Simspon to Miami. Replacing Bekc. That tracks.
-
Oh ****... maybe this isn't AI generated fiction! Ty Simpson is not worth that much, but Ty Simspon? He is one high-priced get.
-
Geez, is he really that good? Either he's not, or the IU defense made him look pretty meh. FWIW: Ty, if you're reading this, I recommend you take the Miami offer at $2.5 million more than the others. :) (btw, this looks like complete online generated fiction to me lol)

This Miami board thread is really interesting. In short? Their ticket distribution system is a complete technical hot mess. More importantly? As @Hovadipo intimated previously, their priority system not only allowed 2026 season ticket purchasers or recent NIL contributors (which IU fans could be) to get into the queue, the system apparently prioritized 2026 season ticket purchasers over 2025 season ticket purchasers. So IU fans that were wise enough to back into a CFP ticket by buying a UMiami 2026 ticket for cheap have done hit da jackpot. https://www.canesinsight.com/threads/dear-um-ticket-office.205738/ -
I just don't get it. I love Klatt being near the top and the unexpected good vibes for Auerbach is nice to see, but Saban is not good and is nowhere as informative as Urban. And BaldTrollDumb@$$? That dislike for him is a badge of honor - he is a purposeful troll that does his SEC hot takes to generate fan interest via hate listens. So I appreciate him as someone who is probably really good for generating interest in the sport, pro wrestling heel style. BaldTrollDumb@$$ and Urban are both infinitely smarter and more interesting than turds like Brady Quinn and Desmond Howard.

The point about other, non-Florida/Indiana out-of-staters is excellent and sound logic - far sounder logic than my first blush/on its face conclusion. Gotta be 60%+ from non-Florida states for IU. And 45% of current sales have been to non Florida/Indiana customers. If we continue to fill 22% of the 55% of total tickets sold to the two 'school states', that's 40% of those, or 40% of 35,750 seats. That equals 14,300 Hoosier fans. Combine that with 65% of the remaining states. 65% of the remaining 29,250 seats equals 19,012 more IU fans. 19,012 + 14,300 total estimated IU fans equals 33,312 IU fans, so If 65% of the non 'school state' fans are IU fans, the current estimate is just over 51% of the stadium rooting for IUFB. If 60% of the non 'school state' fans are IU fans, that would put the stadium at almost an exact 50/50 split. -

Current Tickpick stats about the purchase locations for the game? 33% in Florida. 22% in Indiana. Now I suppose there are a few IU fans in Florida, but i would expect the crowd to be 40-50% IU and 50-60% Miami. -
Geez - he's been there a bunch of times and there's no football activity by then. Almost seems as though the only reason to return again is to deliver some important news!

Makhai Frazier to IU is a thing. Not a sure thing, but a reasonably likely thing. 5'10", 218 with two years of eligibility remaining. Will be in Bloomington on Thursday. https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/5084286/makhi-frazier -
Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA... Forever and Ever, Amen!

Cig is in no way "connected" to the Raiders job. In absolutely no way. The heart of this article? "... CBS Sports analyst Leger Douzable suggested that the Las Vegas Raiders should consider pursuing Cignetti." This is not a thing in any way whatsoever. -
And he’s a hell of a good football coach. He has said these kind of things about IU all season long.

An injury summary article from Cristobal's presser today: "The good news for Miami per Cristobal, is that EDGE Akheem Mesidor is fine after a minor arm injury in the Semifinals where an Ole Miss lineman feel on his arm. Furthermore, Cristobal noted that DT Ahmad Moten Sr was “full go” in today’s practice, and should continue to be so. Moten Sr. had been battling an ankle issue from a nasty hi-low combination block against Ohio State that ended with his leg rolled up on by an OSU lineman but no penalty called for the infraction. As far as defensive backs O.J. Frederique and Damari Brown go, Cristobal said Frederique should be good to go in the National Championship game, while Brown is more “day to day” with his injury. The injury that could affect Miami most is the one to TE Elija Lofton. While he didn’t go into specifics, Cristobal did say that the player in question who might not be able to play in the National Championship Game is Lofton, a starter on Miami’s offense. If Brown is unable to play, expect to see more of true freshman CB Jaboree Antoine in the secondary. He played well in his snaps in the Semifinals, and will likely get more snaps in the Championship Game with starter Xavier Lucas suspended for a half due to a targeting call from the previous game. Double that if Frederique is limited in his game action. With Lofton doubtful* — my assumption based upon Cristobal’s words today not an official designation — for the National Championship Game, look for more snaps from co-starter TE Alex Bauman, and snaps from true freshman Luka Gilbert. Miami could also go with even more 3 WR sets instead of 2 TE sets to utilize the depth at receiver over tight end in spots." -

I will wait to see. I'm not falling into the trap of necessarily thinking that higher touted players equals higher level play. We will be very, very good, but even better than this year is a near impossible standard. -

It's a great question, and I think the interweb has the scoop for you from, believe it or not, the University of Texas 247 message board. This poster took the DOBs from the IU players who have their actual DOB listed on 247, including our 28 year old punter, and came up with an average age of 20.58 years old. But the majority of players without a listed DOB on 247 are freshman and sophomores -- younger than the players with empirical data. So the extrapolated average age of the current IU roster is approximately 20 years old: _______________________________________________________________ John Haynsworth Posted on Jan 9th, 7:32 PM, , User Since 241 months ago, User Post Count: 3363 Jan 9th, 7:32 PM 241 months 3363 went ahead and did the math on this because i'm a f*in loser: first of all, presumably for privacy reasons, the IU athletics site doesn't list birth dates. so coming up with their ages for that number floating around would have needed to rely on less than reliable data, presumably. i went with the IU 247 site, since they're one of the few that lists ages. not perfect, but good enough for sample sizing: https://247sports.com/college/indiana/Team/Indiana-Hoosiers-Football-67/Roster/ that site lists 101 players (the IU athletics site lists 101 players as well). in order to get to an average of 23 years, we'll need to get to a total of 2,323 years. of the 101 players on the roster, 247 provided ages for 34: 700 total years on the dot, for an average of 20.58 years. this includes a 28-year-old punter. so the remaining 67 players who do not have ages need to get to a total of 1,623 years - an average of 24.22 years. except of those 67 remaining players, 35 of them are listed as freshmen or sophomores. for the sake of argument, let's say these 35 freshmen and sophomores are 21 years old each. the average age of the remaining 32 players would still need to be 27.75 years old to get to a team average of 23 years old. i'm going to simply refuse to believe that IU has 32 players who are AT LEAST an average age of 27 years old. it's entirely possible that the 247 IU site has bad data. so i can't rule out 23 years old being accurate. but if 247 is accurate, then the probability that the IU roster averages 23 years is extremely low if the above checks out.

I read into it that the price was more important than the football for the kid. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s what I read into it. -

Ummm.. was this a film-watching party? Methinks that Mendoza, Hemby, Fisher, and Ponds are not on the invite list for these parties: #distractions
