Non-snarky response: Yes; of course they still talk about IUBB. Snarky response: You are.

And that's why I am reasonably sure that we had a truly top of the top guy that felt that way about IU, but we were a year too late to get him.

Mark Pope's very talented team had a very negative reputation going into their game against Iowa State:

UF’s guards have been their weakest players. Fland had a great defensive game until Iowa’s last possession and then he really f’d up by letting Stirtz catch it on the run past the three point circle. And Lee clearly needed to stop and get a shot up. And Golden REALLY messed up that possession with 8.9 seconds left. Took Iowa 3.5 seconds to get a wide open shot.

No way. He’s much more likely going to be motivated to stick it to teams that have overlooked him.

I only filled out one bracket this year and that’s who I’ve got winning at all. Didn’t count on Jefferson being hurt, but if he comes back, look out.

ISU 70 UK 47 The game has the exact same vibe as when IUFB played Bama.

Disagree; it’s sooo easy to throw shade at Purdump: We are the undefeated defending football national champions; they are good but endlessly “hopeful but disappointed” in basketball. We have a beautiful campus; they have a parking lot in a cornfield campus. We have arts and great food in Btown; and they have blah-meh-ick. We have beautiful, interesting women and intelligent, handsome men; they have cows and pocket protectors. We are the state’s flagship university; they are just a name. We are IU; they are PeeYew.

Confession: Now that IU is the undefeated National Football Champion a Puredoo win here and there doesn’t bother me nearly as much. Or maybe it’s because I’m becoming more mature. But it’s probably the former.

Transfer Portal w/IU Interest

San Jose St was terrible. Garland had his first really good season on that terrible team. Anyway, Devries and Norton should know his makeup well. -
Donaldson is destroying the Amish midget.
-
Here’s a hot take: put Donaldson back on Michigan instead of Cadeau and Michigan would be undefeated.
-
Miami is a really good team. The freshman Henderson is fantastic. This is a great game.

Colby Garland, 6’1” pg from San Jose St is in the portal. Played for Devries at Drake; 3rd team Mountain West last year. Kinda stocky lefty. Excellent numbers last season- rebounds well and gets to the FT line a ton, so I assume he’s a physical player. Very well could be a thing—wouldn’t think he’d be an especially expensive pickup. -
And he’s still really really good. Amazing to me how he sounds basically like the same guy as he did twenty years ago.

Are you proposing a secluded meal that includes Stephen Spielberg, Zendaya, Margot Robbie, Ben Affleck, and MICK CRONIN? i am so down with that.
-
Yes! Sub-optimal first few weeks that contributed to a meh first year. Doesn’t mean all is lost; means learn from it and do better.

Your post is a recitation of non-specific catchphrases. Every situation is different and the details of each situation are absolutely relevant. Will Devries succeed? I don’t know. But I do know it’s too soon to tell, that Devries hasn’t whined at all, and that “breaking down a door” sounds like a slogan, not a way for a coaching staff to establish a consistently winning program.
-
Another way of looking at it: Only one of the last three coaches that has moved up from Utah State has succeeded.
