Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA... Forever and Ever, Amen!
maxwell replied to mamasa's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Stu, thanks for sharing. This is awesome. It's funny not long after I initially read this post I ran across the following video with a long Cignetti quote at the end of which I asked Gemini to quote. I'm also curious and almost bet you have quite the collection of Cig quotes and wondering if you mind to share. Thanks in advance :] Cignetti's Speech on Standards and Habits: At the end of the video, Curt Cignetti delivers a speech centered on standards, habits, and the "edge." Here is the full quote from that segment: "I bet on myself. I bet on myself big time. I like getting better. I feel compelled to improve and get better every single day because I do firmly believe that you get better or you get worse. You never stay the same. And if you're not striving, somebody else is, and they are catching your @$$, right? And you are getting worse. And I believe that. One play at a time. Six seconds of play. Every play's got a life and the history of its own. It’s nothing—nothing. Not affected by success, not affected by failure. On to the next play. Never satisfied. Playing to a standard, not the circumstances of the game. Okay? It's not okay to let up because of the circumstances of the game because you're playing to a standard. Standard habits. First you form your habits, then your habits form you. And you have in life freedom of choice, but not freedom of consequence. And with every action is an equal and opposite reaction. You're trying to find the edge every single day. Every single day. That's what you're trying to do is find the edge in whatever area. And it might be just your process and how you conduct yourself. And that edge may be in a different area every single day because team—TEAM: together everyone accomplishes more. And that's the truth." Love the clip. A little route that I've begun to run again this last week has a name on a mailbox something like NOWAYSKI which always brings a smile to my face thinking about the multiple tanks it requires to take this Dude down. Rock on in Steeler Town Riley.

Any idea as to how strong the staff is pitching development for the next level with Sherrell and what his window of time is for the decision? -
Scrolling through this thread and quick glimpse of this picture I though wrong thread. Looked like the Silent-Killa-Kel'el-Ware.

Slick Rick had kind words for the Hines lad: Although Hines didn’t score during SHU’s 65-60 loss at St. John’s on Jan. 20, recording three rebounds, two assists and a block instead, Hall of Fame head coach Rick Pitino nonetheless had postgame praise for the freshman bigman. “Hines may be one of the best backup centers in the BIG EAST—if not basketball,” Pitino said. “He’s a great player with great hands.” https://www.thesetonian.com/article/2026/04/mens-basketball-freshman-standout-center-najai-hines-announces-intent-to-enter-transfer-portal

Great Win. Love to see these guys knocking down big shots and working hard. Some have expressed a concern for ball movement slowing down when Tayton Conerway returns from injury. I understand that thought but I also feel the ball slows down the most when he is looking for an opportunity to drive to the rim. I believe if our guys continue to knock down shots he will not hinder ball movement with or without Enright on the floor. I'm also thankful on the nights from here on out when we are not lighting it up from the arch that he will offset some of that by getting to the rim.

I don't have a good explanation to this. I'm believe we lost out on recruits in the mist of putting together a staff. The challenges seemed to snowball in terms of recruiting both players and coaches. I'm trying to be patient in this area, but I'm struggling to understand why we are not moving without the ball during periods of picking up 5 second calls. It seems to me that the quantity and quality of crisp cuts without the ball should not be affected by the quality or size of players. It should be a freaking baseline of attitude and effort you bring when you put on the uniform.

What an awesome 13 year progression captured in a few short clips. I ran across the following spat while Cig was with JMU and found it to be quite humorous: Edit: If someone cares to edit this so the video displays that would be great. My apologies for not making the post properly. All I could get was the link to post. -

Yes this morning I watched a little bit of the OT win WV had over Gonzaga and it showed the quarterfinal bracket of us getting thumped by UofL. I then wondered how the relationship with Scott & Darian formed.
-
Ha. I'm curious at some point if Darian goes.. I've had a couple of good conversations with Coach Cignetti. As he says "PURDUE........". well you know the drill.
-
Is it possible he is driving to a particular airport?
-
# No one tells him anthing # He doesn't check facts # He has no problem lying I need something solid. Is that the best ya got? :)

Like me some Dennis Gates. Not sure he is the big personality for IU, but anyone that can finally convince Tamar Bates to block out & develop some sense of a nose for the ball while rebounding deserves a look. Bates may overplay passing lanes and over help as he's done in the past, however, I'll leave that up to he and Gates. With 3 or 4 games to left to go in regular season, I believe I read Bates's lips to say, "Make sure you block out" when they were lined up for a free throw. I 'bout fell off the couch.
