Very interesting...here's some amateur detective work as to why I think so: Dain Ervin is the new CB prediction for Thomas Bryant to IU. Dain Ervin's son is Daquon Ervin, 2015 pg playing for Northfield Mt Herman prep in Massachusetts. In the past past six months, Daquon has re-tweeted both CTC and Alex Popp (who seems to be a very close friend of our staff). It seems that the Ervin's may have some lines of communication into our program. Not as important as if they had lines into the Bryant family, but relevant nonetheless. Daquon Ervin #1⃣0⃣ ™ retweeted Tom Crean @TomCrean · Jul 15 Average teammates are INTERESTED in their teammates. Great teammates are INVESTED in their teammates. Daquon Ervin #1⃣0⃣ ™ retweeted Alex Popp @CoachAPopp · Jul 7 The more obstacles you overcome, the stronger you become. Life doesn't get easier or more forgiving; you get stronger and more resilient.

There's a caravan coming from Huntington. Curtis Jones will be at Hoosier Hysteria!!!!!
-
Zimmerman's the same. He was also saying spring, but probably will commit before the end of the year.

^^This^^ is absolutely, very likely, true. But, perception can affect reality, and a cloud of allegations + the possibility of sanctions hanging over a program can have a negative effect on recruiting!

Trouble at the 'Cuse!?! Article from syracuse.com this morning is below. Thomas Bryant's mom, meet Marni Mooney! Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse officials have been invited to an NCAA hearing at the end of the month as part of a multi-year inquiry into the SU athletic department, two sources told syracuse.com. The hearing in front of the NCAA's Committee on Infractions signifies the lengthy investigation into Syracuse is complete. It will serve as one of the final steps before determining whether the school has committed NCAA violations and if it will be punished. Emily James, a spokesperson for the NCAA, said she can't comment on specific or possible cases, but when investigations necessitate hearings, they involve at least one Level I or Level II violation. The hearing means Syracuse faces accusations of a "severe" or "significant" breach of conduct. James said cases vary so significantly that she could not provide a baseline for a possible punishment for Syracuse. She also said most cases are resolved within 30 or 60 days of a hearing, but schools can appeal or new issues can arise. When asked on Thursday whether he would be attending the hearing, Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim walked away from a reporter. Athletic director Daryl Gross also declined to comment on if he would attend. "As my usual practice, and as you know, I don't comment on NCAA matters," Gross said via text message. Kevin Quinn, Syracuse's senior vice president for public affairs, also would not discuss the upcoming NCAA hearing. "As we have said before, we are working closely and cooperatively with the NCAA as part of an inquiry," Quinn said in an email. "We respect and are honoring the NCAA process and look forward to resolution." Among those usually invited to hearings, James said, are school presidents, athletic directors, compliance officials, individuals named in allegations and lawyers for both the school and individuals. It is not clear if the investigation is limited to the men's basketball team or includes other athletic programs at Syracuse.

(2015) SF Ogugua Anunoby to IU

"Sheehey and a bunch of flabby frat bros" would be an excellent name for a rock band. -
At this stage of his career, Boeheim has slipped pretty far into figurehead status. His assistants do a lot of the coaching; he is the father figure and final decision maker. On Tom Crean, from today's Ft. Wayne Sentinel article: "In practice, Crean paces the Assembly Hall floor, seeing nearly everything, pushing and prodding, encouraging and emphasizing. He demonstrates with passion -- getting into a defensive stance, surging into proper position, SHOWING rather than telling. He shouts to “rip it” and “attack” on offense, to “never dance with the ball” on defense. VERSUS: Jim Boeheim explains sleeping photo: "It was before the game. It wasn't during the game.":

You know what? I'm not gonna derail the thread, but I'm gonna say it, and I'm gonna risk others derailing the thread. Here goes: I know that Boeheim has a National Championship and is a Hall of Fame coach, but for an 18 year old recruit with a passion for the game...Jim Boeheim can't compete with Tom Crean. There...I said it cause it's true. :yahoo:

If my aunt had cojones she'd be my uncle. He's not a three star. (FWIW, I'd say...not worth it)
-
Thomas Bryant's play-style comparison? Dean Garrett...in a major way.
-
See my post #128 in this thread. That's exactly what I'm trying to say.

I gotta say; I am on record as being a fan of high character kids, and I know he has a bit of a history... but there's something about Jaquan that makes me think he is not a Jeremy Hollowell or Ron Patterson, and that if y'all hung out with him, he'd be extremely likable. The kind of kid you'd root for big-time to overcome and succeed.
-
To say that Kim Anderson is not a great recruiter is like saying that liquor is not a great birth control device.
-
Start watching at the 1:30 mark. Which big guy is going nuts enjoying the fruits of Jaquan's natural, savant-like basketball abilities? That would be one Thomas Bryant.

Wow.

We shall give OG the nickname... "Ogugua"! -
Many things in this world surprise me. Jaquan Lyle attending Indiana University would not surprise me. Not one little bit. Not at all.

Two things: 1) At least 6'6", long and athletic makes for a fantastic frame for a defensive wing. 2) Hova and djsalway are extremely credible posters and are on campus. If they stood/sat right near OG during his visit and saw that he was about the same height as Troy, DD, etc, that's more than good enough for me! -

If they stay at IU, yes. In other words; post season convo between player and coaching staff: Player: "Coach, I really think I can be a starter next year". Coach: "We don't think you'll even be a rotation player, but you're welcome to stay". Player: "I will look around for other options".
