  1. Bad interior defense that can’t consistently overachieve? Iowa is pretty good from distance so the guards didn’t drop down to assist the bad defense bigs?
  2. I think Gillispie was fired for misconduct—drunk and disorderly, at least in part. If Doherty got three then everyone gets three because he was an epic disaster.
  3. What about Banks? Him and Manyawu kinda destroyed our 4/5s yesterday. They were a combined 11-15 from the floor. Now when a team beats you by 20 they’re gonna have lots of good stats, but interior defense is a massive failure. Minny was 15/26 on twos against us. Iowa was 16/27 on twos. No bueno.
  4. Billy? Bruce? Scott? Braaaaad?!? Mark? Dusty? Jay? I shall settle for nothing less, dammit.
  5. That’s how EVERY administration rolls. Absent real misconduct, it would be malpractice to not give a coach three years.
  6. Both Iowa and Minnesota’s bigs completely dominated Alexis, Bailey, and Tucker. And they aren’t dominant bigs against other teams. They are longer, stronger, and just plain better than Bailey and Alexis. I said that Tucker would be a plus defensively? I seriously doubt that—though I have called Tucker “chubby,” does that count? :). Enright IS a plus defender (though foul prone). For 15 minutes a game he would be a disruptive excellent add. Stirtz went off when Enright got in foul trouble.
  7. The talent compared to the competition is not the same. Sisley and Conerway are the only plus athletes on the entire roster. That’s on the staff, but that almost entirely explains the problem.
  8. Enright was the first player in (other than Tucker) and he is a truly fantastic piece for a winning team. The problem is that he turned into a 30 minute per game starter.
  9. Rainy cold Sunday morning. Listening to Ro Sham Bo, the only album by The Grays, which included Jason Falkner of Jellyfish and Jon Brion. Really solid stuff.
  10. Sentimentalism on Saturday, followed by a ramp up to aggressive football by Monday night.
  11. On one hand, it’s not a great summary assessment of the current state of college sports, but on the other hand, interest is sky high and venues are selling out. So maybe it’s just me whining when not much is wrong.
  12. Yup. Bring back Sisley and (I guess) Dorn. Add Prince, who has talent and a cut above attitude. Add the one or two skinny long other freshmen. Rent five or six grown men players. Hope for the best for one year—next year. Rinse and repeat every year, until the rules of college sports change. Have I got it right?
  13. Not gonna link the Instagram post because it can’t be done anonymously, but highly recommend going to Holly Rowe’s Instagram account to view her post after watching Indiana football practice today.
  14. Is it into season three yet? No? Oh.
  15. That’s a big deal. Should be a currently underrated, yet featured player next season. Becker, Marsh, Preston, Morris, + hopefully Chandler or Bond develop into something special.
  16. Reporter to Cig in Miami: “Coach, your team has been able to handle this kind of stuff, the hoopla, before two bowl games. This should be no different, right?” Cig: ”Correct.”
  17. Pretty sure the Miami fans aren’t needing to stay in hotels. The split should be relatively even; between 45 and 55% for one team or the other.
  18. Carson Beck is really not very good. Seen him play twice this year and he misses with scary —turnover potential throws. If Fletcher can really get going and Miami takes an early lead the game will be nerve wracking, but if he can’t run like crazy on us I absolutely LOVE the chances that Beck melts down. Beck is a less good Ty Simpson with a better running game. Get an early lead and force them to put the ball in Beck’s hands? Sweet.
  19. You guys wanna know something interesting about a picture from that article—1987– immediately after Keith Smart’s shot? I am front and center in it!!!!
