranks around 95th for his career, not good. He's only had a handful in the top 50. In almost 20 years. That's not on him?

I'm not sure if he has Glass THAT fooled, or if Glass just doesn't give a crap.  It's one or the other, if he had the expectations he claims he would've fired Crean this off season.  Glass is the biggest Crean fanboy around so there is that too.   EDIT:  But hey, Crean will schedule enough teams you can't find on Google to win 20 a year.

You think I'm not?  I don't like repeating the same things, but we have the exact same issues game after game and year after year.

I kid you not, tonight a UK fan friend of mine said "Indiana has better high school coaches".  The same UK fan that once said IU deserves better.
