  1. And for what it's worth, there was another true big in the past ten years at IUBB that, between his first and last year, had his per game point production go up 25%, his FG percentage rise, his blocked shots double, his free throw percentage improve, and his turnovers per minute go down. For our BtownBanners brain-trust, any idea who?
  2. No way, Brass. I remember well the criticisms of Watford for playing far too soft his first few years. By his senior year he was no longer a shooter who had to play the four spot; he turned into a big that could shoot.
  3. It surely does with talent defined as "natural athletic ability." I tend to define talent as including qualities that are between the ears, and including talents like footwork and skill that are developed. I think we are saying the same thing...Happ is better at basketball!! :)
  4. Would not surprise me. one. little. bit. I know it's tea leaf speculation, but DeRon is from Colorado and came for FCTC and McClain, not for IU.
  5. Talent is as talent does. "Talent" is such an overused and ill-defined criteria: Is "talent" pure athletic ability? If so, then Hanner Perea and Freddie McSwain are extraordinary talents. Or, is "talent" how far a player gets in the pros? If so, then IU has only produced one NBA impact player (Vic) in the past ten years (who's been gone for four years), and have none on the current roster. Is "talent" a high-school star rating thing? If so, then IU fares better, but the current roster doesn't especially thrill in that department either. So, I believe it's a combination of Athletic ability, Skill development, Focus, On-court judgment, and Drive to succeed. Crean did a crappy job of filling the current (or last year's ) roster with "talent" under that definition. In other words...Talent is as talent does.
  6. No! We were more talentless than many perceive last year: One NBA player and two G-League hopefuls. The nine year Crean era produced two guys who are currently an NBA starter (OG and Vic).
  7. Davis was exposed to me in the Duke game. How? By showing me how good he can be when he gives real effort. Everything since then has been the same player, but without real effort. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  8. At the end of this season this roster sheds: McSwain Priller Newkirk A broken down Hartman RoJo And, I betcha, DeVonte Green That will make a huge difference. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  10. Looks like a nasty-a$$ Kentucky Wildcat player committing a nasty foul on a victim non-nasty-non-Kentucky player to me. Nasty-a$$ Kentucky nastiness! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  11. WAY longer, and three inches taller than Juwan. Not as skilled as Juwan. Like others have said, JF fits a profile we haven’t seen. Perea was supposed to be this, but was a disaster. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  12. Welcome to 2018, where the last undefeated season in college basketball will still belong to... The 1976 Indiana Hoosiers. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  13. Oh my goodness. Football and basketball are so very, very different in that respect. An effective scheme and play calling coach in football can do some amazing things in a hurry. In basketball it’s so much harder to have an immediate turnaround. Besides, that “huge turnaround Purdue football coach” finished his first season at 7-6, 4-5 in conference. Archie Miller’s first IU team is currently 8-6, 1-1 in conference. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  14. Bryant Macintosh down with what appeared to be a serious knee injury. Another top-tier Big Ten player bites the dust. Oof. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  15. Probably best to take your disagreement to PMs gentlemen. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  16. UMBC up six at half at Maryland. Stetson and Nebraska tied at half. B1G? Oof. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  18. Nate Mason will likely miss the IU game, and Jackson will miss both against IU. Maybe Archie can get em to 10 conference wins? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  19. IU - Good enough. YSU - REALLY bad. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  20. Using who Crean signed as evidence of anything is silly. That doesn’t mean that any signee is anything other than a “wait and see”, but what do Priller and April have to do with Jake Forrester? Nothing Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
